OMG! Took me less than 5 minutes!!! Now I have 2 kwikset keypads that work again for a rental house. 👍🏼 this was a great video!
This video saved me $250 dollars in new locks. We had lost all of our keys (long story) and thought we would not be able to use the locks anymore. With this video I was able to re-key the existing locks to a new key and am now up and running again. Awesome job explaining the clips.
Tell us your long story we want to hear how loosing key could be a long story
@@hambat226 No, no we don’t want the long story.
This video saved me $80. I called a locksmith to see how much it would cost to rekey the lock if I brought the door knob to him and he quoted me $80. Thank you so much for the video.
Thank you so much.
Nice! Bought the locks and keys didnt work. Saw this video and fixed the problem.
Thank You!
Thanks Mr! I have had a lock going out into the garage that is bugged me for years and now I have a keyed correctly thanks to you
Glad to help
Very slick. Mostly liked seeing the inside of the smart cylinder.
Thanks man, this video saved me a trip back to Lowe's.
Thankyou for gidin me sir, godbless 😃
Very very nice. Enviable what some folks can do. I Lack that kind of Skill/talent so I found it cheaper to just buy a set for $20. I have a Front door a back door and garage door, I really don't mind having 3 different keys. Some folks like having 1 key for all 3-4 doors. To each their own.
1:33 is a little confusing. I almost gave up, but figured it out. On the screw holder sides, there are two tabs you push down on towards the middle of the hole. You can see the one on the shank side if you flash a light down there. The other side with the metal shield to pull back requires a little more effort. A tiny allen key helped me a lot to see when I pushed down on the tab on the long shank side. You will know when it pushes inward to the hole.
This comment here was a huge help. After watching the video I got stuck at this point also and almost gave up myself. Luckily I did decided to read the comments to see if anyone else got stuck like I did. Allen wrench didn’t work for me but the two little screwdrivers did. You will definitely know when you’ve got your screwdriver behind the tabs. If it doesn’t feel like much, you didn’t get it.
Thanks for the video. Well explained. It helps me a lot.
Thank you for this video!
Nice!! You got some skills man!!
Very good video.. I'm hoping you have a video on a Kwikset that has a solid aluminum barrel sleeve over the pins?
After removing the black c-clip (2.51) the lock would not slide out. I had to also remove the chrome c-clip. It all went back together fine. Thank you.
I think someone had tried this before and couldn’t get it aligned and had returned it to Amazon.
Of all the videos I looked at for this project YOURS WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!
thank you for taking your time explaining. The other videos everyone seemed like it was a race they were in. Hardly any instruction at all. I'm not a locksmith or a handyman. I am a lady that does everything I possibly can on my own before asking for help or paying a pro.
Thank you again! I'll subscribe to your channel for future projects. 🕊💕🙏🕯
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 😄😄😄😄
If you are careful realigning the bars and don't let any of the parts fall out, it works every time. It's a little disconcerting that the parts are so small, and it's no wonder that these locks can be forced open fairly easily (which of course will damage the lock).
Very nice video.
Thanks. Some of these lock sets are not keyed to the lock kit they come in. I had to relock and key 6 exterior locksets in one house and one kit had the wrong keys for the entire kit.
Great video
Your video is so easy to undersrtand.
However I tried mine as your video.
I successfully removed C - clip, but lock does not slide out the cylinder.
I tryied look other video, but no similar situation was found.
Damn, I will just buy another lock😂😂😂😂😂😂
I can't move my middle bar, is there a secret?
no pins ? no set of different length pins ? interesting
That first spring.. can’t figure that part out
My key won't come out after I reset the pins. Anyone else have this issue? I can rekey it with the normal kwikset tool and the key comes so it is not jammed in the lock. It wont release when in 12oclock setting.
1:32, make sure its perpendicular to the part that you took out and do the opposite way of this.
Better imo.
At 2:53, I had to insert a key (any) so that it would actually come out.
Nice…nice…nice
I am having problems finding the spring at 0:57. Maybe I have a different model kwikset lock,
After watching a different video, I finally got it. I think that ruclips.net/video/BFgdx5SDdC8/видео.html provides better detail on that step
I was also having problems on this too. My fix was that I had to manually pull out that black piece since it didn't fall out like the video
I can use a Lishi to decode coreect?
It's wouldn't be easy while it's still in the handle. Once you remove it you can use those pins on the side as visual indicators. Of course if you have a lot, kwikset smartkey cradle is like 35 dollars and will reset them without the key.
Once you get the lock cylinder out of the handle, you can use a cradle for it if you have a lot of them to do. Much faster than trying to manually rekey them. The cradle is like 35 dollars and will reset them much faster with less effort.
