    2 things I would like to interject:

    -There's animals as big as Shark capable of asexual reproduction

    • @The31st

      That definitely used to be true, the og Pokémon anime was something totally separate to the games but I don't know how true that is anymore, they seem to be linking them more with every series.
      We talk about parthenogenesis in a video later in the series, I recommend watching all of them, and if you notice it does say "literally a lie" in big letters on the screen.

    I think there are multiples of the Legendary Beasts and the Regi Trio as well. You see, in Pokemon 3, there is a regular Entei, while in the Zoroark movie, there is a shiny one. For the Regi Trio, they are imprisoned in multiple regions at the same time, wich would be impossible if there was just 1 Regi Trio.

    • @The31st
      @The31st  6 лет назад

      Paul Grote Beverborg I agree with you, the entei itself in the 3rd movie was just a creation of the unown based on a book and a little girls imagination but the book with looks much older than 150 years had a none shiny entei in it.
      Then the regi trio I didn't really consider but if they were made get could be made more than once

      I also think the Arceus you can catch isn't actually Arceus, but one of its arms, with the actual Arceus being so powerful a normal human wouldn't be able to see it or something because i don't think a god would make himself look like a llama. The Unown would be the fingers.

    • @The31st
      @The31st  6 лет назад

      Paul Grote Beverborg I feel like arceus is still a pokemon so it probably looks like that but if it's strong enough to make universes then it would just trash your team so it probably isn't arceus maybe one made by the unown like entei was or something

    Reasons I think breeding with mew makes the most sense:
    They need a limiting factor to explain their tiny numbers because if there wasnt they would be everywhere as they'd outcompete everything.
    This could be basic stuff like space and food, a really long time between breeding cycles, inbreeding depression, or needing a mew.
    •The first one is a decent idea but if it was just that would only be legendary pkmn and they'd just kill and eat everything else
    •The second again could work but over time would lead to them dominating the world as its not like any of them die prematurely.
    • Inbreeding depression does sort of work but like the other 2 the big issue is how would they breed with eachother if there was only 1 of them to begin with?
    • Solves all these issues as it explains how you can go from 1 member of a species to multiple while maintaining that species' purity and explains why their numbers are so small.
    Although I guess if the legends were different now to how they were when created it would add an entirely new dimentison to the problem.

    Great video, 31st! I think there might be more of the legendary beasts though, because the Pokedex states that an Entei is born every time a volcano erupts (although this could just be the one Entei using its speed to visit a volcanic eruption whenever one occurs, with people just thinking its a different Entei when it's really just the one.) By the way, with your theory of reproduction via Mew, you said there is very little chance for genetic mutation, well what if a mutation does happen? Could it lead to something like a discoloration of the Pokemon's skin, turning into a shiny? Is that what shinies are? 🤔

    • @The31st
      @The31st  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks dude! tbh I dont really believe anything the pokedex says XD
      yh so the chances of a genetic mutation happening are super low anyway and they can be silent and not change anything or they can be fatal or be disadvantageous and cause the pokemon to die before it can breed. or the mutation can change something but it not affect the chances of survival of the animal - these are likely to be passed on in something like a legendary which is top of the food chain. I think shinies are kinda like albinos in our world, a mutation that changes the colour of their fur/skin/scales/etc. and maybe ill do a video on it as I just thought of some stuff XD you always bring up good ideas

    Unfortunately, I question the validity of the Hoopa movie's use of Rayquaza. I firmly believe that there is only one Rayquaza, and in turn only one Groudon and Kyogre, as it seems more likely if you take careful note of the lore outlined in RSE and ORAS. It's more likely that Hoopa is pulling something from an alternate universe of some sort, which would not be surprising given their penchant for creating wormholes. I do believe that there is more than one of the legendary beasts, as if you are referring to the anime for canon material, it clearly shows that there is more than one of each; the Zoroark movie is particularly noteworthy in that regard. Furthermore, I highly question the validity of Mew being connected to Arceus in any way, shape or form, but the reasoning behind that if a bit too complicated to explain with this initial comment. I think you have a good understanding of the topic you have made this video on, but I feel that there are a few inconsistencies that set off a good portion of it as well. Even so, it was not a bad video; good job.

    • @The31st
      @The31st  6 лет назад

      I agree that the shiny rayquaza is probably from another dimension as that does make sense but I do not believe the original rayquaza is the same the one which is currently alive. anything that lives within the confines of time and space is bound by them and even legendary pokemon cant live forever. Its possible there could only be one at a time for the most part, while their lifespan is unknown I doubt they live millions of years. They could do something similar to some insects where the parent dies not long after the child is born and then for the majority of their lives there would only be 1 rayquaza in the universe, this would mean that the lore still applies as they are speaking about the same rayquaza thats alive but human history isnt very long and rayquaza could probably have been born before humans even existed. Groudon and kyogre i didnt really include as I couldnt find anything on the red and blue orbs origins which for me is the biggest factor, was their sleep immediately after they did their job (which is unlikely as they would be buried so far down they couldnt ever be found) or were they put to sleep by humans who made the orbs - that would mean that they were around and active for billions of years and could have bred like i suggested rayquaza could.
      For the beasts, I have my doubts they were made by ho-oh and that would explain their being more of them but unfortunately I cant prove they werent. The movie definitely does make me think they werent though as the zoroark being shown none shiny versions and then shiny ones appearing.... well. Also the book from the 3rd film looks older than 150 years old to me.
      As for mew, its just the accepted canon as far as I can tell but I plan on doing a whole video on the origins of life on the pokemon world anyway.
      Sorry for the long reply i just enjoy having these kinds of discussions, im glad you enjoyed the video.

    • @ProfessorWormwood
      @ProfessorWormwood 6 лет назад

      No worries; I can handle long replies. The issue I still have is that you are assuming that they are billions of years old...when that isn't the case at all, and ORAS proves it. You see, Kyogre and Groudon didn't actually create the oceans and the land as far as I am concerned; they definitely posses incredible powers linked to them and can control them to some degree, but they are not the creators of them. Groudon you might be able to make a case for, but the water on the Earth came from many sources, a large portion being extraterrestrial in origin, so it is unlikely to say that one being created it all. The people of the Hoenn region tell of their terrible power and how it would have ended the world if it continued for long...but if they had been battling like we have observed them battling in the past, how could stable life arise in the first place, let alone develop over time to the point of humans arising? I can't pinpoint an exact age for them, but from the looks of it, they can't be that old if life was able to survive and thrive to the point in time at which the tales of the Hoenn region's ancient past were forged.
      Also, I can assure you that all of the details of that Mew theory have not been made official canon; it's just an incredibly popular fan canon, and one I do not prescribe to.

    • @The31st
      @The31st  6 лет назад

      its very possible i've taken the legends too seriously and they didnt make the seas and the land however i think that the incident in Hoenn is only 1 of many times the 2 have clashed, that throughout history the 2 have go through cycles of calm and conflict and each time rayquaza has been there to quell them.

    • @ProfessorWormwood
      @ProfessorWormwood 6 лет назад +1

      You are correct; there have been multiple conflicts between the the two entities, as is stated in the lore. However, the specific wording of the lore also suggests that they are still indeed the same entities, and not merely offspring of past ones. Also, keep in mind that the time between these two conflicts is not that long, so the time scale we are working with here is still fairly small.

    • @The31st
      @The31st  6 лет назад

      i mean human history only dates back less than 10, 000 years so its possible that that is nothing in the lifespan of creatures like these. also whats your opinion on the use of the word "formed" for the origins of legendary pkmn in the lore, i take to mean either made by arceus or thats where nature formed them over time

Through a process called parthenogenesis, even animals as large and complex as Komodo dragons can reproduce asexually under certain conditions.
