- How To Rekey a 6 pin Kwikset Titan Lock Knob, Has No Detent To Remove. No Screws for lock, How to remove Lockset from door. Need keys or to pick lock to remove cylinder by releasing the retainer clip. This needs to be depressed into cylinder to allow you to re key the lock.

As a locksmith in the field as well I watched this video because I wasn't sure how to get the cylinder removed. So I picked it and got it out. But aslo some advice youight not have heard these kwikset cylinders are so much easier to rekey if you take the bible cap off and just reload the pins from the top. Saves a lot of time. Thanks for the info saved my ass on this job

Thanks for showing us how to deal with the Titan cylinder! I picked up a Titan knob surplus, but did not know about the detente and, after picking the lock, accidentally got the cylinder housing to drop out after rotating the cylinder. Then, once I removed the clip, I started pushing the cylinder out with the follower, but it was rotated 180 degrees and as you push out the cylinder, the detente catches on the pin holes as you pull it out :-) Something to watch out for!

allen screw on thumb turn. Then thumb turn comes off, then cover plate comes off, then you see screws.
Didn't see how that detent works though
Dammit, my knob lock is different, I guess this video won't help me at all. My knob lock core seems like it may need to come out the back or maybe the knob needs to separate in the middle. There is a hole between the knob and the faceplate. I suspect there's a unique tool that goes into that hole to separate the knob from the plate. Does anyone know what tool or method is needed for a lock like mine? Maybe even just the name of it so I can find a manual or demonstration for the doorknob lock I have.

I finally got it off with a pair of tweezers because a screw driver wont do the work if the door is locked. Thanks.
