Thanks buddie! Started doing this with my lead eye closed to be more consistent on striking the low point of my golf swing. It really really helped me from being so inconsistent with the low point. Reminder to new golfers...(no one ever told me this 40 years ago:( ). Irons: swing down on the ball. Driver: swing up on the ball

Tried this today. My first swing, I nearly toppled over but my ball went straight as an arrow! It felt so smooth and crisp. It works.... I've been using it all day!

@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I noticed that if the ball didn't move from that point in my vision, nearly every swing was spot on. I'll be using this a lot more during my practice sessions and try to become more consistent with my eyes open

Searched for low point control video and this popped up. Good god! I'm shocked at how effective this is. Been working on some swing feels/changes and low point has suffered as a consequence albeit swing looking and feeling far better.
Tried this closed eye trick in the net at home and hit 5 of the most solid shots I've hit in months. Can't wait to get to the range and try this. Thanks so much for the video. Subscribed. James

@@TheArtofSimpleGolf thanks for the reply. Definitely worth another video on the concept as it's so effective. Would be great to have a similar single idea to apply to the driver swing. I found all my swing thoughts disappeared when focusing on keeping the eye shut. Thanks again for the videos. I'm hooked on your channel. Ha ha.

This drill was a bit of a revelation for me. Surprisingly, closing my left eye while swinging, immediately eliminated my tendency to push fairway woods to the right. I played a whole round one-eyed, with everything but the driver and hit a lot of straight and solid shots, with improved distance. I know that I am right eye dominant but I can't help wondering why this drill works so well.

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf

It certainly won’t harm. But I prefer practice swings on course to be more intentional to the shot

I 've actually been swinging my irons into the lightly snow covered ground ( Midwest, USA ) , trying to hit an imaginary ball, as this helps me easily see what my divot would look like.....I have noticed that my low point is too much behind the ball ...finding it difficult to correct, but will give this drill a try ....thanks much

At the top of the golf swing, where is the left shoulder relative to your chin? Under the chin or covering it. In my backswing my shoulder is bumping my chin causing eye alignment issues

  • @jonanthony9452

The problem with this drill is that it doesn't take eye dominance into consideration. A left eye dominant player such as Jack Nicklaus, will turn their head slightly to the right which helps them utilize their dominant eye, because it causes the nose to "block" the right eye, which means straighter shots.

Don’t agree, especially when you consider a Right Eye dominant golfer. Also, closing the Left Eye may not work for a Right-handed golfer with Cross Eye dominance.
