FRANK IS THE BEST SUBMISSION HEAVYWEIGHT EVER.
I was already a big fan of Mir but this interview has just made me a much bigger fan of him. What a humble and well spoken likable guy.
when you watch an interview about fighting but end up in anatomy and philosophy classes instead...true martial artist
I am honestly relieved to see Frank still being so well spoken. Dude may have been been considerate in victory but many of his opponents were not towards him.
He’s one of the rare, insightful and eloquently spoken MMA fighters. He really needs to get a commentating gig
He used to be one of the commentators for WEC
He was on acb, probs done alot more too
He actually did commentate in the WEC for a certain period of time and he was actually pretty great. I'll take Mirs commentary over DC, Rogan or Dom any day of the week.
Really? During the first hour of his 3rd grade level explanation of leverage, I thought hey, this is a bit long....but a few hours later I decided that I would rather die than listen to this guy - so I offed myself, on the third day I was resurrected, came back here and he was still explaining how amazing it is that objects can feel heavier based upon leverage.
@@chonqmonk lol that's a funny comment, but damn you're a dick, bruh
Frank should be a UFC commentator for sure. Well spoken, chill and understands the respect in fighting.
Frank was the WEC commentator when I first started watching this amazing sport. He was incredible, can't believe the UFC hasn't tapped him for one of the commentator gigs. Thanks Frank, you're def one of my "Wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley" guys.
I would LOVE to see/hear Frank commentate.
Yup. He’s so knowledgeable and well spoken. He made those shitty and unprofessional comments about Brock and it was curtains after that for his broadcasting career with the UFC
Better than Joe Rogan.
@@melvinsharples4015 Damn, I didn't know that's what sunk his commentating career. The UFC sure can be petty sometimes.
I mean, Frank might be one of the better dudes you could meet in a dark alley. He is pretty level headed and probably wouldn't let you get robbed by some other asshole.
I had a severely fractured dislocated elbow with little hope of a full recovery. Depression and hopelessness followed. The story Frank's motorcycle accident, recovery and his mental attitude gave me the inspiration to stand up and work towards a full recovery.
How did you recover if I may ask
@@siggetrygger1476 in excess of 100 physio sessions, hours of stretching in a hot bath. Then moved on to VERY light weights (2 lbs max) then the rowing machine and then swimming. From there onto a strengthning and stabilization programme. It took two full years before regained range of motion and do my first push-ups and pull-ups.
@@alewyngrove3702 good shit man
Extremely remarkable, most people will never know the pain and drive you must have to recover from something like that. Be proud
Mir was is one of my favorite fighters. Not only because his fighting ability, but because of is intellect. Dude was also known for breaking people's limbs. Gangster.
The only thing that's more dangerous than your opponent is your pride
hes great. ufc needs him as commentator
@@craighopkins4496 he would be such a good commentator! Dang I never even thought of that, His voice would go well for that and his knowledge.
Absolute beast on the ground
@@Ayoooo99-p3m could throw down on the feet tho...that's what makes him a beast in my eyes...the ground game was auto pilot
Mr. Mir you are without doubt the greatest submission artist regardless of weight in the history of the UFC.
Frank, PLEASE do the UFC commentary… like, forever. You’re one of those most perfect people to do that job
One of the best guys in the sport, period. Super humble and friendly guy, great communicator and commentator, intelligent, not to mention highly talented and a former champion. I don't know why they didn't hire him to work with Joe calling every major fight, that would have been a super combo. 100% hall of famer.
Frank is one of the dudes that made me want to do jujitsu. Years later almost brown belt. Oss.
Dude. Frank Mir is a waaaaaay better mind on the mic for these things than I tjought.
One of the best submission fighters in the game
That Nogueira kamora was what turned me into an MMA fan, Frank Mir will always be my goat🙏
Mir is a very well spoken dude
Probably my all time favourite mma fighter. What a legend
Bro have you seen his baby arm? 🦾🤣
@@VagPoop_ even better!
Frank trains with a pro strongman/powerlifter in Nick Best these days. Age or not, that combination of strength and technique together is absolutely terrifying if you are in the receiving end.
Anyone who thinks he doesn't belong in the hall of fame should just fight him....
dude is really well-spoken
Mir is very underrated and under appreciated. He deserves tons of respect.
Mir is such a great interview. He gave you so much.
Frank Mir is my all time fav MMA submission artists. The way we train; it gets into our head to give the guy time to tap. Unfortunately, some MMA opponents take advantage of the small space to escape. Frank, without being malicious, always put the sub on with full intent to finish.... or let go if there was a tap.
Mir was a spectacular commentator during fights.
I’ve met Frank Mir in person. He is a lot bigger than I thought he was.
I think getting beat by Brock in a devastating manner ruined his legacy to casual fans. Real fight fans remember how good Frank was.
Thank you Frank. Ran into him in LV. He’s a gentleman.
Listening to Mir try to explain torque physics was worth the watch.
I watched it live. It was an epic fight! Frank out on his feet at one point, then a chess match on the ground. A legendary UFC contest
Frank has some of the most brutal and nasty submissions in MMA history
Submissions are never nasty, you can tap out and you will be fine. It the other guy who intentionally wont quit an tap out.Actually all submissions are completely harmless, if your opponent chooses to tap out.
when he talked about that he would have thrown a leg kick at Sylvia’s broken arm had they restarted the fight reminded me of Aldo vs TKZ
Frank is a great guy
Before his motorcycle accident he was submitting everyone FAST! Insane jiu-jitsu from a heavyweight
I wish you were at ufc press conference chris. You're one of the best
Hes one of the best HW's ever. His stoppages are legendary. Extremely underrated.
great interview. Big Nog actually did start to tap right before his arm snapped.
cool to see that hurting his opponents is not something he is necessarily proud of. You can tell he has great sportsmanship and compassion the way he talks about these breaks.
He was my Favourite during he's Prime.
The fight with Tank was a crazy watched fight for back in the day...im glad he's respected like he is..😁👍💯
I'd have never thought, with as many shots to the head as he has taken, he'd be as eloquent and well spoken as he is. Jesus Frank, I'm a fucking fan.
Mir is a legend of the sport. Very tough, intelligent and well spoken
His kimura finish has got too be my top favourite submission in ufc,, the way frank mir is jus rolling with it, big nog trying everything he could to roll and get out, but frank was right there with it the whole time
And my 2nd favourite sub,, is Joe lauzon’s triangle choke on jamie varner,,, he sweeps varner and gets the choke
You can go back farther than that. He subbed Roberto Traven. Americans didn't really know who Roberto was, but I was shocked.
Frank was so great to watch 😁👍🏻
Frank Mir walks the Earth with physical impunity.
Frank is awesome to listen to, he is a great story teller and very knowledgeable.
Frank is the best commentator of all time
These "fights" are really friendly competitions
It's rare that there is bad blood between the fighters
Frank Mir is one of the best grapplers in MMA. I still remember when he made Brock Lesnar tap. A genuine David vs Goliath moment.
wow just makes Mir that much more likeable never knew he had this side.
Yea in the fight he clearly pauses, giving Nog a chance to tap out... only then does he respectfully break the arm. Classy.
Loved this full interview
The “not wanting to maim” attitude was the polar opposite attitude he had when he fought Tank Abbott.
BROCK TOOK MIR'S SOUL THOUGH
Frank mir legend one of the very best one of the smartest fighters 💪
Never ask champ a question, he doesn't shut up. 😂
Mir was an absolute punk, and still is by the looks of things
Maybe randy couture but he wasn't the greatest striker and fedor of course. But frank mir was like the first well rounded complete mma heavyweight. Definitely ahead of his time.
Good to see Frank so sharp after all his battles. Still makes me cringe when I think of him pinned and pounded by that lunch box hand of Lesnar's. 😬
True legend and great character in the sport. ✌💛
He's a great interviewee
If that motorcycle thing never happened he wouldn't have had any losses. He was that fucking good.
I agreed with Frank on most everything he said here. But I have mixed feelings about it. I'm just thinking you couldn't just submit them, did you break it too soon? I don't know, just mixed feelings. Am I wrong? Not judging Frank. Thanks
Frank is tough as fuck but so intelligent.
good explanation, thanks.
Too bad we never got to see him on the ground with Werdum . The 2 best submission artists in mma history .
Frank has Meme qualifications
Mir broke Sylvia's forearm using his cup as the leverage point.
Got to use your assets. The cup is there, what did you want him to do, stop the fight, take the cup off, and then continue the arm bar? What a joke of a hater you are.
If mir locks in good luck getting out of that submission. The one guy nobody could escape his submission attempts
After watching him as a coach on the ultimate fighter I was never really a fan of his, but this dudes deserves his respect. He beat a lot of top ranked fighters in their prime. Can’t take that away from him, and probably where the ego comes from haha
Rotator cuff is 100 times worst than broken bone. I'm over 2 years after injury, still not fully recovered.
Really wish he’d commentate on the ufc.
We had a 17 year old do that same move to an older "vegan" in training who refused to tap and his entire upper arm bone shattered ... it was funny but that sound still gives me chills 10 years later -- ha ha! (dude had to get a lot of titanium rods into his arm) ...
100% Hall of Fame.
Frank Mir was such a bad dude, that Nogueira kimura was so awesome!
bro he wasnpt saying this at the time. maybe it was just promotion or intimidation but back then we was like yeah I broke their arm and I'll fo it again
You don't realize how big he is until he's next to someone normal. A scary opponent!
It was like sitting next to an elephant.
Love this frank is a genius 😂
My best fighter
I remember watching the nogueira fight live. so brutal.
Mir was really great in a few positions. He was loosing that fight when he got that position.
The only way Big Nog would escape was if Mir let it go and both guys knew it. Nog should/could have tapped, we can't put it on Mir.
Check Jon Jones vs Vitor Belfort. It was the most close to a defeat Jones got in his life and people don't talk too much about it. It is what happens when you have a chance like that and let it slip like Vitor did.
He was Paul Harris before Paul Harris
It was pretty humorous
I did not like Mir when I was watching and I don't know why, but now when he's talking on podcasts I feel like I was a dumb ass and he's worth listening to.
This guy is great.
😳 This dude looks like he could tie you in freakin' knots, even WITHOUT training
All time great!
Not a doctor, but I'm guessing it's easier to heal bone than heal a torn rotator cuff
The fact you’re retired and giving an interview on RUclips on how you broke a couple of dangerous other former ufc fighters is the just the baddest thing
Cigar suits him good
Yeah, would be a much better commentator than Bisping, or DC
“Manuerism” 💎
I don't know how didn't have a belt.. my favorite fighter for shutting Brock Lesnar up first!
He really needs to get back behind the mic to analyze fights.
I think Mir is cool dude. I hope he’s doing well
He is a great fighter, respect given. But a huge ego and disrespectful. Lesnar turned his face to hamburger meat after Mir laughed and mocked him. He deserved being humbled in a humiliating way that night. Give him HOF, but on that night, the WWE star he mocked so much beat the holy shit out of him in the most epic way possible :). He should accept his HOF induction and say "I am proud to have been the Silver medal to Lesnars Gold. I wouldn't say any of this had he not been such a cocky prick during that time :)
Respect
On paper Big Nog had the better standup/boxing, yet got tko'd by Mir. On Paper Big Nog had the better BJJ, yet got sub'd by Mir.
Hall of fame ufc
When the referee says stop for 5 seconds that doesn’t mean keep pressing. And he swallowing his saliva means how to make a story. Holy sh. Just saw the other fight. This guy mir is a non needed fighter for the UFC. He’s dirty and this interview makes everyone think. What kind of anything is he on. He’s off on all ways.
What does it feel like to get punched in the face by Brock lesnar with fists that are as big as lunchboxes.
Good man
