    I’m finding myself at my depths of my depression, watching this video, and learning that it’s not that I’m a uncompassionate person, I’m just burnt out. I have so much love to give and I just need to learn to give it without the romanticized self-sacrifice.

    An undefeatable mind -my favorite section here. Also great discussion of "people pleasing", suppressing genuine emotions, and the need for discernment in relationships. Thank you for sharing this with us 🙏

    Managing and controlling myself is the most important thing I've learned in my life. Stoicism is the foundation to that understanding.

    Stoicism is not about passivity but rather a strategic effort that aligns with the natural order of the world, leading to a life of depth, meaning, and tranquility.

    Leverage = no effort; it’s about finding what your strengths are and what gives you energy.
    Unececery struggles/ effort; do what takes your energy and do things you are weak & hate
    Chose your problems and struggles to grow wisely, if not life will give you some

    This is food for the travelling soul. There are times I imagine myself passing through death. Like I welcome it with any reaction I am used to. Funny, dramatic, epic, and even non-sense. I go to my post as a "Watcher". Thank you!

    *Effortless living, in the eyes of a Stoic, is not about avoiding effort, but about aligning our energy with what truly matters. It’s the art of accepting what we cannot control, focusing only on our actions and inner virtues, and letting go of the restless need to chase external validation or success. By cultivating resilience, mindfulness, and clarity, we learn to navigate life’s challenges with grace, finding peace not in the absence of adversity but in our unshakable ability to respond with wisdom. The key to effortless living is in simplicity-living with purpose, detached from outcomes, and fully present in each moment.*

    I awoke to the final ten minutes and truly listened to every word and intonation. So beautiful and sounded like the words of a dying man or at the least one who believed they may demise. So moving and certainly stoic thoughts. Loved it.

    Marcus Aurelius once said, 'You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.' How do you apply this wisdom in your daily life to navigate challenges and maintain peace? Looking forward to reading your thoughts and experiences! 🌟

    No effort means no growth. It is our struggles that make us. Can you gain something for nothing? Yes but it will be percieved as worth less.

    • @floorcoatin4u
      @floorcoatin4u 9 месяцев назад +14

      Effort does not equal growth. Put effort into one thing, you may get better better surround that thing. If you continue, you can only reach such a level to where you are no longer learning. In order to you must step aside normal routines, introduce a break in that routine, otherwise you get stuck into a loop of reoccurrence, never being introduced into new concepts and possibilities. That is how one grows. What perceived by other and ourselves towards everything is subjective. What is worth to me may not be to you, success to one may be financial to where another it may raising children with the wisdom they have learned through their own experience. Some people want to live simple lives like that of a vagabond, maximizing the minimalist mindset, others cant and feel those people to need help to want more. Perception is like the truth, its unique to every individual.

      I think both comments are correct. We may not realize the gifts given to us until we struggle for some things in life because we have to work so hard for them. God knows what He is doing. 🙏💜

      I understand the skepticism. Our society equates effort with value/growth, a principle deeply ingrained in our culture and economy. It's kinda hard to see beyond that idea. I grappled with the concept too. I recommend reading Tao Te Ching, such an eye-opening read.

    The Philosophy of stoicism - a way of life dating back to ancient Greece, which offers a different approach to life and success. It emphasizes the importance of letting things happen naturally, rather than constantly striving against them.

    Stoicism was not originally Greek, it's far older from Chinese history. It's the Tao Te Ching. Greeks claim alot as their own, as with invention & technologies from Egypt. Research it.

      You're weak. Letting a minor annoyance stop you from learning is childish. You must try to emulate a Grown Man. In this way, you will grow strong enough to ignore minor things that distract us from learning. Grammar, really grammar got you. I thought that only happened to old ladies who taught English in the 60s. Wait, is this Miss Davis?
