There was a big dust-up at Isandlwana (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Isandlwana) which the British lost. A whole column wiped out ( but it broke the back of the Zulu military machine. About 1200 British and Native troops dead, about 2000 Zulus dead, but many wounded). A detachment of around 4000 Zulus, who missed the main event, tried for a small part in the victory by wiping out the garrison at Rorke's Drift. A costly mistake on their part.
Paladin Boyd Well, clearly the gun can be defeated, right before the Battle of Rorke's Drift, the Zulu's had just smashed the brits at Isanduana (idk how it's spelled entirely) and there the brits had artillery.
The Snake Empire, Artillery is tricky to use on fast moving targets especially the artillery of the time. But when the maxim gun was brought in it became very clear that spears are useless.
Paladin Boyd True, but it still stands, the gun could be defeated, with the right tactics, the spear could also defeat the Maxim Gun easily, all you really need is to just have a small group flank and take out the maxim gun(s) then you'd just have to deal with the infantry, which would be easy.
As much as I absolutely LOVE Sabaton, they got some facts wrong here. The Zulu tribes were told by the British they had to basically turn over all their land and submit to British rule. They did not do so, so the British invaded Zulu territory and suffed a crushing defeat at the hands of the Zulu warriors (the worst defeat of a first world country army by an indigenous army in world history). The Zulus then moved toward and attacked Rourke's Drift. The British troops there defended it and held out against a vastly numerically superior foe. The Brits started the damn war, they were the aggressors in the war. Unfortunately they won the war.
@@reighniz4488 They didn't really 'learn to rein themselves in'. They collapsed due to the crushing debt they incurred upon themselves in the two world wars. Believe you me, if WWI of II hadn't happened, or had been ended swiftly, the British Empire would be alive and well today.
