I’m so glad you put this video out. Just last week I rode down to Tampa and on my way back I set my phone up on my handle bars and was recording and live streaming some of my riding. This got me thinking about starting moto vlogging, if not for RUclips then for myself. Thanks for showing your set up!
Great content as always. Loved how you put all the links to everything.
Awesome . Thanks for the 2022 update 👍
Great video! Good to know that the older mic adapter works with the Hero 10. I really didn't want that whole media mod adaptor. Just starting to pick out all the parts for my new ATV vlog setup. This will help! Cheers!
just ordered a gopro 10 hero and saw this uploades, what a perfect timing. Can't thank you more for these infos
Excellent my friend, love that setup. I will be motoblogging soon on my first adventure ride. This for me is so simply , no high tech, and all you need is a good helmet location for a nice road capture, and an easy listening sound. Cool
Very in formative, clean and well spoken.
Nice. Very timely video. I want to get a GoPro and do vids for myself as well in the future. I was going to look up a ‘how to’ video about it, but you have saved me the time looking it up.
From one Moto vlogger to another, great video!
Glad you like the case for the adapter
Appreciate the video Block! Some good information and helpful
Love this 👏🏻 really helpful, thank you. Love the channel 👊🏻
Excellent video... Just what I was looking for
WOOT! Thank you for this vid!!!!
@ 19:48 I can't believe you run a tac reload and index your batteries!!! This is Gold thanks for the tip!!!
God bless man! Cheers for posting this!
Great info, thanks!
Awesome info! I’m just starting out doing motovlogs and this was really helpful! Thanks for uploading! 💪🏼👌😄
Thanks! Really helpful 😊
Dude I just started looking this up 2 days ago and your old video from years ago was one of the ones I watched 😂
I’m starting to film again and want to put out some motovlogs and I use pretty much the exact same setup on one of my helmets per one of your earlier vids about setup and it is a great setup. Thanks for doing vids like this it helps out people wanting to do better content. 👍🤙
Been looking for that Mic Adapter case forever!
Hey Blockhead. Awesome video and a great setup. Just a note from a professional Audio Engineer. It’s not great to “tap” the mic for your test. It can damage the capsule as it’s a mini condenser mic. Damaged capsules could lead to audio drops, crackling or distortion. Like you mentioned on the ride, rather scratch the mic as this won’t put pressure on the mic capsule. Much love all the way from South Africa🇿🇦
As a fellow audio/broadcast professional, I endorse this comment!!
Appreciate the heads up! Yeah I don't usually tap it like that, that was just for the demonstration of this video, usually I just lightly scratch over the surface of it before rides to test.
Thank you for this video.
Dude awesome video, I went ahead and got the same set up and love it. thank you, brother!
oh my god , a simple way , you solved my problem. thanks bro.
You solved my media mod vs adapter question. Thank you
thanks for your good explanation and your video was amazing
Great video as always. I'm still rocking the GoPro 4, but will be upgrading at some point. I never did the heat gun or vise grip thing and I've never had an issue with it coming loose.
Bro this helped me so much, thank you
great post production skillz
I just bought a Ruroc 3.0 and hopefully, my audio Issues on my moto vlogs goes away, thanks for this video man 👌👌
Great review and very informative 👍 big help to me dude, as a beginner motovlogger... thanks for your tips and advice... thank you so much...men..
awesome guide, thank you
Awesome vid.. very helpful.. I have a small channel in car scene but bout to start a second and do moto vlog.. got me so pumped
I tried using the ruroc mount and did exactly what you just said I was awesome for like maybe a month
Looking good Brother!!!
great video--- I heard almost zero wind noise. keep on riding and stay safe
Thank you for your help.
I always mount the gopro upside down. This helps me to turn it on/off with my left hand thumb without taking my right hand off the throttle. For me that's a lot easier.
Also the quick record issue in my experience can be resolved if you opt to never put the gopro to hibernate or standby.
Awesome video
Great video… deadly helmet choice
That was great! Thanks for the information. FYI, I found your channel through HerTwoWheels. Looking forward to more content.
Hey Block, can you talk about how you incorporate/wire up the communicator so that you're capturing the audio from it as well?
Great share Fam 🤙🏾🔥
great video
I've found the lav mic cable an absolute pain to squirrel away so I've actually made my own custom microphone specifically for motovlogging, even manufacturing the case to hold the mic capsule in the best direction to avoid wind and pick up voice. Will be doing a video on these soonish.
I've been looking to your video for a while now and this setup feel quieter than your previous atlas 3 setup
You gotta get some hex screws to clean those turn knobs up. Nice setup though. And purple panda was what I used to use as well. Nice mics.
Hi I liked your tutorial very good
Let's gooo! 🤙🏽
Thank you for making this video. I love that helmet! Bought a Shoei RF 1400 last weekend and still have yet to go for a ride with it. However.. looks like you got over 70mph with no windshield and I could still hear you great. Curious if that ruroc is better than the Shoei or not. I’ve been using the media mod with my GoPro and audio has been a royal pain in my ass. So, maybe this would work better. Thanks again!
My thing is hidden camera’s right now.
All my vehicles have them, so I’m beginning to work at doing my bikes.
Never know when an OathBreaker might need some attention.
I plan on adding something decent for videos, so thx for sharing.
I haven’t bought a GoPro, but I have a old ION that I like because I can watch & control it from my phone as I use the camera. I don’t even think anyone sells them in stores anymore, so GoPro is coming up.
I like my ION. At the time I bought it, I felt it was mucc better than the GoPro option.
I haven’t seen any ION in a store for years.
Great video Block! I see other comments....I too am wondering how you get the sena audio!??
very nice vidéo thanks from belgium
good information
Vice clamp 😮dude overkill
All the gear all the time!
Thank you
Great video and information here for newer content creators such as myself, thank you!!! Though I personally prefer the handle-bar mount POV to see what the bike is going thru(lean angle/whoops/etc), I guess most people prefer this helmet style POV to watch moto-vlogs from? Would help if I were more vocal too, heh!
Yes most viewers prefer helmet mount, chin position preferably. Side mount can be distracting, and top mount, can be acceptable for MX racing. So I was told...
Bar mount means you can’t record audio unless you have another device to do that, and then you need to dub it over that footage. Bar footage is great, but you have to mix it in with other footage.
Thank you both for the info, very helpful for future content!!!
That beard is majestic. My beard said it was happy to meet your beard.
Great video and set up man.
Lol great to meet you man 😆
Appreciate that info. Because I just set my helmet up and that GoPro media mod eats my battery up like the Cookie Monster lol 😂. I’m subscribed bro
That's pretty much my set up. The last month or so I have been having audio problems. Audio completely unintelligible when bike picks up speed. I think I figured it out. My Gopro Hero 7 Black lost Protunes. It was gone. I had to do a factory reset. Once Protunes was back I set audio to wind reduction. Everythig is back working great.
Check out the new enduro GoPro batteries for your camera. It lasts a lot longer then the standard stock one when recording at 4k or 5k 30/60fps. I just bought 2 of them.
shout out from cocoa beach🤙🤙, yoo lol rain is bout to be clockwork😂 🤦♂️
Hay man just a quick one I don't recall a simpon review I remember the undoing review I have one so I'd like your input like the video man as always high quality 👍
Cool looking helmet but wouldn't recommend, incredibly loud with wind noise, and the overall fitment of it always lead to some plastic rubbing plastic sound, even when sitting still and just turning my head.
I’d like to see your camera set up that you use right now when filming in the shop.
Thanks.
Great video! Love all the detail. Thanks for breaking it down. In some recent videos, I've noticed a 360 camera on your handlebars. Are you using the insta360?
GREAT! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My dream Helmet 🤤
I live in southeast Georgia just a few miles away from Florida, and I know you ain't lying, I can see them rain clouds @ 15:12 and it is the same thing here in Saint Marys Georgia, I got trust issues with the weather man 😂😂
Something i do want to point out. If you find your mic not working with the gopro mic adapter, make sure you are using a TRS mic, meaning it has 2 rings. Most vloggers dont mention this, just mention what mic you should use. If your mic has 3 rings, its a TRRS mic and you will wither need a TRRS to TRS adapter or a TRS mic. If your 3.5mm jack has 3 rings, you need to get a male to female adapter with 2 rings or buy a lavalier mic with 2 rings
YES, exactly.....no one mentions this! Luckily I'm a Guitar guy, so naturally I noticed all the Mic's for sale were showing TRRS.....and I'm looking at my GoPro thinking, yeah this is probably TRS.
GoPro remote may be good addition
GREAT VIDEO😋😋😋
nice one
Just sent my 4.0 commander back to exchange for a bigger size, hopefully it doesn’t take months for me to receive the replacement back, I love the helmet feels good fits great looks amazing
I ordered mine a week ago and have to wait till June for it
@@mmmmmmmmmmmmm51 geez, I ordered mine and it took like 2 weeks to get here, maybe it depends what color helmet you got and if they have it in stock?
I've just ordered a mic by turtle beachads for gaming headphones. Will be giving it a try when it arrives in a couple of days. It is about 5" long so might be a good alternative to all that long coil of wire.
Like a lot of people here, I would like to know how you set up your Sena with this too. I know you could splice cables and solder everything back together, but is there an easier way you’ve used to do this?
Well done. Thanks for these tips. Would you consider ND filters?
Thank you. I need the audio adapter mount.
To avoid the strain on your cpu while editing, you can still record in 4K, then make proxies of the footage which are smaller files you can edit with, then replace them with the 4K files for the export. That’s what production companies I’ve worked with do. Hope that helps in some way:)
Nerd alert
@@zoomorphic3317 My edit system Pinnacle Studio22 doe's the prox thing automatically bro..
Not to mention he records in 1080p and upscales it to 4k as if that was ever going to do anything except introduce artifacts.
@@tamas9402 4k is pointless cuz the human eye can't even resolve 1080p. Which is why to this day Hollywood movie studios also shoot their movies in 1080p then upscale the footage to 4k in post.
hi dude, great vid. thanks for that.
If you buy DaVinci resolve, it uses your graphics card to edit and render. It makes 4k no problem at all. It doesn't use you CPU at all. Just thought you might like to know.
Sweet
Gang gang 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Bruh. This literally came out when my stuff came in. That’s crazy.
thanks so matsh
I do use the media mod, I do use an external battery, I also use the usb port, running a 6 ft cable to the external battery, this does a couple things, It allows the gopro to stay cool, and I never run out of battery, the only downside is it's not a water proof setup.
Hi buddy 👋 we’re in the same dilemma: did you come up with something? We were thinking that we only need to cover the battery and the section with the connections for the media mod: why can’t we cover them in some sort of plastic wrap and just leave the lens uncovered?😅
True with the beard. I have no beard, so on my old MT-07 you could hear wind no matter what I tried. I haven't recorded anything on my Road Glide yet, maybe the full fairing will take out the wind noise for me.
Do you use a second giant squid mic for the audio from the Sena? And if so how do you get two mic inputs into the mic adapter?
Yup. 1080p material upscaled to 4K looks great on a 1080p monitor at 1440p haha.
Hey Blockhead,
I don't believe you addressed why don't you recommend the Hero 9 for a camera?
Appreciate all the videos you've done over the years. You were an inspiration into my joining the Harley fam. RSSV sir!
Also curious about the GP9.
Blockhead setting up,and pulling batteries like a fresh mag. Lol
The taped up port on the mic adapter... you could always charge with a charging cord and plug it in there
Yeah I mention not wanting to add any additional weight to the helmet, battery change is quick and easy, and one battery lasts awhile 👍🏼
It would be good if you mentioned how you record intercom voices :)
6:55 Have the same issue on my Hero 7 black, quick record = no mic. My Hero 5 Black works every time though. "Progress" LOL
Nothing worse than going to edit and realizing your main camera files have zero audio. :/
Also should note you want to make sure you mount the camera so your visor will easily open. Hindsight.
Blockhead, do you use a splitter and an additional mic next to your ear to capture other rider conversation?
if GoPro just makes one with the mic adapter built-in, it would make so much more sense! I hate having such bulky set up... sigh 😔
Hey man! Love your videos. I’m an iron rider myself. Why don’t you recommend the GoPro hero 9? Lmao that’s what I have. Been thinking of setting up my helmet, but don’t want to do it all if there’s a problem with the model I’m using haha.
Ok…. But how do you get your Sena audio into the recording…. I’ll sign the NDA I just wanna know 😂
