This is a Must See Video For Anyone with a GoPro
The two helmets used in this video are Smith Vantage helmet. One is an older model the other is newer.
In this GoPro Mounting Tips And Tricks Video I show where you should mount your GoPro on your helmet. At the front or on the top. I explain why you should do one or the other to get the best shot for what you want to capture. - Хобби
Rear facing... record skiing with a rear facing camera, play it backwards and... Voila - you're skiing back up the hill!
Mark Kanzler lol ...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
When it's facing backwards, you can film friends and family by being in front of them. I love it!
Yep... Like if you're on a roller coaster. Perfect vantage point to catch the faces of the people behind you! Also useful if you're on a rowing team, where "backwards" is actually the direction you're going.
Yep, rollercoasters and boats... and hoes...
Kyle, your videos are amazing and very user friendly. You have really helped me make the most of my go pro camera
Thanks for the tips! I working on mounting one on a helmet today!
Thanks for making these videos. I'm about to order my first GoPro in a couple of hours. Explanations like this will help me very much!
One major con for top mount is that everytime you take the chair lift you have to tilted your head to avoid your gopro being knocked off by the top of lift rack
That is a really big complement thank you so much.
Thanks for the video, very helpful.
This was very helpful even after 4 years later. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for the help Kyle...great video!
Very informative. Thank you!
2:32 he started speaking with an Indian accent wtf haha
Hi, I'm looking for the best perspective for attaching to a fencing mask at the top, or at the side, do you have an idea?
you should show an example of the video perspective that each mount produces or whats the point of the video?
great share
You can get the go pro 3 plus on sale now on photocamz.com/newcameras
i know write its annoying!
The Motorsports Edition comes with a J-hook buckle. Or if you want to get on after you have bought your camera the fallowing accessories come with one: Chest Mount Harness, Helmet Front Mount, Grab Bag of Mounts. The Helmet Front Mount is the cheapest way to get one and it also come with some useful extender bars.
You can find all of these on the GoPro site
I'm doing to be doing some hard downhill skiing, and I was wondering if the clip mount (presuming that I fall), is going to keep the GoPro intact. Basically, if I fall head first, will the clip mount (with adhesive) ensure that the GoPro does not come off?
@OneMansSanctuary
Sweet glad to hear that you found them useful
You could have showed some footage of you skiing while whearing the mounts you showed on this video :)
thanks very much, didnt knew very much about gopros but know with your help i know much mote, thanks alot!!!!!
Great video. Doing snowboard in which position do you believe that the camera has much more field of view. On the top of the helmet or rear of the helmet? Thanks in advance!
Well done. Thank you.
Yes! Any kind of helmet you want and it can be used for almost any sport.
Nice Video thanks mate!
Sweet! Thanks for the advice would love to see some video when you get it edited.
Thank you for this video!!!!
Really helpful video.
Just bought a Gopro Hero 3 Black. The possibilities are really endless!
You have one more subscriber :)
thanks a lot for the tips!
really useful videos for a gopro noob like myself... so cheers.... would have been nice for an example video for each mount pos though to compare perspectives
What about the first mount with the two devices , then aimed forward from farther back - does that mitigate against the weight forward problem ?
thanks a lot it was so helpful
big help thanks man.
Thanks man. Really appreciate it. Great videos btw ;)
For skiing - if i want to get a good shot of my skis, and the horizon, (the features) but be able to put my goggles up, while i am skiing, (not recording) should i put the mount in between the top and front? Thanks.
Hey, great video. I was going to buy the front mount until I realized that I can do it with the things it came with. But I was just wondering, is there a way to get the self-portrait view with the flat mount?
thanks you really helped me out
You sure can. I have not tried it but I have seen it done it seems to work quite well.
Great video thanks :)
Thank you so much you helped
I use the r5 setting most of the time when shooting with the camera mounted on an helmet
@LeanderLFC
yes it is a good idea to put the sticky mount on 12-24h before use
Awesome, thanks for the sub. Good luck with your camera.
Could you show difference in footage between the flush front and top mounts? Thanks :)
The vibration stopper.. What do you connect it to? I have the gopro hero 3
I used a curved mount on the front of my helmet and let it sit for a decent amount of time, after taking two or three runs on a snowboard the adhesive failed and my go pro fell off. Is there a way to reuse the curved mount or do I need to buy another one?
with the front mount when you put the J Hook on the front and bent it down, you can reverse it have it facing backwards just the same as the top mount...
For the j and flat mount and the vibration use the shortest extender you get with the go pro and put it between the flat mount and the camera so you can get the nose plug thing on
Maybe stupid question but are you able to mount these on any helmet or does it have to be a special go-pro helmet?
@fallenbird1029 And the other is the 2012 Smith Vantage
Great vid you have one more subscriber
hey kyle, I am going to be using my gopro to snowboard a lot so i was wondering which mount to use on my helmet. i was thinking about putting it on the front of the helmet but then i realized the issue about the weight, and that would annoy me alot. so which mount would be best for me
i was wondering What you feel would be the best position to mount the gopro if i want a good clear forward facing view but not so you cant see my board or anything, preferably an angle where you have a good view forward along with a view of my board and hands?
@kylemartn101 what is better, front of helmet or side? I like the eye level view on both but I'm worried about the weight having it on the side. Is it noticeable and hard to ski in? Thanks
if i were to order the helmet mount on the go pro website does it come with 1 or 2 of those adhesive mounts things for it or do i need to order them?
Top mount is generally better in my opinion. However I do really like a side mount as it makes for good shots if you have a full face helmet. Kind of brings you into the shot if you are doing commentary
which mount do you recommend for paintballing?
Nice tips! Good to know about! :P Greetings from Germany! :P
Hey man just a quick question should i put some extra glue just to make sure it does not fall off and is there a certain time i must wait before using my go pro on the sticky?! Thx
I wanna use the gopro helmet mount for wakeboarding but im worried the adhesive will fall off with the water and the jumps. what do you think?
@FlufyDuky To be honest I have not tried the side mount yet. I have put one on and will be trying it out this weekend I can let you know how it works. The one thing that I do like about the side mount is that you get a bit of the helmet in the shot.
I keep my goggle strap over my helmet however I rarely put my goggle up I find if I do this they will start to fog up afterwards so I try no to make a habit of doing it. Because of this I have never had a issue with not being able to put my goggles up when the GoPro is mounted. If the GoPro is not on the mount it is possible to put them up.
Fantastic tips you have. I'm tryng to find one thing and i cant. Can you help me.... What program do you use to the helmet, the 4 or 5? Thank you very much.
EXCELENT.....
I have the hero 3 black edition so the weight isn't really there in the front. I was wondering if you have to put your goggle strap under your helmet, or if there is a way to take your goggles off your eyes, but leave it on your helmet? Thanks
what is the name of those hemets????
and what is the edition that comes with those mounts?
thanks for answer
do the vibrations from the j-buckle mount actually have effect on the video, or is it just annoying to have it vibrating on ur head?
Are you just using an adhesive mount on the helmet? Is it strong enough?
its a good tip, i use it all the time for my videos.
just wondering, do you think the adhesive mount would hold up skydiving?? Any help would be appreciated :)
It will stick but it will not be as strong as if you used the right one. The idea behind using the curved adhesive mount is that it puts more of the adhesive in contacted with the surfaces. When you use the flat one there is less of the adhesive in contact with the surfaces.
Nice!
Just installed one of those adhesive mounts on the side of my helmet (didn't fit properly on the top) but damn, that stuff is hardcore, when it's on..it's on..holy sh*t. A perfect fit isn't even needed with that much sticky power..well unless things get wet. Really impressed with it. Should have no problem recording footage tomorrow
Do you get the vibration stopper with the gopro naked kit too?
really informative videos! would you mind if I put this one or others by you on my rental website if needed?
I put my gopro backwards when im skiing to get shots of my friends when we are skiing it's a cool angle to see the snow shooting off the back of your skis and shots of your friends shredding behind you.
if you buy a gopro and sticky mount can you do this strate away
im bougt the gopro hero 3 white and im using it for snowbording, do i need to buy extra mount? if i do can you tell me wich one? thx i enjoied this vid :D
Do you have to Take on the sticky mount 12-24 h before going in action?
I dont remember
Hey will this work for a motorcycle haif helmet
what mount do you use to mount on a Laser Sailboat? Suction Cup or an actual mount?
What's the white gooey thing that comes with the mount? Should i keep it?
@ThaReaIFake
They are the 2011 and 2012 Smith Vantage. You can find the price online
@MAREKISBACKAGAIN I have heard this a few time now I am going to try it.
I don't find those helmets on gopro official site, nor at local stores... Where do I get those GoPro helmets, or are those just for demonstration purposes ?
today i tried my gopro hero 3 white edition, that i got for christmas, for the first time. i got the chest mount as the hero 3 doesnt come with as many mounting devices/ accessories, as previous gopro cameras.i wore the mount backwards for a couple of runs to film people cycling behind me, i guess this is why you would mount the gopro on your helmet backwards. hoping to post the edited footage during the week ahead. btw, cheers for the video, it really helped with my nose plug w/ j hook issue.
is the gopro 3 white edition better then the gopro 2 outdoor edition?
So I can use any kind of helmet for this? For example an old skate helmet?
that sticky mount can be reused?or can it only be placed in one place and stay thre forever?
Is the helmet sticky mount removable on applied to the helmet?
Would the sticky mounts hold for something like skydiving?
@fallenbird1029 It is a 2011 Smith Vantage
İs it possible to use the gopro without a quick release
how would you mount it for first-person view skateboarding?
sick vid! can u do on on how to update a hero 3 wifi settings??? i already suscribed and i really need this thx!!!!!!
thank you a lot :)
I would think they would. The mounts seem to stand up to some pretty big crashes while skiing and snowboarding
do the sticky padshold well?
does the vibration just cause nose interference or does it mess the video up to?
I have seen it it looks cool
Look in the videos description. They are both smith vantages
Your videos are great dude! I saw this the other day, and I´m wondering if you have something similar to it and could post it (in case you haven´t already) Its a GoPro 360 swivel mount for the helmet
