    I would not laugh about that meager 70hp as the car is very light and had great handling. That is the reason how they won that many races. A good power to weight ratio is much more important then power alone. And a good handling in curves helps on the track a lot.

    When I was a kid my father owned a 1/2 prototype Speedster originally _______ (designed by isn’t the right word, neither is built) so I’ll just leave it blank, essentially the idea was first thought of and planned out by Al Holbert, but he died before he could finish creating it, so it was finished by a close friend of his and some of Holbert’s mechanics from his dealership. The car was a heavily modified 1982 Targa, and kept to the original concept of what a Speedster should be: ie it was completely stripped out, without windows (except for the windshield) rear seats, ac, etc etc. By the end of the day the modifications made the car 400 lbs lighter, and it ran a quarter mile time about as fast as the 911 Turbos of the day. Ofc this was never a Porsche design, so it would probably be more apt to call it an Outlaw Speedster, but idk 🤷… All I know is that my dream is to one day be able to buy the car back from its current owner as my father is no longer alive to do so.

    I’ve never heard “cabriolet” pronounced that way, or near that often.
    I checked 6 different pronunciations sites, and all of them emphasize the first syllable, including the digital announcer that also sounded out the “T”. Can’t find any phonetic or spoken versions that put the emphasis on the “O” as this commentator chooses to do. I’ve surely been incorrect on words previously, but I believe the entire world, aside from this gent, tend to say “KA-brree-o-lay”. Hell, I’ll even go for “ka-bree-o-LAY”, if you’re French.

    Sold a 16 911 Club Coupe in Porsche's beautiful Club Blau color. PCA members had to put their name in a hat and be randomly selected to spec one out. Pretty sure it's based on the 911 GTS, not the 911 S.
    Then there's also the 991.2 Endurance Racing Edition.
    The 991.1 50th anniversary
    These are personally my favorites.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  2 года назад

      Porsche has seemed to find a pretty common style that works well for them and is in a way also a sense of brand identity.
      I do wish they would take more risks and stray from their pattern as the times they do they make some really great looking cars (not saying modern Porsches don’t look good!). Alas, I don’t see that happening outside of the rare occasion.

    Nothing about a slantnose turbo or 959? Don't know how many 959's were actually built but it has to be a low number.

    • @CarsLifeYT
      @CarsLifeYT  3 года назад

      I think there were 42 slantnose turbos in total? Not actually sure, but I believe the number is slightly higher than the rest here.
      As for the 959, there were over 330 produced. They aren’t street legal in the US so there’s not many here outside of imports.

    The 911 SC/RS was a homogatuin special to get the 911 into group B rallying ! Dave Richards from Prodrive ran the cars - They were very sucessful here in Ireland with Henri Toivonen Billy Coleman and Saeed Al Hajari to name but a few - cars ran in 84 and 85. Great times and really suitable for Irish roads ! You will have to ask about Cathal CB Curley who in the 70s was unbeatable in a 2.7 RS 911 and later a 3.0 RSR 911
