IT IS TIME FOR WATERLOO!
The time has come yet again to go through ALL of ABBAs songs from the very beginning! And today we travel back to 1974 and ABBAs second album "WATERLOO". I am going to react to ALL songs I have NOT yet heard from ABBA. Follow me on this journey will you? I love to have you here!
The "deluxe songs" from the Waterloo album, will be done later on, with all of the other deluxe version songs from the other albums!
I will be posting one new video for each song to react to! So STAY TUNED!

OMG...I haven't heard that in ages. Abba has so many hidden 💎 gems. This is definitely one of them. It's fun and light and you start hearing that beautiful blend of Agnetha and Frida's voices...that meld together to create the magical singular voice THAT I Call AGNETHIFRID!!!

For what seems to be such a simple song there is so much complexity going on and everything is just on point. The bass guitar is not used as the typical foundation, it is the melodic counterpoint. The harmonizations are spot on. The guitar doesn’t drive the melody but instead becomes the embellishment. What at first could be thought of as childish is actually incredibly sophisticated. There’s layers here.
Just my thoughts too,on first glance it may appear simple,but its nothing simple with this when you go in to the core of this lovely tune with all its layers(spelling?) of its instruments...

@@Lisa-M Twas a rocky-reggea song that was in the making during their tour 1979.Recording process was captured in a demo.Very amusing you could hear Abba jamming talking having fun laughing a lot.Frida sounds lil louder but it;s a fine moment.Was never complete cause finally some parts were used for the verse to UA and same song was also rehearsed with different arrangement titled "Rubber ball man".(featured in the TFTMusic Box set in the mid '90s.But i do prefer the "Under my sun" Part1/2.First heard it on a bootleg cd in the '90s.Videos are also available in utube.Pure fun!

Ilike that you noticed the complicated production despite sounding just like a plain, cuddly little sweet song on first listen.Everything was like a detailfuly composed puzzle hiding a lot of well calculated hard work underneath.As another fan once kinda put it "Abba made complicated sound simple".So true.Personally, even after ages of my being a lifelong fan, i still dig out things in their songs i hadn't noticed all those years ago after so many listens.

Christiano you are ABBASOLUTELY spot on and correct .When you listen to ABBA you are hit with waves of emotion and stunned by the magic of their music ,and even if you listen to a particular song a hundred times you pick up different themes instruments and vocal harmonies and ,depending on your own moods and feelings at various times and stages of your life,the actual meaning and intended theme of the song .ALL the pieces are their all combined ,but it takes time to unlock the many many secrets locked away in the complexities of their creations ,and believe it or not, they are revealed as you experience different things in your life and meet challenges in your VOYAGE with ABBA as your companion.
@@michaelsnaidero1671 Actually i got overwhelmed listening to various VOYAGE songs under the dolby atmos analysis that got uploaded in the net.But also listening 1st time ,hidden backing vocals in earlier stuff such as in "Our last summer"."One man one woman"."Hole in your soul" and even in "MAMMA MIA" or "You owe me one"(!) that were out in the net couple of years back.Their vocal construction is mindblowing and unsuspiciously complicated.Thanx for replying,nice to hear from you btw.
@@christianoazzuro6711 it is so good and fulfilling to communicate with others about the ABBA phenomenon and the meaning and relationship they have with us in our lives especially you Christiano we seem to think alike in our journey with ABBA.And just to add about picking up on background vocals ,harmonies and delicate instrumentation, a lot ,for me anyway,has to do with the type of media I used for listening back in the 70s and early 80s, I used cassettes which had poor sound and a lot and I mean a lot of tape noise ,and the quality of the tape was very sub standard and you just couldn't hear the full magic and complexity of their songs but now with CDs and digital streaming I hear all those hidden sounds ,and the songs sound so much more complex and intricate that they literally cover you in emotion and disbelief,it makes me even more stunned by their talents and performance.
Hi Giventoe, I love this song even though it's not one of their famous ones. They really start to add the layers in this album and are building up to the ABBA sound ! Fun reaction, like the bowl.

I love it. I remember being a young kid, listening to this song in the summer in my city and dreaming of beaches, sea, palmtrees.....all of those things I would later enjoy. ABBA have always made me dream.

We start the journey to the album "Waterloo", the first with the official name of "ABBA" as a group (even with the subtitle, in parentheses: Björn & Benny; Agnetha & Frida)
and in the context of their presentation and victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in UK 1974
Personally, this is the album that I like the least from ABBA, the most uneven among their songs, even so it is an average 6pts
Still the vocal leadership of the songs is shared between Björn and the girls

it's a nice reagee style song, Björn does a correct job and the choirs of Agnetha & Frida raise its quality
and the 'melodic bridges' begin to appear that change the rhythm in
ABBA's songs
In these song, and in the full album too, there's more musical production and quality in chorus
"Sitting in the palm tree"
is one of the songs that ABBA performs live on their historic tour to Australia 1977
I really enjoy following you, with your contributions, even in those that do not coincide (the richness is in the difference of tastes and opinions)

Ive been waiting for this super hidden,I mean hidden,ABBA gem being reacted too..its so hard to find reactions on some of the hidden ABBA gems ,especially an extra well hidden gem like this wonderful little song...There is no problem finding reactions on songs like Dancing queen , mamma mia,Take a chance on me,all very good classic ABBA songs,but for me,I really enjoy more now to see reactions on songs like this one,Sitting in a Palmtree,that never got the attention it deserved,including nowdays in youtube land. There are other ones similar to this that never get any attention,why,I really dont know because they are all very good songs..songs like this of course,like What about Livingstone, Man in the Middle,Watchout, The piper, Rock Me,etc,there are more too,but to mention some of them...I wish these ones and other well hidden ABBA gems can be found by the youtube reaction population and reacted too,like this here. A beautiful song David ,the harmonies are perfect and exquisite matched to amazing instrumentation with that reggae calypso sound ,another style another genre investigated and executed to pure perfection. Bjorn and Benny hit the mark EVERY time with all their songs and this one delivers both lyrically and musically, and they all deliver vocally seamlessly and in synergy, a great song to lift your mind to a happy place and chill out.

As for the Waterloo album, Benny & Bjorn sing a few more songs on it and continue onto the next one too albiet not as many.

This song still sounds to me a lot like something from Ring Ring. You know about music more than I do, so your opinion is different from mine. It took me a while to really appreciate this song, but I was a kid when I first heard it. Again, a very nice song, but among the other ABBA songs, it just wasn't instant for me. Today, I can much more appreciate the atmosphere, the instruments, the voices. I have to give it to them, they were never boring. This song is unique. Keep doing the Bowl of Destiny.

It's fairly safe to say that no one who knows later ABBA would ever expect the sound that is "Sitting in the Palmtree". Enough said (although I do like that weird little interlude with just the women... wish they'd reused this bit somewhere else...) but your reaction is priceless as always! Love it. The next song from the Waterloo album is King Kong Song, so is there always only one ABBA song in this destiny bowl and now, where the first song is done you put the next one into the bowl? Because if all of the songs from the Waterloo album are in the bowl at the same time I think you couldn't keep the order from the album. 😊

I'd rather you do an ABBA song, then a few from the bowl of destiny, then another ABBA song, then more from the bowl of destiny etc... otherwise, it could be weeks before we hear the next ABBA reaction.

With respect, David, I hate the "Bowl of Destiny," especially for those viewers who have paid to have their suggestions reacted to. I know that you will eventually get to all of them; however, why leave it up to chance? Is it that difficult just to lay out all the songs on a calendar and react to them in the order they were received? I don't think it's fair that someone could make a request in May and possibly wait two or three months, when someone else could make a request in June and have it done right away, just by luck of the draw.
I don't have any songs in the Bowl of Destiny now, but I can see you have a lot of songs in that bowl. This deters me from making future suggestions because I would never know where my song is in the queue. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Very much a B side feeling to this song but it has its charms especially the girls voices.
Nice, but its so clear here that the girls should have had the lead here and Bjorn the backing vocals. Wait till you hear the hidden gem on this album: My Mama Said. I am also curious which songs you will not be reacting to because you already know them.

I dont really understand why some people always feel the need to directly or indirectly slam the ABBA guy´s voices when they are doing lead vocals just because the girls were made out of pure magic,but I believe this song,and others,how capable the guys are also in lead vocals. This song wouldnt have been as good without the guys taking the lead vocals in this one,and thats my 100 procent unchangeable position,here we have a perfect male and female mix here,and the same goes for other ABBA male lead vocals songs,as good and wonderful the female vocal leads are. People must understand the complexity and versatility of ABBA,that is appearant both in music genres,and also male or female lead vocals. ABBA should be appreciated for their versatility,it would be a less exciting group if it didnt have this wide range. There is always something different with ABBA songs,even though you always hear its ABBA with their trademark ABBA sound.

How does anyone enjoy your reaction with too much pause and long talking? Please you might wanna think of the lyrics and mood of the music. You seem too distant to convince me that you are into the song.
Then thats your opinion. In case you didnt know, theres copyright to consider, I cant listen to entire somgs without talking because the video will be blocked worldwide. Whats the point of watching a reaction without an actual reaction? You just want to see a person sitting still and quiet listening through a whole song?
