OKAY i hope this video goes viral because this was so wonderful! seems to be so much noise out there in the "interiors" world and this was super informative! thank u!
thank you ☺️ i feel like so much out there is opinion & trying to convince others that you have more money than you actually have. i’m much more interested in colors, shapes, proportions, etc
I've never thought about or heard anyone mention "not having any black" in a space but there's definitely something to that! Adding a bit of black metal, wood, or fabric is something that I've done in almost every room but without realizing why I thought it needed that🤔 loved hearing your thoughts on all these things!❤
I really disagree with solid coloured couches not being ideal… I like to treat my couches like a base that I can then decorate with different blankets and pillows (in moderation, of course!) I feel like if I had patterned couches, I would have much less leeway to change up the other less expensive elements in the room as often as I’d like.
I clicked on your video with no expectations, but I actually loved your point of view ! Currently renovating an old French house, and looking for great design ideas to pay respects to the history of the house while still making it functional and cozy. As another commenter said, Bravo from France ;)
OH MY GODDDDD i'm half way through and i have never been able to articulate some of these things and YOU HAVE THE WORDS!!! you totally nailed it and in such achievable and understandable way. new sub!
It would be interesting to hear you talk about design informed by your personal experience. How do you have design reflect your life -- who you are, and how to create an interior that reflects that back to you? That tells your story? And how do you design for disability, physical or mental? It feels like you would have a powerful voice about that.
alot of value in this! I really agreed at 10 mins. I personally think it is a shame that boho has a bad wrap when there is a way to add bohemian elements in a classic way. it has a long history and the name actually came from the Romani who were coming from eastern Europe through chec and Bohemia in germany! its not all cheap and tacky and juvenile. so much richness, creativity and craftsmanship to draw inspiration from throughout history.
exactly!! design gets so much more interesting when you find inspiration from actual historical movements, instead of just looking at a single “design style” on pinterest that’s some bland, watered down abomination of what it used to be lol
You give words to things I feel/see but didn’t know why. Love your content and your personality. I have a gallery wall in my living room (with art I collected slowly for years) and pretty chairs that hurt butts. Wooops.
10:52 I’m german and because of our history it seems REALLY weird to have a traditional thing in our homes. Always has fascist undertones. Which is also the reason for us not being very patriotic and outspoken for our traditions and culture
i'll participate if someone else buys a tv or if i'm in someone else's space, but i'll probably never buy a tv for my own home once i get to live alone. it's just not something i value 🤷♀️
Hey there, I really like your videos, please KEEP doing videos. You have an amazing personality. I don't know what is but RUclips is showing the video at 480p? Perhaps a way to increase the resolution would be great, as well as a better mic would help wonders. I really hope you keep pushing with these videos.
oh thank you for letting me know, i hadn’t caught that! i’ll definitely look into it for future videos, but for right now, i’m working with a beginner dslr that was not made for video (to put it nicely lol). i’ve got a snowball mic, but this video was also in a new environment (dog sitting) with extra noises & not much i could do in terms sound absorption. let me know if the more recent videos in my new apartment sound better! i’ve been experimenting with mic placement & i definitely want a directional mic as my next one, which should help with that too. also again thank you so much for the patreon pledge 🥰
The slumlord I am dealing with INSISTS that I get an electrician to swap out lighting fixtures because they assume that all tenants are arsonists who long to start electrical fires.
Thanks so much for mentioning that English style isn't the only classic style. There is one design RUclipsr I love but if I hear another ode to British style being the end all be all and they never explore another culture it's going to be frustrating. There are beautiful designs all over the world but for some reason it's like if everything doesn't nod to British, Japanese, or Scandi it's not cool. I've been consciously trying to make an effort to mix in various cultural references in my own home. For instance I recently purchased some Nigerian horn and stone vessels and it has definitely mixed up the vibe.
yes, exactly! there’s a lot to love about british style, but “traditional” shouldn’t be synonymous with the colonization of the entire world. there are so many beautiful cultures & traditions out there. and those vessels sound stunning!
Ok look, I love almost all of these and I get it, BUT. Hear me out. N.45 (only medium or high pile carpets in living rooms and bedrooms) is an absolutely not for me because I have pets and I am NOT cleaning those rugs constantly. They would look horrible even if I was. Also I wear slippers all year long so I don't mind the low pile nearly as much. Everyonbe coming into my home wears slippers too. I'll provide them if guests don't have/bring any, both for hygene and for safety reasons as I get critters inside fairly often, including scorpions, and no one wants to put their naked foot on one of those.
Somehow, I think a room with a lot of books doesn’t need plants as much as a room with little to no books. I can’t explain it, but books just feel like living things to me. 🫶🏾
i’ve currently got a rug that’s the wrong size, a gray couch, and a metal lampshade (among many others). what are your design mistakes??
my couches are against the wall LOL
nooooo lol 😅

you’ve got strong intuition 👌

that’s totally fair! a solid couch makes a lot more sense in your context 👍
@@anticapitalisthomedesign yeah different strokes for different folks I guess haha ☺️
I am so inspired by your tips! Needing black objects to balance the depth in a space... that is revolutionary!
thanks friend ✨

i love those ideas! i’ll definitely add them to my list of upcoming videos ✨

10/10 video, I learned so much! I currently have too many plants and definitely not enough soft lighting in my living room
i’m glad it was helpful ✨

lol 😝 glad i’ve been able to name some things for you
interesting about the "black" I've never heard that before~
Wrong size rug in living room, flat weave rug in bedroom, no DIY anywhere!
nice lol 👍

oof. totally fair lol 👍
You don't watch TV or movies with your friends and family?! Huh? Totally agree about not having it too high though...

that’s when tulip shades (or diy alternatives) are the perfect choice!
Bravo!! from France :)
merci ✨
