Boy, I would *NOT* want to be the medic at the end when Camoflague's family asks for his dog tags and he has to explain he gave them to a guy who claimed he was saved by his ghost.
There are 2 dog tags per person. You take 1 so that you know who died, and you leave the other on the body so it can be identified even if it isn’t found for years.
Actually they’d probably just give the family a new set of dog tags; they only gave them to soldiers in case they were too mutilated to id so they had no reason to save those dog tags as he was identified while dead
Somewhere in the desert of Afghanistan, a young Marine is digging in for a last stand against his enemy. And a rough-voiced rugged Gunnery Sergeant has just appeared at his shoulder to help him. That Gunnery Sergeant is Ronald Lee Ermey. RIP Gunny
As a Marine myself, this song has inspired me to hit the gym more. I want to be like that big Marine, except without the impossible supernatural powers lol. Someday I want someone to think, “I was awfully glad to see this big Marine”

aerea I feel like they wouldn’t have to worry about licensing issues with those names, because that’s the main reason they change the names for the dub
I love that bit but, it does kind of ruin the surprise. Then again, so does the "He caught a bullet out of the air" part. The argument can be made either way
nah he was fine, there was a mix up, you see camouflage in the tent was from one battalion and the other camouflage was from a different battalion, so they didnt know they had two people with the same call sign, feel better now? :)

Opening sounds like a hardcore metal pirate song
shouldn't it be "barrage" instead of "mirage"?
Banner Of Oranje no the official lyrics are mirage it confuses me too but hey we can't argue with the people who wrote it
He was caught in a mirage because he was seeing a guy that was dead as if he were actually alive. Thus adding to the odd factor of the overall song plot.
That wouldn't make sense either, why was he able to get through so much? and the lyric says "was to save a young marine caught in a mirage." which makes NO SENSE. either Sabaton forgot the actual lyrics or people are mishearing things again.
Quite possibly the case. But they may have wanted to put their own touch on it. Who knows?

And I could hear the enemy movin' in close outside
Just then I heard a twig snap and I grabbed my empty gun
And I dug in scared while I counted down my fate
And then a big marine, with a pair of lustful eyes

Well, we fought all night, side by side, we took our battle stance
And I wondered how the bullets missed this man
'Cause they seemed to go right through him just as if he wasn't there
And in the mornin' we both took a chance and ran
And it was near the riverbank when the ambush came
And I thought it was the end, and we were had
Then a bullet with my name on it came buzzin' through a bush
And that big Marine, he just swat it with his hand
Just like it was a fly...
Woah-oh-oh-oh, Fruity Rudy

When he led me outta danger I saw my FOB and waved goodbye
He just winked at me from the desert and then was gone
When I got back to my HQ, I told 'em about my night
And the battle I'd spent with a big Marine named Fruity Rudy
When I said his name, the soldier gulped, and a corpsman took my arm
And led me to a green tent on the right
He said "You may be tellin' the true, boy, but this here is Fruity Rudy
And he's been right here since we were making love last night
But before he went, he said Semper Fi, and said his only wish
Was to save a young Marine caught in a mirage
So here, take his dog tag, son, I know he'd want you to have it now"
