No. You don't control what happens to you. Cancer will not lessen just because the cancer patient has stopped caring about it. Stop stressing about your poverty and the poverty will remain as it is or worsen. People use these kind of silly arguments to avoid negative emotions. Life IS suffering.
It's not that caring less will lessen the situation. The situation will remain the exact same or even became worse but the idea here is to master your attitude towards the situation you're facing. Not to solve it, as a cure but as a way to perceive things around you.
I don't earn alot, I don't have friend or girlfriend. But I find the rise of mental health issue completely against my experience. Other may look down on me to be poor, no acheivement but those same people are stressed with work, stressed with debt or mortgage for their big house, car, branded goods, stressed with quarrel with significant others, some even feel life is miserable or even consider to unalive themself. Yet to me who have little, I love this life, I am in peace, I enjoyed the simple meal and occasional more expensive food. I manage to have gradually grow my saving, as I barely spend much. This life and world is beautiful for I had decided to free myself of societal expectation or other people opinion. I mainly try to practice the philosophy of Daoism, Buddhism and Stoicism.
This is very similar to my experience and so I can relate with exactly what you are saying. Less is more and simple is a path to satisfaction and happiness in my opinion.
I feel the same. I used to think there was something wrong with me, because I didnt have ambitions like other people. But I realized that in the same way that having ambitions and always want more is the mainstream thought of society, so is to have mental conflicts all the time, I see that on almost everyone I know. It was absurd to think I was living "the wrong way" if all I have in my life is peace.
That trying too hard part reminds me of a quote I found...."some people look for a beautiful place, others make a place beautiful." What a great saying.
This is on point, but with a nuance. The idea is to not care and be happy with what you have. The nuance is that to be content, you need to be in a situation where you are not starving or freezing. There has to be some sense of stability to be able to be content. The stability meaning, that your basic needs are met and then you can be happy without running after anything in the luxury category.
I have a friend of mine who is completely pleasure driven, a very conventional “sheep of the herd” and thinks of me as a loser just because I decided not to follow conventions and choose my own path. He pitied on me for “having bad luck” and hence choosing the path towards learning philosophy but then I tell him that I have pity towards him because he never experienced the true beauty of meaningful suffering and never ended up discovering his true self, only ending up being an addict to substances for most of his life and having a friend group who does the same. Things aren’t always as they appear, happiness is much deeper than material success or even good luck! ☯️

It is assuming that "rich" people are discontent, and poor people are happy. Not true. It is a state of mind. You can be happy with everything or nothing.
I see as whether you are rich or poor, if you care about material things to give you joy or desire/obtain them to show others “you can afford them” or get in a trend, then you are not going to be happy. “Money cant buy happiness, but i’d rather cry in a Ferrari parked in a 2 million dollars home” 😂

Gosh I love these videos. They are so calming. I feel ancient texts are so valuable, because they expose the simplistic ways of living and thinking that used to exist but don't any more in the modern world. Coming back to that is really valuable.
This definitely applies to me. When my friends or other relatives ask why I'm still single all these years I said: Having a family of my own will just constitute to unnecessary pressures in life therefore, I have no mental peace in that" because for me freedom and peace from existing societal pressures is the true wealth anyone can have
Recently I did not have the greatest interview. Because I cared so much level of my stress was quite high... Because of that I could speak calm, thus it could be one of the reasons, why it did not go further. However, realizing that there are quite many jobs out there, and there are many opportunities to learn from, it makes me calm. Thank you for the video!
that's fantastic, everything we desire, everything we need is truly within us not outside, we don't have to go anywhere or do anything, just go within. :)

Good timing. For me learning to care less has also helped me learn to be more mindful of what I really do and do not care about, like who needs a perfect social reputation when you can just ignore nearly all the rest of society and live authentically and learn to be on your own where you have more freedom to express your true self in all it's positives and imperfections with little to no need to impress others, and so you'll be truly at peace

It seems to me that more and more people today follow this philosophy and I like less and less this kind of world.. I want to live in a community where everyone cares about others and I know living in community like that would make me truly happy. Making happy just yourself and do just what you want gets old pretty fast and next thing you know you feel empty inside.. If you don't have loving people or even animals around you.. All those old hermit stories are good for gaining another perspective, but I see all of them as people who developed very effective coping mechanisms that's all.. We are social animals and there is no way around that..

Facts! If it’s just me the happier I will be. I can’t imagine having kids and constantly worry about if they’re safe when they’re out of my sight. I already do enough of that over my siblings.
People, in my opinion, including myself, often tend to struggle identifying the fine line between when it's necessary to actually care and when to just let go. Stoicism definitely has useful insights in this regard. The recurring theme of non-attachment across Buddhist and Taoist scriptures seem so vital, it sometimes surprises me how these are not mandatory subjects in every school and other educational institutions.
@@chriswilliams8159 I hit the jackpot when I finally stumbled across some basic Stoicism. Practicing the simplest techniques saved my life more than once since then. The amount of control over life's toll on my emotions alone was/is like night and day. Still it's unfortunate it was well into my adult years, and out of desperation to survive overwhelming mental anguish. I'm more suspicious than surprised it's not a basic mandatory school subject. It's been my observation that narcissistic people still always try to frame it as some kind of callous form of malicious bigotry with their sick, endless fight for control to tell us what to think. I just wanted to add, that once you do adopt this attitude of not caring, of accepting the bounties of life wherever they are... it makes living and doing whatever you want more more achievable, realistic, and inspires a sense of passion that might be obstructed by past feelings of trauma, stress or being trapped. Wishing everyone a great day, Best

Less you care, happier you will be. Completely agree! However, I am not in control of how much I care!! I've spent years working on this, even managing 6 months or more not caring. Great. But deep down, in my subconscious and out of my control something still cares. So it is effectively suppressed... Then one day you suddenly explode, and it is so much worse than if you had actually cared all that time! The act of psudo-not-caring means that situations slowly get worse (I mean "worse" to the now festering subconscious). Now if I GENUINELY didn't care then the premise is true. But that is the trap, one isn't free to choose whether or not one truly deeply cares about something or not! To believe otherwise just stores up a world of pain, the longer you keep believing it, the worse it will be when it finally gives...
The message seems to be, to not care about things that need no caring. Or more simply, to not create unnecessary dependencies that you could have avoided. Like if you have friends, you would obviously care about them and how things in their life are, but don't go around buying a car just because all your friends have one and you don't need one but feel like getting one to match their standard. Care only where it's needed, take only what you want and feel comfortable with, no more, no less. That's my primary take, though will have to re watch it.
also to add, don't use unnecessary energy worrying or caring what others think of you. As long as you like yourself and did your best for whatever situation you're dwelling your thoughts on, that's all that matters.
Dropping gold as usual. The more you have the more you have to worry about. What others say that is important might not be that important in reality. When you realize that nothing stops when you are gone and the world never really needed you a weight is lifted off of you. Realize that your value is within you not in what you can have. Live to treasure that with self care and positive connections. Many blessings 🙏🏾
I chose this path before I ever knew what philosophy was, now the only worry is health and income, even a small amount to provide shelter, nourishment & warmth, although I am blessed with minimal worry compared to many.
One can care very much and still be happy. Happiness has nothing to do with caring or not caring. It has to do with whether we are attached, possessive or not. We can experience anything; if we don't grasp, force, etc. we are happy. It is happiness without a reason. When happiness must depend on a reason for being, it is a recipe for unhappiness.
I'm listening to this sitting atop a hill overlooking a lake on vacant property. I took a fun trail through the woods on my cheap motorcycle to get here with a thermos of coffee and a fishing pole, I plan to sit here, breath fresh air in peace and watch these hawks soar above the field adjascent. It's a magnificent 72° afternoon after my 3-day 30 hour work week coming off a 5 day weekend. I work less than 200 days a year. I listen and think of how captured everyone else I know is. Life is good with the right decisions, NEVER follow the herd folks... never.🙃
Your survival matters. That's the basic, most fundamental and important purpose of life. We humans are here to fight the most important battle : survival. We cannot dismiss it, ignore it, be indifferent about it.
Very true. These earthly things we care about mean nothing. It's all a distraction. Peace and enlightenment come from hard battles within not finding comfort externally
I'll buy peace and trade my stress to others once I'm rich. I'll begin to enjoy and cherish life, I'll appreciate what I have in front of me once I'm famous and loved by all. Strangers and friends will want to be around me all the time, and I will be free to pick and choose who I call my friends. Oh, I can't wait to be someone special. I can't wait to be worshipped for all my talents and abilities. Once I'm rich and famous, then will people finally see how I see myself, special and deserving of the good life, but also better than the rest of you who aren't somebody special like me.
The less you possess, the less you care, the less you speak, the less you overthink, the less you eat, the less you consume unnecessary stuff...all these will have a significantly positive impact on your mental & emotional well-being overtime...LESS is always MORE! 😊❤
My brain needs to be fed. Being ambitious helps me focus my energy. Not for fame or glory, but to remain calm and happy. That organ needs to be used. Unlike Lie Tzu’s idea that ambition disrupts our natural state, I find it essential for keeping my mind sharp and at ease.
I 100% choose the life of a rich man. For me life is all about achieving something exceptional, endlessly winning and triumphing at all cost. But in the end it's all about being true to yourself. If the conventionally called "loser" path seems like the best possible scenario for your life, then so be it.
I have found that Ashwagandha helps me "not care." I would note, however, that taking too much can result in not caring to the point of loss of motivation.
I've begun to care less at work, and everyone listens to what I have to say now. So I'm actually doing better now at work by caring less. WTF, but whatever. Physical appearance and mental health are about as good as they have ever been though thanks to gym dedication...that might have something to do with it also.
Our capitalist system necessarily makes us cogs in the wheel to continue it's existence. What could be more dehumanizing than such a singular utilitarian existence. This video is so spot on to expose the fate to which we have assigned ourselves.

10:03 But the tree is still being useful. It's still providing oxygen through photosynthesis. It's still doing it's job. 5:28 ❌️ Terrible terrible mistake in interpretation. Doing nothing means inaction in action. "Being in the zone". It's a wise line. The concept of wu wei, or "doing nothing" in Chinese, is about being at peace while engaged in tasks so that they can be carried out with maximum skill and efficiency. All of us cannot live like the elderly hermit. We need to do atleast something and contribute to the societies we live in... instead of just being lazy and accepting inaction as a way of happy living. Instead of always TAKING things from this world 🌎 all the time... we need to think what is OUR GIFT to this world we are born in, which provides us with so much everyday 🤍 (And yes, we can do our part in a stress free way)

There are many paths to happiness. All of them are distinguished by satisfaction.
Good life is the act of balance
Dropping gold as usual. The more you have the more you have to worry about. What others say that is important might not be that important in reality. When you realize that nothing stops when you are gone and the world never really needed you a weight is lifted off of you. Realize that your value is within you not in what you can have. Live to treasure that with self care and positive connections. Many blessings 🙏🏾
Huh, I didn’t know I had reached enlightenment. I just thought I was an antisocial ass, perfectly fine alone in my meager house. Yay me.😂
Lol,u2?
It's not about being selfish but about not caring more than you should
I chose this path before I ever knew what philosophy was, now the only worry is health and income, even a small amount to provide shelter, nourishment & warmth, although I am blessed with minimal worry compared to many.
Life is good with the right decisions, NEVER follow the herd folks... never.🙃
Excellent video. Btw I loved this kind of animations, is refreshing to see
As usual, you really made my day. 💕
Just what I needed to hear.
Let's laugh and sing!
Thank you.
Yes..the more we care less the more our life is well. Being care less is not controlling everything.
Nothing matters, and everything is as it should be.
Your survival matters. That's the basic, most fundamental and important purpose of life. We humans are here to fight the most important battle : survival. We cannot dismiss it, ignore it, be indifferent about it.
@@Hurt-to-Healing So the meaning of life is to live, eh? I agree
The less you care, the closer you'll become enlightened.
Very true. These earthly things we care about mean nothing. It's all a distraction. Peace and enlightenment come from hard battles within not finding comfort externally
Enlightenment comes when you stop caring about enlightenment. It’s just another “thing to chase.”
@@Raptor_Renenlightenment comes when you stop caring about stopping caring about enlightenment, its just another thing to chase
Who cares about enlightenment? :)
enlightenment comes when you stop caring about stopping caring about stopping caring about enlightenment, its just another thing to chase
This is a very powerful message with the current society we live in and all the expectations it come with
I love your Taoist videos!!! These are my favorites 😊
This video was so good that my eyes got watery a few times. Beautiful.
Once I'm rich and famous, then will people finally see how I see myself, special and deserving of the good life, but also better than the rest of you who aren't somebody special like me.
i started gardening from a wisdom, 'be like the plant. its just quiet in its life growing to be big and strong'
The less you possess, the less you care, the less you speak, the less you overthink, the less you eat, the less you consume unnecessary stuff...all these will have a significantly positive impact on your mental & emotional well-being overtime...LESS is always MORE! 😊❤
There is no necessary connection between less caring and more happiness, but only conditionally
So much wisdom to be learned from this.
Thanks Einzelgänger. ❤
My ambition lies within myself, not on the petty things around me.
Thank you for posting this.
HAPPINESS IS
HAVING
YOUR OWN APPROVAL
and
appreciating your

No tree is useless. They provide shade from tbe sun and filter the sunlight and rain that nourish the ground beneath.
i love these videos, always reminds me that detachment is key 😌
Wonderful & timing is excellent, ty, 🙏
Excellent video 👍 Thank you 💜
Cultivating contentment is a very good place to start.
Thank you very much for the video, Einzelgänger ❤❤.
This video is enlighten me.
Never been this early on an Einzelganger vid wow
Me too, buddy !😂
Actually, I often watch his videos almost 1 or 2 month after upload!
I relate to this on a very deep level.
Morning all
I don't care.
It’s afternoon in South Africa 🇿🇦 😅… but good morning to you too 😊
@@suchhun😂😂😂… good one
Night in India.. 😂
Namo Buddhaya! Great video, focus on what you have, the only happy way!
Many thanks for the wisdom❤❤
I have found that Ashwagandha helps me "not care." I would note, however, that taking too much can result in not caring to the point of loss of motivation.
Good like Maca root, but consider the source. Some soils are tainted with heavy metals ect
The tree story was really profound! Great video!
Thank you so much for sharing this Taoist practical wisdom prodding us to care less and be more content!!!
Wonderful channel by far the best of it's type ❤
Great video.
Great storytelling! Love it…thanks for sharing it with us!
I should be here more often.
the illustrations are a delight :)
Yes, most people chase things that other people say is valuable. Don't run in someone else's circuit, that carrot probably wasn't meant for you.
To be careless is to care for less and who'd wanna take care of anything less and becomes less appreciated
The key is to find out what truly matters to you(!) (and what not) and act on that. This task seems easy on the surface but can actually be very difficult/confusing.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO SO MUCH, THANK YOU
I've self sabotaged many times. Not because I'm scared of failure - though that's happened. Many times its been to avoid feeling trapped by accolades
Perfect timing 😌 ☕️
I am happy. Enough is enough ❤
Don't live so your presence is noticeable, live so your absence is felted.
Bob Marley.
Instead of always TAKING things from this world 🌎 all the time... we need to think what is OUR GIFT to this world we are born in, which provides us with so much everyday 🤍
(And yes, we can do our part in a stress free way)
Thanks for the wisdom. Thanks 🙏
