      Actually, I find the opposite is true. So many YT channels go on and on about the gear and never go into the ideas, the whys behind photography. Even worse, they talk about all the functions of gear and never share their actual work, which often if you scratch beneath the surface really isn't all that good.

    The only youtube that tells the truth about the lower (1.3 stops) power output of the pro compared to the 600. Other youtube vids. make other claims that they are equal without proving it. ie. not using a flash meter.
    Many thanks for an excellent, objective and honest presentation.

    Greetings from Canada. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen comparing the two AD-600’s. My only feedback would be to have shown the AD-600 at 1/4 & 1/128 when measuring WB, f, & CRI. Both were compared at 1/1 but only the pro was demonstrated at other values. Other than that, excellent video. Very methodical and easy to follow.

    • @PIXELVIILAGE
      @PIXELVIILAGE  6 лет назад

      Thank you Mike for your feedback... We did test the consistency of AD600 at 1/4 and 1/128. And they are comparable to AD600Pro. Didn't include that portion in the video since the length of the video was going out of control! As you can see, it is already 21 minutes!

    Each time i watch your video i conclude that ad600b is a better proposition. I find it hard to justify investing in ad600 pro, less power, slight variation in color accuracy. Most photographers colour grade their pictures anyway. The ad600bm is between 35k to 38k and ad600 pro is between 47k to 50k, quite a hefty difference there. If i invest in ad600b then i can get both the trigger and that 120cm deep parabolic softbox with grid in the price of ad600 pro.
    I like your honest review and the fact that you didn't fudge the numbers. This induces respect. Thanks for making this intuitive and informative video. It is of great help. Thanks and regards from Prayag.

    ATG stated that the 1 F-Stop lower was due to the insert lamp protector, which is also used on Profoto B1.
    The lamp protector has silver coated but due to the closeness of the flashtube, there is no angle projected outward like a disc like surfaces.
    But if you remove the lamp protector and place the ATG Gold 1X Reflector, then you will get 2 F-Stops!
    So for beginners, amateurs up to pro using strobe, the reflector is really important.
    Kinda like using a pressure washer, the nozzle is very important if you need good results.
    PIXEL VILLAGE, we don't like to use 500WS & lower because they just don't have the power.
    But they are market to beginners & amateurs that are stepping out from those weak candlelight speedlite.
    At the same time companies are paying reviewers to boost the 400ws by saying, they like to shoot with that lousy depth-of-field looks.
    FYI:
    for people that don't understand simple math in number. placing a diffusser over your flashtube (light). 2.5+ lost of light.
    we use simple number of 400.
    we know half of 400 is 200.
    and half of 200 is 100.
    are you still lost? off course not.
    so what is the number now when 2.5 is given?
    chime in if you know the answer.
    then add WS (watt second) at the end of the number.

  • @longliveclassicmusic

    Thanks so much for this. One thing I'd not considered is the modeling light wattage. The AD600BM has a 10W modeling lamp too like the AD600, whereas the AD400Pro has a 30W modeling lamp closer to the 38W of the AD600Pro, 3-4X the former. I was pretty set on getting the AD600BM until learning this. Now I'm strongly considering paying a bit more for the AD400Pro. The 600Pro is still out of my price range as of now, but I may get the 400 instead of 600 so I can have that higher powered modeling lamp, the trade off being 200W power. Camera gear is always full of decisions!

    • @PIXELVIILAGE
      @PIXELVIILAGE  5 лет назад

      Battery operated flashes are primarily meant to be used on location and not in the studio. And such situations, power of the flash will be more important than the power of the modelling lamp. Because even if you have a 500W modelling lamp, it still will be useless in outdoor shoots. Hence, I will out my money for more flash power than the LED light's brightness. 🙏

    • @evocati6523
      @evocati6523 2 года назад

      A 30+ watt modeling light will drain your batteries way faster, if a modeling lamp is so important to you these are not the right lights to be looking at
