If I don't have the wifi button at all would it help to buy a wifi adapter usb plugin? I need to be able to use my phone's mobile hotspot on my PC and it's a custom built PC without a wifi button.

Yeah, if it's a PC then probably doesn't have the WiFi hardware. Just buy a dual band wifi adapter, they are very cheap.

Thank you so much 🙏🙌. Uninstalling the Intel wifi installer suite must have caused the service to not be started, it was set to manual. Nothing else I found mentioned checking to see if it was on.
