I dont know about that. he was 7 foot 1. he was an amazing athlete and played huge minutes while playing 80 games a year for most of his career. To me that translates to any era. This in a more physical defensive era as far as contact goes. Hed obliterate the nba today with rules the way they are. He’s be doubled/tripled every time.
Well doubles weren’t really allowed early in his career but I think he’d be no doubt better offensively but worse defensively because of the perimeter play style now
What you’re not taking into account is this was before zone defense in the nba. It was much easier to post up without an extra defender allowed to collapse down. His scoring average dropped considerably the year after the rule change and never approached 30 PPG again.

And I’m not talking about the effect on cutters or 3 point shooters, I’m talking the effect on Shaq. There’s no way around that zone D is what lead to the decrease in straight post up scoring league wide. Shaq went from having one guy to beat on offense to several, it’s not rocket science.
