I love this quote from Rumi - "When I run after what I think I want, my days are a furnace of stress and anxiety; if I sit in my own place of patience, what I need flows to me, and without pain. From this I understand that what I want also wants me, is looking for me and attracting me. There is a great secret here for anyone who can grasp it"

That’s a great quote. This reminds me of some lessons I’ve learned on RUclips explaining that life is about relationships and you have a relationship with every single thing in your life including material objects. We all know someone where money seems to run from them or women or they even always have bad luck, etc. It’s because they have a negative relationship with these specific things based on their attitude, thinking and actions towards those specific things. I’ve found in my own life that in strange ways you can borrow the mentality you have with your successful relationships and apply that mentality to say money, luck, or anything in your life because I’ve found everything to be universal. It’s a spiritual principle but I’ve found it to be effective in my life!

This is how I found my wife. I spent my teenage years trying desperately to find someone, but that was too much pressure to put on a new relationship. Once I focused on being a good person, and finding good people, she naturally came into my life and we naturally found each other.

I had a friend who wanted to become a successful RUclipsr and RUclips became all he focused on, releasing high quality videos everyday with the goal of making it by 2023 but before 2022 ended he got burnt out and quit.
There's nothing wrong with working hard, I want to become a successful self improvement RUclipsr like my friend but I learned, I can't try to force and expect it to happen within a certain amount of time and just let it happen when it happens

"becoming a succesful RUclipsr" isn't something you can let happen to you. For that, you need to work, hard. When working hard, it will partially be luck as to whether you become succesful or not. That may count as 'letting' it happen, but it cannot manifest without working towards it. So, him getting burnt-out doesn't conclude to not working at all. It should conclude to understanding boundaries.

To actively decide to not think negative thoughts does at some point end in happiness.

There's so much wisdom to doing that. When I was younger I spent years in unnecessary misery because I refused to even believe that I could stop thinking negatively. I thought that was something you had no choice over, that you just needed to accept your thoughts as truth. Now I see that you can simply decide "that's enough" and stop, then reorient yourself toward positive thoughts. It's such a wonderful blessing to have this choice.

Here’s a simpler solution - distinguish between trying to be happy and happiest. If you’re always wanting to be happiest then of course it’s a tough precedent to live up to, but if you’re always wanting to just be happy then you choose to see the upside of every small thing and your mindset is opposed to being pessimistic or inclined towards despair, whereas gratefulness becomes easier regardless of the situation.

One of my best friend told me "The best thing I got out of self development was to learn to get out of self development."
It's great to learn stuff about ourselves and do some soul searching. But we became narcissists. Everything is about us, and the fulfilment of our desires. We need to be pretty, intelligent and wealthy. Capitalism centered around self development and spirituality created this counter intuitive belief that we need to be better and in turn be someone we're not.
When we're always chasing the next big goal, we're always doing things instead of being. When doing, achievement and becoming get more attention and value than being, we can only be stressed.
Coaches and "masters" are selling success and happiness. Most of them only have our best interests on a surface level.
For me I found that the truth about my existence is that I'm imperfect. I will fail and make mistakes. Things will never always go my way, no matter how much control and willpower I have. But life is beautiful. If we stop to look, hear and feel, happiness is already here. If we start loving ourselves and accepting our very short existence, we start feeling happiness from a deep and profound place.

Seeking is the opposite of happiness because happiness isn't an object you can touch or see or hear. It comes naturally when it is ready and conditions are right, not when it is asked or begged for or chased after.

I think is not about pursing a goal that makes it elusive, I think is the focus on your current state compare to the goal that makes you focus on the bad things that makes you in the same state.
You will only accomplish things you think you can accomplish it, and you behave as you can accomplish.

Wow, amazing how it relates directly to being grateful in life, be grateful for whatever you have, I guess this will make you somewhat stop seeking for happiness which you might already have but you don’t know it. Ultimately the gratitude will actually bring the happiness to you.

The trip leading to happiness happened for me. I traveled out of the country to a place I recently became interested in and miraculously, knowing someone, lead to the opportunity of going and having a place to stay. When I got there I was pretty drained and unethused. Throughout the trip I was depressed but still tried to make the best of it. Idk why I immediately felt homesick or didn't attain hardly a glimpse of happiness even though I wanted the experience of going out of the country. I did make a friend out of the experience and made some great memories.

Happiness is what we are, not what we do. You can notice it from your childhood memory. When we were a child it didn’t matter what would happen, everything, everyday seemed so interesting and wonderful (or full of wonder). Because of social conditioning, we forgot what happiness is.

I don't know what happiness means to be honest. Is it spending time with friends and share a good meal ? Is it to raise a child ? Is it a romantic relationship ? Is it winning the lottery ? I believe that people mistake happiness with the experience itself. All that is an experience and there's no happiness to expect out of It. It's fleeting anyway and won't last. The only way to feel happy is to feel your eternal presence that will never die and abide within. All the rest is illusory.

This is a very dangerous statement, said like this, people would think that you need to do nothing to be happy, but if you do nothing, nothing will happen to you, unless you are a bastard that got genetically lucky and needs to be purged because they don't deserve anything they have as they NEVER worked for anything or suffered like others that are WAY more deserving than those tyrants.

Excellent! My only caveat is that there are studies that show people intentionally trying to be happy, by certain methods (e.g., gratitude or savoring) do actually become more happy, at least for the time being. So to some degree, you can "pursue happiness" without having it backfire on you. But I think your more general points are strong, and I was not aware of the study you cited. Thanks.

My interpretation of stop chasing / seeking is to transcend your goals. I started seeking things that are more complete or difficult than my old goals, and thus would reach my old goals in the process. For example, mike Tyson’s defense was so spectacular because he was constantly setting up and looking for openings for a counter, thus inadvertently creating an amazing defense.

    why you can’t change
    1) change your environment, don’t be stuck where you can’t grow
    2) no pity party, DO SOMETHING TO INACT CHANGE
    3) remove toxic situations; get out of survival mode or find support groups; find a third place
    4) prioritize yourself (health, mentality, etc); find ways to practice peace
    5) step out of your COMFORT ZONE; it ends w me
    6) focus on habits to ACHIEVE GOALS (map out goals and ways to get there)
    7) PUSH THROUGH; if it’s hard, it is supposed to be when you are going through change; don’t quit
    8) take accountability for how you hurt yourself and think “how good can life get”
    9) SEEK KNOWLEDGE, listen to what can help you evolve, skip the BS
    10) stop the comparison, regular life can be enough for you
notes: be grateful; you are deserving of what comes to you! God bestowed this for you to achieve.
    LETS BREAK THE MENTAL RESISTANCE
