    Just found your channel. I don't know what is better, the blue oval big blocks, or you teaching your kids along with us. Definitely keep the 460! There's 1000s of us out here dying for some support with our efi motors.

      @dexterlecter7289 Год назад +1

      Yes! We have basically no options. Can’t install older heads, no efi friendly heads, can’t change much without computer issues. I’m planning on the banks headers and likely intake. Probably buy those then have a shop do a y pipe or I’ll do it myself. However I am probably getting the best gas mileage any 460 has got ever. I calculated it out to be 9mpg two times, then I realized a portion of gas had been pumped to back tank which was on E but after I calculated mileage on front tank, it was over half. I’m guessing I’m over 14mpg city /hwy combined. I also drive slow as shit and feather gas. Learned that ole trick driving my baby, G30 van with a snappy drive train.

      @@dexterlecter7289 I hear ya man. I’m rebuilding my 460, ported lower intake, ported/polished exhaust side of heads, Doug Thorley headers, mild cam. I’m definitely going to have idle issues 😂….no local tuners will touch it (old Fords I guess), so I’m down to either twEECer, have a custom chip burnt for me or go MAF $$$.

    Just subscribed to your channel. Great info on our big Öl Ford Trucks. I got a 97 F350 crew cab long bed with the mighty 460. I’ve bullet proofed it just about and am going to do a couple things that I seen on your channel, like eliminating the stock oil cooler. Got 4” lift with 37” tires, headers with single 3” exhaust with just a performance muffler, no cat . A bunch of other stuff, too long to list. Looking forward to more of your videos. Loved watching your big Ford pushing that Dodge up the hill 😂, move it on over little truck, cause the Big Red Ford is mashing up the mountain

    I lucked out. I have a 1997 Ford F-350, 7.5 crew cab, LB dually, post tract. with 10,000 on a rebuilt eng. total miles 74000.
    So far put Banks intake & exhaust, Gear Venders over/ under trans, Banks 4:56 rear end with Banks rear housing. came with ten leaf springs on each side. I actually get 12-14 MPG. Also changed stock 95 amp alt. to a 170 amp. alt. with bigger wires. Still adding upgrades in future.

    I do have experience with gas but diesel was my major trade for over fifty years and thats been a while ago. I have been crippled for the last fifteen years. My concern was the intake plenum on 460 engines had a design flaw that had no. eight cylinder running lean and burning a hole in the piston. After market intakes seem to take away this problem. Yes you are fuel injected as I know. Carburetor model engines wore the worst for this problem. I like the higher mileage of diesels and if you went a new enough model cummins, life goes on a lot longer. Problems with diesel is prices of gas being much cheaper makes that seem harder to choose what is the right choice for you. I am a ford man and always big block

    • @cprgarage3206

      I have a lot of experience playing with the FE engines. As a kid, we used blowers on them producing high performance engines. Too broke to own a race car and a rig to tow them to a race, we drove them to the race and then back home again to use as a daily driver. My mileage and power was sweet but being a kid, just before I went to nam, I got a few "speeding" tickets. I ran that rig.... a 63 ford with the 406 engine for a lot of miles considering what it went through. I had that engine in the car with a couple sets of bearings to insure that it never had low oil pressure. I did not have near the knowledge I do now and really would of not changed those bearings at all now thinking back as they were sweet looking when pulled. I did keep a good oil and new cam bearings at twenty plus thousand miles as the timing chain was the biggest issue. I replaced the chain with that double gear set and it was never a issue again. Too much pressure on the cam pulling down on the cam did its damage. I also go great mileage with it and can say, I wish I still had that beautiful car. I can talk for hours on it.@@cprgarage3206
