Skip Texas 🥴 give me the 1.3 million. 😆
Do u have delivery outside of the usa lol great video and channel thumbs up
Don't forget Burger King and Wendy's have surveys on the back of their receipts, too. Do the survey and Wendy's turns into a B1G1 Free coupon and BK turns into a buy ANY item and get a free sandwich coupon.

The problem with ordering Ice Cream at McDonalds is their machines are Always Broken!
evry dadgum time!
Went today, broken machine again!
It’s never actually “broken” but Taylor screws them over with their systems unfortunately. There’s a 30 min video on it
Same with BK. Always broken
Not the one I go to we actually asked the manager on video and she said its always working
Long before vcr's, we would buy a cheap pizza and dress it up at home with mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese and so forth. We would watch the weekend movie while enjoying sharing a 2 liter bottle of soda, home made popcorn and so on. We still miss those days.
9:42 where DQ has a leg up on McD's is with the _availability_ of ice cream - so many times, the ice cream machines at (multiple) McDonald's are broken... maybe more often than not
DQ prices are very high.
When I worked at KFC, I always tried to give people the best deal I could, unless you were rude. So, be nice to the fast food employees and you can save some money.
At our local KFC, it's one of the staff, that is very rude.
I try to do that.
At Starbucks, you can get a venti water for free. Considering their water is filtered, it would be the equivalent of a 26 ounce bottle of water for free.
The Starbucks in my area are now charging for water, any size.
@@clombard7134 That sucks!!! Do you know how much?
@@gippywhite Knowing Starbucks, probably $10.
@@JohnnyD69FG 🤣🤣🤣 Accurate.
Such a waste of cups!
Order a double stack at Wendy's and add tomato lettuce to it and you essentially have a Wendy's single for half the cost.
Another McDonalds hack is if you have someone in your group who wants Sausage Biscuit and you want a Pancake breakfast.. You buy the "Big Breakfast Meal" with Hot cakes.
You can then take the sausage patty you were given and put it between the biscuit you got with the meal and ta-da!! You have a Sausage biscuit sandwich for the one person and you get to have the pancakes! Even if they wanted a Sausage EGG biscuit, there's egg they can put on top too! :) Used this hack while at a convention and I didn't have enough money for me plus my friend to eat two different meals at the end of it.
My favorite hack is at Wendy’s you can make any single items into a combo. I always order a 6 piece nugget and make it a large combo and it’s less than $5 while the 10 piece same meal is usually$7-$8.
I like how you eat from your trunk, in a parking lot, on a sidewalk, on a lightpost. Haha
Don’t forget the floor car mat
Got nervous with the one-handed double-blizzard flip, but perfect execution!
Lots of practice!! Lol
I keep telling my family that it would be awesome if there was a restaurant that served McDonald's fries, Burger King's burgers, and Dairy Queen's ice cream, we'd definitely go there FREQUENTLY! Oh, man.... I can smell it now! Yum!
I love BK burgers. That smell is making me hungry now.
Hah, one of my friends and I used to go grab red beans and rice at Popeyes, honey butter biscuits at Church's, and then original recipe fried chicken at KFC back when Popeyes had the best sides, Church's the best biscuits, and KFC the best chicken 20 years ago. Now Popeye's is best in all three categories and I just go there now.
@@homerthompson416 yes Church’s biscuits were so good years ago
@@smileyface985 And so crappy now sadly, god I loved Church's everything 35 years ago
You chose the worse combination possible
The thought of giving a fast food employee from Southern Colorado instructions of any kind sends chills down my spine.
And, if you are a senior, always ask for a senior discount (even if offered by a chain - such as Wendy's - not all locations do this).
I always forget to ask!!!
Burger King does not let you use their app at their stores
We have a friend who does this mostly because he wants someone to say he doesn't look old enough. LOL
@@MichaelTheophilus906 let's pray the government does the right thing.
McDonald's coffee senior discount...49 cent.
Also, at Culver's, it's cheaper to order the classic burgers with toppings and a family fry which is just over $5, as opposed to ordering separate meals. Everyone gets a burger, and you get a huge box of french fries! You don't get drinks, but you do get the same food for a much lower price. As I tell my family, "We have drinks at home."
Here's a hack we need. Some pizza places leave 2 inches or more of plain dough at the edge while other pizza places cover the entire pizza with the toppings. So, sometimes you might be buying a 12" pizza but you're really only getting a 8" inch one (2 plain inches off both edges as you measure across the pizza).
Now I want a caramel sundae 🍨
Don’t eat fast food. There I saved you a ton of $$
Was thinking the same thing EXCEPT for the ice cream….he has me there LOL.
Our local library used to have bookmarks the kids filled out with books they read, when they hit 10 (I think) they got a free kids meal at Applebee’s. I grabbed them for my son, niece, nephew and my sons 2 best friends who lived next door. It was a great way to get them to read over the summer. We’d take weekly trips to the library to let them play computer games but they had to at least check out and read one book, then I took them all out for a big dinner to end summer the night before school started. It was such a fun way to celebrate, they were in 4th grade I believe, it’s been so long. He’s now going into 8th grade but I loved finding little ways to encourage reading and let them feel proud of their accomplishments. And it didn’t hurt that I was able to afford taking 5 kids out to dinner on my single mom budget lol. They even got dessert included I think!
I was happy to fill my card with stars back then.
If they'd had that when I was a kid I could have taken all 7 of us out to eat. I rode my bicycle with the 2 big baskets on the back and checked out 5 books a week. I read so many kid's books that I ran out and the librarian had to choose books for me to read from the adult section.
We love Chick-Fil-A. The food and drinks are always delicious. And the Staff always have a smile and kind word.
And the most expensive chicken there is
Check out Chick fil a ingediants list for their chick breast grilled and fried. Not a one list of Chicken or two chick and flour salt pepper, the chick has a lot of imgrediants in it.
Take that 1 dollar you save and put it in a jar. Every time you save a dollar it will add up. It would be better if you pay in cash so you can do this. Also included your change.
Rewards programs earn more freebies and cash isn't always better. For example, Starbucks rewards earn more points if you pay with a loaded SB card on their app; buy discount cards and load them to the app. Earn bonus stars by buying/participating in promotions. Don't spend your points on anything small, save for the 400 points and get a freebie worth up to $20 in a store. Get a new mug, travel mug, reusable cups, ground coffee... whatever. I've gotten a free mug & Bodem cold brew maker so far. So while their coffee is expensive, compared to a $2 soda drink at a fast food place, I'd rather have have a crafted beverage & earn freebies too. You can also use a debit card to reload your SB card in the app.
Great idea!
I put anything $5 or smaller in an envelope. Fun money! :D
Then go buy gold and silver.
woman omg yes! I just did that today 😂😜
Sonic half price drinks with their app are a lifesaver.
Good tip Corey!
Sonics is yummy! My fiance and I went there one nite and got cheeseburgers. We each got a text for a free small shake ( when you sign up with your email, you get good half price deals and coupons sent in texts) but, on a funny note, after we finished our burgers, we decided to get the 2 small shakes and take them home. My fiance reached out of the car window to push the button and proceeded to order our shakes, he told the girl he had 2 coupons for 2 free shakes, her reply?
"The shakes are half price tonight". He looked at me with the most bewildered look on his face, and repeated that he had 2 coupons for 2 free shakes, she again said, " ok, but they are half price tonight". He looked at me as if he was shocked beyond belief, at this point, I was laughing so hard, I thought I would wet myself. 😆 lol!
So, he turned towards the speaker and asked, " ok, then, how much is half of zero"? Lol! The look on that girls face was a Kodak moment! I don't know if she even ever got the fact that we had free coupons! Lol! Another girl took over, shook her head at the first girl, and brought out our shakes! Lol! A date to remember! Lol! 😂
Yes!! I use the Sonic app all the time!! 1/2 price drinks all the time..can't beat it!!
I get a half price Rt 44 fruit slush and a $1 ice cream cone. I turn the cone upside down in the slush for a cram slush much cheaper than ordering one because they are not on the half price menu.
Here in small town Texas we use the app always for drinks, especially during the summer!
Culverts burger has and automatic up charge most don’t know about! If you order the deluxe combo or any combo, you be automatically charged for a larger drink and larger fries! If you order any combo and are eating inside! Order the combo, but tell them you want the small combo! It will be the same burger or chicken size, but the drink will be small and few less fries! Dining in the refills are free, the amount of fries is not much different and the price drops alot!
I don’t really eat fast food but when I do, I never order the pricey samaches, I always go for the dollar menu- if there is a dollar menu.
Buy your vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and unsalted peanuts, make your own peanut buster parfait for the whole family
Mooya burgers are the best. There Sweet potato fries are orrery awesome!
@speakeasy2982,
What brand ice cream is most like McDonalds’ soft serve vanilla?
@bonnielee7134 LOL, when have you ever had McDonalds soft serve; the machine is always down.
Seriously, you don't have to use soft serve, works just as good and taste good. However,Walmart is said to carry a good 'softserve' not sure of the brand, it's in a OVAL container with maybe a light blue lid.
@ speakeasy2982,
Ok, cool, thanks! Probably the Bunny one. Blue Bunny, I think. They’ve got some 16 oz swirl ones but they are mixed with other flavors.
If you have an ice-cream maker, it starts out as soft serve before you freeze it
For me, Aldi has the best & biggest take n bake pizza, hands down. $4.99 for a cheese, usually .49 extra for a topping such as pepperoni
I love Aldi!! Such great finds and good prices
Little ceasers
Even their frozen pizzas are good and affordable! IMO!
So true! And very tasty.
@@USA____ talking about take and bake, dude.
Arby's has crinkle cut fries for 1.25 and they are great !
Why are you getting those when you could be getting their amazing CURLY FRIES? I live for those:)
Mr. Deal Guy: I have to eat Gluten Free so many times I bring my own gluten free bun with me. By bringing my own GF bun I have a wider choice of places to eat at. Most of the time the managers are nice about my bringing another food product in when I explain the problem. Not everyone who is gluten intolerant like I am can do this, but I thought I'd mention this in case it helps someone.
Peanut buster parfait has been my favorite for almost 50 years. Thanks for the hack!
My fav for 40 years!
@@angelaharris1112 the best!!
Mine too. 😋
For the peanut buster parfait. Just get a Buster Bar (It’s actually not listed on many DQ menus I’ve been at but they usually have them). It’s basically a Peanut Buster Parfait on a stick coated in chocolate. And it costs about half the price. :D
I loved those when they used to make them by hand
I used to make them by hand. They were way better then.
Culver’s has fantastic burgers.
We order the Kids menu -
Burger, fries, drink and ice cream for $6 ish
Culvers also has great fish too!!!!
I just love your “frugal “ life style. I’m 61 and was a single Mom, my daughter is now 27 so I wish you were around when I was raising her, because I love the way you find stuff to celebrate and encourage you daughters achievements.........kudo to you!!!!😎👍🏼

If that were true fast food would not be in your world.
@@christinedehn3257 Fast food in my world?
I love Starbucks and so does my dog. He is very smart and knows when we are waiting in the drive through. He is a spoiled rotten chihuahua who loves his pupachino’s at Starbucks.
Sometimes they'll give you a trial size smoothie with whipped cream free for dogs. That's how my dog got hooked as a puppy.
Yep, and thanks to this video they'll stop doing this nice thing for your (everyone's) dog.
Mine too.
My Cairn terrier, Smudge LOVES the puppachino's too. I love seeing him so happy with his special treat.
Thanks for the DQ hacks Matt. The Blizzard hack would be great for small kids. Buy the biggest size for yourself. Take the other one and divvy it up between however many little ones you have. Don’t have enough? Scoop some out of yours and add where needed. If anyone has a latte hack from Starbucks I’d love to hear about it!
You should try Trader Joe's caramel with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Its found on the shelves above the frozen food... WAY better than McD's caramel sundae!
El Pollo Loco has a 4 piece of chicken for $4.99 and an 8 piece of chicken for 12. Just buy 2-four piece and save a couple dollars.
Bingo
Thanks! Love them!!
They don't seem to understand how bulk deals work.
@just the random middle age woman Florida had them in the 80's but they left. When my wife and I are in Dallas we go to one.
The BK French toast is like this
At McDonald’s I usually get the 6 piece nugget happy meal with a small drink, kids fry, apple slices, and a toy (which I give to one of my nieces/nephews) all for $3.99. It’s the perfect amount of food for me
Use the app and your points will let you get it for free at some point.
Its really the perfect size for everyone 😊
Whenever Starbucks has a BOGO. Get 2 trenta cold brews no ice. Then you have 90oz of cold brew and just put it in a pitcher in your refrigerator.
Thank you for sharing these great fast food secrets! I frequent these restaurants and will be taking your suggestions with me. I absolutely love your videos and can’t wait for the next one 💙
In my opinion Burger King has the best deals on their app!!
Yep they do 3 dollar deal burger 10 nuggets onions rings/fries with a drink
It may not be the best tasting food out of all the fast food joints, but by far the very best deals! Until just recently on "Whopper Wednesday's" you could score a $1 Whopper, $2 DW, or a $3 TW, now that's a great deal no matter your appetite. 👏🥰
Too bad BK food is so low quality.
@@Spydiggity and the service
@@Spydiggity its low quality? Lower than Who? What?
Can I Google a comparison?
You are always delightful And helpful!
Thanks Marie :)
Agreed, always delightful!
Great deals to save money while eating on- the- go! Thanks again Matt!
At my grocery store, Kroger, there is a brand of Tempura style chicken nuggets sold in bags in the frozen food section. They are essentially McNuggets for a cheaper price and the convenience.
Wendy’s: order a double stack add Mayo, tomato, and lettuce. You get the same size sandwich as a single.
But the bun and patty is smaller ☹️
Thanks Matt,
U enjoy watching your Fast Food video. I learned a lot and I love saving money anyway I can. Blessings to you and your family.
In n Out burger meals are the greatest.
Love the chocolate shakes.
We don't have In n Out burger here!
We tried their burger and found it to be very bland.
Whataburger Bbq Bacon Burger....it is Huge...two patties...bacon...sweet sauce...Also..you can change the drink to a medium shake for the same price!
Love the McDonald’s Caramel Sundae. Thanks for the tip!
Me TOOOOOOO!
Wish they'd bring back the nut packs! When they nuked the caramel, they also killed the nut toppings. How can u have a Sundae without nuts?? Besides, the protein offsets the sugar. 😏😏😏
McDonald's said that the "Toffee" (Caramel) & "Strawberry Sundaes" were removed from the menu because "they weren't very popular."
BUT, further stated, "The Government recommendations regarding sugar consumption also played a part in the removal."
It's like, "Are you fricking kidding me??!!" These guys are pushing drinks with TONS of sugars-- like all their "coffee" drinks. The Caramel Macchiato has 56 grams of sugar; Caramel Frappe (67g); Mocha Frappe (66g), Hot Chocolate (58g); and the Caramel Mocha comes in at 49g. Oh, and what about all the sugar in that "Super-sized" Coca Cola???
And don't forget, they usually only list the nutritional info for the SMALLEST size. But the Sundaes were SO unhealthy they pull them from the menu?? Riiggghhhtttt....
The caramel apple sundae is really good ..
As always the Deal Guy comes through and saves us money again. Appreciate you man! Your wife is very lucky . Thank you for sharing
I have to share the burgers at Wendy's are the best for me! I had RNY Gastric Bypass on April 6th and there are many burgers I can taste their poor quality and are loaded with gristle. I also absolutely love their chili! I now have a meal to turn when nothing else works! I just needed to brag on the restaurant! Thanks for showing me how to get more for $1 more! You are amazing!!
If you worked there you would know to NEVER eat their chili.😢
I always get peanut buster parfait at DQ, will use your suggestion now, with the hot fudge sundae with peanuts!
But sometimes they break in half when you only have a bit left. Get extra napkins
Caramel sundae was always my favorite topped with the peanuts
Hi Matt - Another very informative and fun video. I'm not much into fast food, but I will keep your tips in mind for road trips. My idea of fast food is "Culver's" and their fried fish. (I don't get out much) Thanks for sharing and continued success. Love PegEgg
Fun fact: If you ever find yourself ordering 2 small drinks, just buy 1 of that drink in the largest size it comes and ask for an empty cup on the side!! I'm always telling customers that at the place I work, and it cuts the cost so much!
You’re funny and informative!! Thanks for all the great updated info, your hard work is appreciated 🙌🏻😁
Great information in this one! I wondered if you could do a video on fast food deals based on ingredients. My service dog and I always stopped for Burger King breakfast on grooming day (4hr drive to his groomer.) A few months ago, we got our usual ham, egg, and cheese croissants, but they had a thick textured slice of ham instead of the usual deli-style thin slices. My dog wouldn't touch it; he didn't even recognize it as food. We go to McDonald's now for the English muffins. Last Veteran's Day, we got a hamburger from Red Robin or Chili's (I can't remember now.) It looked like hamburger, but it was squishy like colored foam. He wouldn't eat that, either. I did some research and found out about lab-grown meat and "upcycled" food (trash) and that consumers aren't told what they're eating. I use my dog's nose to tell the difference and make a list of places that still offer real food. Yes, he is awesome!
My food loving beagle refused to eat MacDonald's burgers. He would turn up his nose.
Super love that💘
So glad I stopped eating meat!!
I always tell my son watch the animals and do what they do. If they sun themselves or stretch, if they won’t eat something don’t eat it ect. If they hide or run you better run to because something is coming, that’s why horses act crazy before earthquakes they can sense it.
@@juliebolduc802 I only eat organically raised grass-fed and finished. But I'm glad I quit eating fast food a very long time ago. I've had it maybe four times in the past ten years.
I like Wendy's burgers.
Take the cash...you don't want to live in Austin. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
haha agree on both.
I'd like to live in Austin, but I'd still take the cash!
Probably why they have to give the house away!
Agreed! It’s a mad house here
I am
“Thats the way to do it!” LOL!! Love it!
Thanks for the tips. Don’t eat at many fast food restaurants, but always want to say a buck to spend on something I deem more valuable. My tip is, I like Big Macs just not the extra bread and lettuce, so I order a McDouble with no catsup, onions or mustard and add Mac sauce. I end up with 2 patties, pickles , Mac sauce and cheese for about $2.25 not $4.99.
My hack for gift cards is to buy them at Krogers when they are doing either 2 time or 4 times the fuel points so I get the cards I need and also save on gas.
A Starbucks gift card hack is to have a Target debit or Target credit card. With either of those cards you can get 5% off of gift cards. So a $25 gift card at Target will cost you $23.75 and the gift card itself it still worth $25.
I do that at a local grocery store near me also... they do 10x rewards pts
Do you get charged tax when buying the card, and then again when buying the food?
@@friedenhiker1032. No, you don't get charged tax on a gift card. Only when you redeem it. You aren't paying tax twice for essentially the same money.
We buy our gift cards at Kroger, too. We also use the gift cards if we know we're going to need to purchase a large item from Home Depot or Lowes. The extra gas points really make a difference.
Will you please find deals for Popeye’s? Thanks!!!
They have an app with weekly coupons 😊
A deal at Popeye's would be getting your order correct and timely. I've never been abused so much by a restaurant. I love the food but my husband refuses the aggravation
POPEYE'S best deal is doing their survey on the back of the receipt. Get a 2pc chicken & biscuit w/purchase large drink. $2.49 @ my store for all that👍
@@jodijean8653 wah wah, did survey and lost my receipt.
I saw one you did about McDonald’s burgers, I took your advice. I order a double cheeseburger with only diced onion, Mac sauce and shredded lettuce to have a small BIG MAC. It’s still a little too much for me with a small fry but I certainly enjoy it! I’ve also had it with lettuce, tomato and Mayo for a small “deluxe” burger.
I love your videos! Can you PLEASE do a few for us Canadian viewers...I find your tips are always so wonderful! Ty
Culver's butter burgers are the best. Technically, Kopps has the best, but that's a Milwaukee-only chain.
Always surprised that Carl never took it any further! Always thought he would franchise!
I used to eat at Culver's a couple times a week when I lived in Austin. They had 2 for 1 coupons butter burgers (which are HUGE....and FREAKING DELISH!). Dang, I miss them😭😭😭 #fingCovid
Freddy’s is really good
Solly’s tops them both in Milwaukee
There's a Culvers in Texas! Tastes pretty good imo
We've always done the DQ's Hot Fudge Sunday with peanuts for the kids and us grown ups did the traditional Peanut Buster Parfitt all the time. We called it the Mommy and Me or the Daddy and Me sets. They loved it and never though they were getting short changed out of anything. As they got older the kids sizes just got bigger and they were excited to order the larger sundaes as well.
I found peanut butter parfait minus peanuts was cheaper than what they charged for hot fudge per layer
I like ice cream sundaes!
I haven't had a sundae from McDonald's in probably over a year. As someone mentioned in the comments, the response is usually "the machine is broken" or it's after a certain time for them to clean the machine.
Touching on the no caramel sundae being offered on the menu, I went to my Mc D's app and in my area (just outside of Chicago), it's still being offered. However, the strawberry sundae isn't...on the app menu, that is. Another side note, they got rid of the individually wrapped peanut bits to top sundaes over a year ago. There isn't a Dairy Queen close to where I live, so we rely on local soft serve shops and the likes of Culvers and Sonic for "fast food" soft serve/custard.
Wow you must have read my mind. I was just wondering if McDonald's still used the peanut packets. Thanks for the answer. I haven't been to McDonald's in years.
The coffee/latte from Starbucks is the same as the same from Costco, that is about $3 less.
My favorite fast food burger is probably Burger King. The "charbroiled" taste and smell is very unique and I love it!
That is artificially added.
Not! The Burgers are run through a Broiler Flame grill for that Charbroil flavor! All the other Burger joints use a flat grill!
You can taste the difference! Burger King has the best Burgers over McDs or Wendy's!
When you ordering any iced latte order a Grande with extra ice and extra whip cream and tell them to put it in a Venti cup. It doesn’t cost any extra.
I like Five Guys and the lots of topping choices they have. Beside the free peanuts you can eat while waiting for your burger.
At Starbucks (*$$), if you like an iced latte, this hack is for you...
Iced latte recipe is ice, milk, and 2 shots of espresso.
For about half the price, order a doppio (double shot of espresso), a (free) cup of ice, and top it off with the (free) milk in the store
I don't eat fast food anymore but it's Matt the deal guy, so I had to watch! 😉
I'm with you. I don't eat it anymore, either. But watched this video anyway.
I love the gift card idea. Thanks for always sharing great offers with us.

WHAT-A-BURGER is without a doubt the best burger sold 😋😋 And since dogs can not eat regular whipped cream, Star Bucks uses genuine Coconut cream for the pupachino.

Good tips, I rarely eat fast food but when I do, it's good to save $!

"two separate receipts"... for the win!
Yeah, I've used that hack. Between the survey on the receipt, and their loyalty program, I usually feed a family for four at the cost of the family of three.
Happy Memorial Day Matt. I love your presentation and energy

When I’m strict carnivore, it’s In n Out for me.
Yes, indeed!!
Keto the new vegetarian. Have to announce it at every given chance.
Can I say I’m keto since I don’t like most vegetables lol
I also like how you can get a Lettuce wrapped burger at Five Guys or a burger dressed as a salad at BK.
When I was a kid and hanging out with all of my cousins, my uncle would go to fast food places, order us food, but for the drink he would order 2 large sodas and a bunch of "courtesy cups" as they were called which were basically condiment cups and then pour us all drinks in those from the 2 larges. It saved a boatload in drink costs.
That's so cool about the gift cards! I never even thought to look at them!
Our high property taxes here in Austin will hardly make it worth winning that home for anyone. It's a beautiful house though.
Guess it’d be good time to sell it
Take the cash.
Nice house for a 100% disabled vet, exempt from property tax. Otherwise, by my calculation you would have a $30,000 a year property tax bill ($7000 from the city and $21000 from the state) on top of the income taxes the Feds would collect on the value of the winnings.

Thank you Mr Deal Guy. You are my favorite, you always have the most amazing information and tips for the buyers. Thank you and God bless you 😊. My favorite is Wendy's.
I can’t afford to eat out very often. Thank you for sharing. It truly is a treat to go out and eat sometimes. I get snap benefits and recently discovered that Papa Murphy’s accepts EBT. It was very good pizza! I was very surprised and delighted. I plan to take advantage of the special on Tuesday.
As a Californian, I laugh at your burger suggestions.
In-n-Out will always be #1 for fast food burgers. Even Gordon Ramsey agrees.
If only in-n-out would expand then it would be the #1 burger. But since he has to talk about nationwide it makes sense he doesn't mention them.
That's funny! California, lol, I thought Texas was the New California?!
In-n-out is the best tho
@@marioStortuga Yes, I am well aware. 🤣🤣 I was just making a lame funny.

Totally agree! Their fries suck, but the burgers are the best!
Hey Matt, I’m a soon to be college student so I would like to please recommend if you could make a video on best deals for college students or how to save money on moving to dorms. Thank you and have a great day! I enjoy your videos and they’re really helpful :)
My advice is don't buy every textbook they list for a class and you will save hundreds of dollars that way. You can borrow or photocopy the pages you actually need at the school library. Some of the books that were on my lists for college the teachers never mentioned or never cracked open even once all semester. Almost like someone had a conspiracy scam going to try to make more money off of excess books sales or something. Lol. Unless your school requires you to buy a specific school meal plan I wouldn't buy that either. For example I knew good and well I was not going to get up early (if I didn't have to) to go eat breakfast every day I also scheduled my classes late in the day, again, knowing that I wasn't a morning person. And really think about it. If you have a school meal plan you might eat more or less than what is allowed monetarily for that meal. Say the meal allotment is $10 and you only feel like eating or drinking a small snack and a drink worth $5. So you lose that other $5 completely. Or if you're extra hungry and want $15 worth of food and you're only allotted $10, you better have the other $5 to pay for it.
Also, have your own stuff. Don't depend on your roommate to bring things. And no there really isn't a such thing as "We're going to evenly divide everything." One of you is going to use more soap, toilet paper, paper towels, eat or drink more of something than the other. Also roommates sometimes just up and move out randomly so if you were depending on the (insert shared item here) that they brought, you're up the creek without a paddle so to speak. I had the good fortune some semesters to be able to live alone and I wish I had lived alone the entire time I was in college. Good luck if you actually read this. Lol.
Get yourself an ISIC card right now.
Buy used/online books number one saver, ramen noodles and use food apps
EBT
ALOT of your text books can be found online in pdf version. Just google them asking for pdf, my son went thru and found most of his (just graduated this past year) My daughter currently uses this hack!!
Another one is to use every food dollar you have for every week on campus at the regular cafeteria, not the little chic fil a's, even if you aren't hungry, grab to go items (breakfast bars, fruit, pop tarts, whatever) store them in your room for those late night snacks or those mornings you wake up late! Make sure you have your own fridge and shop!! No fast food. If you go to restaurant, buy regular size meal, not the smaller version to save money, take leftovers for the next day or that night's meal.
Thank you! Great info.
I make my own peanut buster parfaits at home. Just Vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and red skin peanuts.
