My old man was on the ground in 03. Infantry Machine Gunner. After that 2 year deployment he went off and joined the rangers and was sent in the surge in 07, 2 hours after I was born. Then was sent to Green Berets and has had 9 combat deployments and 4 non-com ones in my lifetime. He was also a tanker for a few months but was too big for the tanks.

It seems to have trouble with Composite armour though. When one RPG-29 was used against a Challenger 2, it only managed to penetrate by hitting a small weakpoint in the frontal armour (which has now been fixed using the TES kit). And even when it did penetrate, all it did was blow 3 of the drivers smaller toes on his left foot. The Tank wasnt crippled.
I knew a history teacher that was in afghanistan (not related to this) he was a pretty good teacher. He left to be an police officer but my dad went to iraq in 2017 i think he only delt with drones and shit but he went on convoys with marines pretty lit though.

They sent my happy butt to Baghdad in December 2003. Almost every day we see Apaches flying on their missions. We would also see wrecked vehicles. Part of their handy work. Imagine the last sight of an Iraqi soldier was this hovering beast in the distance. "Don't run. Face your fate like a man."

that's sort of what happened to a challenger 2. the optics were taken out by sniper fire and it got stuck in a deep ditch where it was attacked from all sides by RPGs and the odd MILAN AT missile. Still survived with minimal damage (a few dents and burnt paint).

The differences between the various NATO Main battle tanks (Leo2, Abrams, Challanger 2, Leclerc etc) is too small to make any major difference. And the tank crews of NATO member nations are also comparable in terms of training. The winner of an Abrams vs Leopard 2 match up would be decided by tactics, strategy, support (logistics, Air, Arty) and numbers.

To my knowledge, the Abrams uses an armor based on Chobham, but it is somewhat different. Dorchesterarmor is not significantly better, although the TES and TUSK systems both tanks use should give them pretty much the exact same defensive capabilities.

panzer dosent nessicarilly mean its spacifically PzKpfw III or IV or whatever, PzKpfw stands for: Panzer Kamph Wagen or quite literally Armored War-Wagon, Panzer just means armor, so his chorus means "death in the shape of an armored battallion." so he could be singing about anything, but i think its about desert storm.

A guy who actually knows what he's talking about. I would also add that the Abrams is a battle tested tank contrasted to the Leopard 2. But people forget that a tank is only as good as the soldiers who occupy them. Both are very good tanks, some of the best in the world.
The Americans renamed it "Shock and Awe", but since that word translates to "Lightning War" and they used Rommel's tactics, We can say both phrases apply (it's about Iraq, by the way.)

You do realize we singly took on the Japanese Empire. Sent troops to handle Germany in Europe and then also sent troops to Africa to take on the Italians all at the same time. As well as supplied almost all allied nations with their weapons

After this song, I felt a strong urge to unlock Abrams in War Tander.
I read that a RPG-29 penetrated challenger's lower plate, and destroyed the tank killing the crew, and somewhere else penetrated the frontal armour making the driver lose a foot.

that's sort of what happened to a challenger 2. the optics were taken out by sniper fire and it got stuck in a deep ditch where it was attacked from all sides by RPGs and the odd MILAN AT missile. Still survived with minimal damage (a few dents and burnt paint).

I like the Leo 2 just as much as the Abrams, and its definitely the better choice for the countries that use it. But the Abrams can be just as effective for an army specialized for its use. Its communication and command electronics are likely second to none which makes it ideal for an army like the US that gets such a hard on for artillery and air support.

The differences between the various NATO Main battle tanks (Leo2, Abrams, Challanger 2, Leclerc etc) is too small to make any major difference. And the tank crews of NATO member nations are also comparable in terms of training. The winner of an Abrams vs Leopard 2 match up would be decided by tactics, strategy, support (logistics, Air, Arty) and numbers.

I think I read about that incident. If I remember correctly, the plate that shows a mark of the Allied nations to friendly forces on their scanners (whatever they're called) had fallen off or blown off in battle, and an M1A2 from the U.S. mistook it as one of the T-72s that had charged INTO the tank formation in a suicide rush to stall the Allies.

To my knowledge, the Abrams uses an armor based on Chobham, but it is somewhat different. Dorchesterarmor is not significantly better, although the TES and TUSK systems both tanks use should give them pretty much the exact same defensive capabilities.
