  • Because you demanded it...Yoga for Women. This is a gentle and restorative sequence to practice before or during your cycle. Adriene shares supportive postures using items you will have around the house - such as a blanket or towel and a few pillows. (Or LOTS of pillows!) ("Those aren't pillows!!!!")
    This sequence invites you to slow it down and support the body and its natural rhythm. It provides relief for PMS, cramps and lower back aches. It calms the nervous system and chills the energetic body leaving you feeling cool and clear. Practice to support the body and its wisdom - leaving frustration and fussiness behind.
    Take the time for yourself! You deserve it!

    It is really nice to have our period acknowledged and a practice to help honor/soothe the process. I've started scheduling off work for the first two days of mine, and it has made such a difference. Allowing myself to actually rest while menstruating is a blessing. It's important!!! Not everyone understands but I think many in this community get it. Namaste Adrienne!

    During the supported child's pose, with extra fluffy pillows, I started crying because it means so much to have someone so caring help us through such an uncomfortable time. A particularly nasty cramp woke me up an hour ago. It's now 5 AM, because I took an extra 15 minutes to this practice and I feel wonderful now. Thank you so much Adriene!

      Not a fan myself, woman and ladies is not a dirty word that needs to be censored. Especially at our time of the month. It's important to still say women, women get periods, we get ovarian cancer, we give birth and breastfeed. These are women's issues.
      When we become afraid to say it, what world are we in (1984?).

    • @waitahotsecond
      @waitahotsecond 4 года назад +71

      @@Emmareads15 the problem is not that "women" is a dirty word, it's that not all people who get periods are women, and also that not all women get periods. everything you're saying is absolutely true, it's just important to note that these bodily functions do not exclusively happen to women (or even to ALL women) :)

    • @Emmareads15

    So, I have endometriosis. This morning, I was writhing in bed and sobbing and shouting because my cramps hurt so bad. I had to walk around almost completely bent over because standing up hurt too much. This video is the ONLY thing that gives me any sense of relief when I'm to that point. The cramps don't go away completely, but I'm able to walk with a straight back and sit with a manageable amount of pain. I usually have 2 to 3 days where I am completely bed bound during my period, where I can barely function, but doing this a couple times a day helps me be able to move around and focus on something that isn't the cramps. Thank you so, so, so much for this! No other yoga for periods has ever helped the way this does.

    not gonna lie my cramps were so bad this morning that i was caught somewhere between laughing and crying; so glad i clicked on this video because i also struggle with accepting my femininity around this time of month. i especially loved the bit where you specified that the sensuality in the poses are just for us women and not for anybody else!! it made me feel a lot more empowered during what is usually a very withdrawn, painful, and self-conscious week. lots of women, myself included, feel ashamed and dirty during their periods so i want to say thank you so much for helping us embrace this and get through it!

    I. Feel. No. Pain. Yes yes yes yes. I did something similar last month and it worked. I thought for sure it wouldn't this time bc my cramps were (WERE....thank God not any more) murdering me slowly. If this whole yoga, stretch and breath thing will work for me....ohhhh it will work for you. I'm so glad I didn't bother driving to get Advil. I'm kinda mad (in a really mellow chilled out way 😎) that I ever took pain pills to begin with! They should include these exercises, minus the too adult stuff, into the curriculum when they teach girls about their period in grade school. This was🍫🍬🍭.

What amazes me each time is that this flow allows me to release anything weighing me down emotionally. I want to thank you Adrienne for the love, guidance and support you've given us through your pratice. Your kind heart and beautiful spirit heal so many people. I sincerely wish that this year is as good to you as you have been to me and countless others over the years.

    Thank you Adriene. I experienced the worst cramps ever today. So I searched information to release it. Then I found this video. I often watched your videos, but this was the first time trying this one. And it really works....! Sincerely thank you, Adriene. My muscles feel really comfortable and relaxing right now. Of course, your voice made me feel much more better as well. So sweet so comfy 😌 Hope you have a lovely week someone who find this comment.♥️

    currently doing the 30 days of yoga, but didn't feel any cramp relief in day 16. Knew Adriene wouldn't let me down though. Thanks for helping relieve the pain and making me laugh.

      i mean, you even said that you don't understand sex transition, so why do you have to be so rude? let people live their lives. it literally costs $0 to be tolerant and not an ass!

      Madam, An opinion doesn't control others. I tolerate, but I don't have to accept. Just as you don't have to accept my comment. The coin has two sides.

    • @maggiestanley3652
      @maggiestanley3652 6 лет назад +13

      @@jlex1049 to tolerate and to accept are two different things and I am very aware of that. I'm just saying that just because you don't understand something doesn't allow you to be so rude. Just because you think trans men (men who were born in female bodies, just to be clear) are not real men, whatever that means, doesn't mean you can just write hurtful words. Ignorance isn't an excuse for being a dick so I encourage you to educate yourself before you talk about subject you don't understand, be respectful or just shut the hell up.

    Thank you so much for this video ! My cramps are so bad sometimes I have to stay home. This morning, I was considering soaking in a hot bath and then go back to sleep because I was doubled over in pain. I decided to follow your video instead and I feel amazing ! I put some Tarragon essential oil on my belly before the practice because it also helps with cramps (it's not as effective than pain killers but it's much healthier !), and I feel like combining both was just the best idea I've had this week ^^ I love your videos, thank you so much again !

    I doubt Adriene will ever see this, but I just wanted to say that this video has gained some attention in the endometriosis community because it's so awesome. It's gentle enough that we can do it even on bad pain/bloating days, and it's a great way to recenter yourself mentally. I'm so glad I found a practice that allows me to get on the mat even when I'm feeling like 10 kinds of crap.

    I know that sequence is seven years old, however it definitely was my saving grace tonight! Words do not describe how grateful I am for you Adriene. You have become such a huge support for me and my mental health. Ever since I’ve received both vaccinations- my menstrual cycles have been absolutely horrendous. Extremely emotional, hormonal and extreme menses. It’s become almost unbearable. When you said “feminine” I never ever look at my menstruation as a feminine thing. Tonight, I heard exactly what I needed to hear. I feel loved. ❤️ thank you Adriene

    it's the day before my period and i'm flinging bad energy around onto everyone. i cried so much during this session, for the first time in a long time having empathy with myself and being calm in my own presence. so grateful for this - i am now in a space kinder to myself so also kinder to others.

Something told me to RUclips yoga. Saw this video and performed everything on my bed lol. I feel better. I need to get back into yoga. Thank you so much!!!!

    uuuuh, loved this! Very calming and relaxing. I had to pause and do some Forward Folding, Half Way Lifting, Downward Dog and Warrior poses because I felt that I needed it and I must say: I found what feels good, yay!
    Sometimes when I do Yoga I notice a tingling sensation on the soles of my feet and it is amazing. I always think to myself: Yeah, Yoga works! Thank you for this calming video and for inspiring me to find what feels good and experiencing new moments with my body! Lots of love all the way from Germany to you, Adriene! xxx
    and now I am going to eat a chocolate muffin cause those feel good, too, haha!

    I feel like my experience won't be original but during my practice, I started to feel a lump in my throat, which I think now I always have when I'm PMS but I'm not aware of, because I'm so focused on this unbearable pain in my stomach that I can't be aware of anything else. Then I bursted in tears, realizing how much stressed I was - stressed to feel the monthly pain again -
    And you know, they tell us it's normal to feel the pain until you haven't give birth, but hey, my body continues to tell me that pain is not normal.
    Well, at some point, this session gave me the feeling that someone was listening to my pain, and caring, and helping - which is new.
    Anyway, I'm doing Yoga for almost a year now, and it's the first time I cry during my practice, so I finally understand the emotional part in Yoga.

    I substituted this video in place of day 15 of the 30 days of yoga. Standing up and walking is hard for me on day one of my lady time and this not only relieved the cramps but also uplifted my mood. I’m glad I was able to still get on the mat and make today count. Thank you Adriene! Much love 💗
