Guys, I have been using the hero 9 and 10 with out any issue. I'm wondering if it might be the SD cards you are using.
I only use Sandisk extreme pro and never had an sd card error.

I feel your pain and am also experiencing the same issues. Whilst I’m a motovlogger i’m also a professional TV Cameraman and have introduced the GoPro on to a few productions. We recently lost days worth of footage from two hero 10’s which were placed inside an aeroplane cockpit and a tractor cab over the space of a week. The production company have vowed never again to let a GoPro on set. It’s only a matter of time before GoPro get sued for their sub standard products.

I hope GoPro would start spending more time perfectioning their products instead of pumping out new versions every year. I also hope they really ditch that bullshit ecosystem that they try to force feed down your throat. I'd like to plug in my GoPro into my computer and just copy-paste the files off of it, instead of having to install their mediocre software and signing up and giving them all my info in order to get it off my product that I have purchased. I understand, use a card reader fixes that problem, but that adds unneccessary steps to my workflow.

Haven't had any of the issues mentioned so far.
The only one I have also had is the battery charging inconvenience, but my tankbag really facilitates sticking the whole charger in place so I've kinda solved this issue.
Truth is that if you don't want any fancy feature (5.3k, or >120 fps footage), then sticking to more simple action cams is the way to go, but for me the processing, colors and overall quality of the Hero10 is unparalleled, can't really ditch it.

Got a new hero 10 recently. Every time I press the recording button, the recording starts and the screen goes blank and stops recording in 2 minutes. Then I have to start recording it all over again, and after that the damn thing works just fine till the battery runs out like a ''forgot to turn off the water tank '' 😂😂. I'm new to Moto vlogging and lost the footages on my very first attempt last week. Now I know how to handle this thing. Just give it some 2 minutes initially to get warmed up by just click on the record button and wait 😂. After that 2 minutes dude Hero 10 is all set to go. The SD card error actually is a problem the sd card is faulty for. If your settings are too high, the sd card can not write the data as quick as it must in this situation. Hence, if you have high settings you need an sd card with higher writing speed.

In germany you'd say it's a monday model because of its bugs. I got the Gopro10 with me in june on a five-day-motorcycle-holiday at Lago di Como (Italy). The Gopro was attached to the handlebar and connected to an USB socket. There was only one issue on our way back home when it suddenly asked me to connect it to a power source. Ok, that was really annoying but I took over 25 hours of footage including Vlogging parts (battery) on sightseeing tours in different cities without any problems. Also no issues with stabilizing. I'm not a Gopro fanboy but really satisfied with this cam. I used no mods or cases.

I've used GoPro's for years and found out what causes and what fixes SD card errors. 1:
Stop using Sandisk cards. The amount of users having issues using these cards it mind blowing. Use Samsung Evo cards instead. 2: Realize that lockups and freezes are usually caused by SD card corruption. Formatting in the GoPro does NOT fix SD card corruption as the GoPro can only perform a "quick" format. Here's a video explaining SD card errors and how to fix it: ruclips.net/video/633S-6lagDI/видео.html

      @DemonViewLLC 2 года назад +1

@@joeninja1364 Yeah, it's interesting, if you read the support forums, the amount of people having issues with the GoPro Sandisk combination is just amazing. Nearly every single one of them have the same thing in common, Sandisk cards. After I showed people how to properly format their cars, I'd say about 85% of them didn't have any further issues. Those that did, I told them to switch to Samsung Evo cards and their issues went away completely. So not sure if it's a card speed issue, reliability issue or what. I only use Samsung cards in any of my GoPro's, have once had a data loss issue or a camera lockup.

I’ve been using the hero9 for the past year, no problem so far, except since 2 months my hero9 started freezing while recording like 1 time out of 20, and when it does that, all I can recover is the footage before the freeze.
It seems that it’s not only a hero10 problem
And speaking of the hero10 I’ve heard it does not handle the heat, and the battery dies real quick when it’s cold.

I just bought the 10 Hero few weeks ago and right on the first usage I experienced problems. Files were corrupted, changed SD card (from the one supplied with the kit), Gopro glitches, turn off by itself or reboot, freeze beyond recovery (had to pull the battery off and on), pink videos and so on... all within the first week of usage. Then seeing this video and reading the comments section hinted me that there was some who don't have issues, plus a friend of mine on Discord told he got it at the same place (Costco) and didn't encounter any issues. So I brought it back to Costco and replaced it. A week later? not a single glitch at all. So bottom line, I think Gopro has a serious QA problem in their division. It doesn't inspires me to know that my working Gopro could potentially degrade after some short or long term usage with the heating issues, but so far so good.

I have had similar issues with the GP8. My tips:
    * Record without a battery. Use a USB battery bank in your jacket pocket. Prevents shutdown due to overheating.
    * Format the SD card in the camera each time you transfer footage to your PC. This helps avoid SD card errors.
    * Learn what a VPN actually does and doesn't do to protect you. Websites can still know who you are via cookies and fingerprinting.

What people would need is a DETACHABLE camera module ..so you can put the brick in a pocket and mount the very slim camera lens module somerwhere on the helmet ..where nobody would even notice it! ... Bad SD cards in the both cases, try a modern new card, UHS II. They have about 10,000 write/erase cycles. The media mod causing overheating caused freeze, if you would have just held the power button in it would have shut down and upon restart it would have saved your footage. Taking the battery out was your mistake causing the loss of footage. So the only issue is the overheating issue which has been known about since hero 10's release.

Cannot for the life of me connect to preview on the phone so I can see what I'm filming - it connects about 1/10 times. Cannot upload media so I have to pull straight off the SD card. exactly the same issues I had and still have with gopro 9. which in fact is my first gopro, completely disappointed. crashes, freezes, I'm using the extreme pro sd card, which is even higher than their minimum recommended. No matter how much I would try to record in 4k 25fps (PAL), I would always have thse problems. Recently I switched to 2.7k 50fps (as the 25fps is only available with the max lens mod), and a lot of problems have disappeared, so the camera is more stable. But its frustrating as you say, that the hero 7 released years ago its more stable, and more capable recording 4k footage, than these newer cameras which are supposed to be better.

I record my rides with a gopro 10 for a few years now and it has never let me down, super nice quality and work. I heard from some people there was a production issue and some cameras came with issues. So maybe you got one of those. Some friends also use the 10 and no issues at all. But it is quite frustrating when it happens... I love them gopros but thinking on switching to the DJI Osmo soon, lets see.

I have less problems since I have lowered the resolution from 4k to 2.7k, which tells me that either the camera its not stable recording 4k, or maybe there is an SD card issue that's not capable of process the 4k footage fast enough. They recommend sandisk extreme, I have the extreme pro which is even fast. And I ahve tried another sandisk card, same issues.
I'll try this and see if it works. Curious if anyone else has tested this?

I don't know what to say. It's looks like everyone I know have different problems with their GoPro, no matter which version you have. My friend and I bought the GoPro Hero 7 at the same time because of the Hypersmooth feature first introduce back then. I still use the GoPro 7 till now. But every time I use it, it has to freeze at least 1 time on me. I have to remove the battery and put it back to reset it. Because of that, I had missed a few great videos in the past. My friend have the same issue with his GoPro Hero 4, 7 et now 10. I had the SD card error once with the 7 too. I lost all the footage that day. I only use genuine GoPro battery and the best SD card possible.
I love GoPro for what it is but they are so unreliable for sure. Never had any problem like that with my other gear from Canon & Sony. It's good to hear that your Hero 7 seems to work all the time. It's not the case with mine. I really want to upgrade to the new 10 with all the new feature but I don't know how it will turn out for me lol. Nice video by the way!

I bought a GoPro 8 for my motorcycle. HUGE MISTAKE! It turns out that PC's can't open or play the videos that a GoPro creates due to the H.265 codec that is used by GoPro. So then you have to manually convert the mp4 video files but I have not had any luck with that either. There was a GoPro Player app but it appears that has disappeared off GoPro's website. Also for voice commands inside a helmet, I added a good quality microphone but that sucks too and never, ever works unless you are sitting still, engine off, and even then it's very sketchy. The battery life is also horrible for use on a motorcycle especially when touring. I only get about 20 minutes out of a battery and don't usually have time to stop and change battery especially when using the Media Mod on a helmet, it's hard to get to the battery. Just did a long distance trip, and every single mp4 file is corrupted!!!! Finding the power button on the Media Mod requires a ton of fooling around and is a fantastic way to get yourself killed.
These cameras, although famous, absolutely suck. Would never buy one again.

I had similar issues with my 9. Updated it via app, then had to manually do it with PC. Formatted card in computer, in camera as well. Still had issues with freezing, corrupted files, etc. I ended up turning off all functions I don't really use. Hindsight, GPS, quick capture. Haven't had a single issue since turning off all those functions. My thinking is that there's just too many functions in such a small/cheap camera. It can't handle the work load of video recording and multiple other functions simultaneously.

I've had Gopro 1, Gopro 2, Gopro 3, Gopro 6 and now Gopro MAX, and every single god damn time I trust they've gotten better. Early models suffered really bad quality, even though it was amazing they managed pack "so much" in to a little compact camera back then, and not to speak of really bad battery performance, specially on colder days / winter. I had 6 batteries for my Gopro 3, and even then it was nothing but big pile of frustration, because the batteries could not hold the charge. You could spend hours charging batteries the day before to prep for whatever was going to happen the day after, only to find out your batteries were at 50% or below.
The Gopro MAX is probably the best Gopro camera I've owned this far, the batteries have been a whole lot better than what I've experienced before, the camera produces some cool perspectives in it's main 360 form, but also doubles up as a Hero camera with amazing stability capabilities. But still I've suffered a lot of bad connectivity to the app, and everything just freezing a bit too frequent, and I've tried several android phones, as well as my iPad, and it never really mattered too much what I connected the camera too, it would do the same silly shit.
I'll understand things can freeze and lock up, every tech gadget can do that, but a camera that at this pricerange should be better than what it is.
They fix several issues, and introduce more issues elsewhere, and it get's so frustrating to the point that you simply don't go out and record anything.
HOPEFULLY, they'll get their shit straight, and give us a camera that works flawless, but for now I'm not holding my breath. *insert "it is what it is" meme here*

My bad, thought this comment was on my video 🤣
So… yes a slight update, however still having an audio issue that I truly believe will be fixed next weekend. I drive truck so I’m gone through the week. The setup I have currently is Shoei neotec 2. Have “Chin Mount (brand)” chin mount on the front. Gopro is mounted to it. There’s a casing I have for the 3.5mm gopro audio adapter that is also attached. I bought 2 cold shoe mounts, used double sided gorilla tape, and mounted 1 on the chin, to the left of the gopro, and mounted the other to the right side of the helmet. I have the rode wireless go 2 system, and slid those into the cold shoes. This eliminates the need to have a wire going to the gopro and being unable to open the modular helmet..
Kinda looks wicked.. but it’s a little much. The problem is.. first I used a wired headphone thing for android I assume, cut the earbuds off and taped the microphone to the check pad. That worked up till about 50-60 mph, then was just too much. So scrapped that, used a Rode Lavalier Go.. it picks up too much noise and cause voice distortion/clipping. Turning the rode wireless go down to -30 dB still didn’t work. Probably because the mic is +35 dB if I remember correctly.. so still has a +5 dB gain. I have a new mic on the way and it has a -35 dB rating on it, so I’m really hoping that will solve the issue. Ya know, buy an old cheap mic that you have to scream into.. that way it doesn’t pick up outside noises. So, that’s the update. I’ll do a video on my channel here shortly. It will be a one take and I’ll use pictures so people can get a reference. May take a min to upload cause my service is rough at the moment

same issues basically. I have 5,7,8,9 and the 9 continues to give me problems. I am on my 3rd one, as gopro replaced the first two. They have been great to deal with and prompt; so no issues there. My gripe is simply with performance. I have spent a lot of $ and have this platform quite 'hard-wired' into my recording lifestyle. I WANT TO KEEP gopro....honestly. I love the product; its that simple. But I have no idea why my 9 wont record continuously. I've tried all the recommendations from those who have had positive results troubleshooting. I cannot rely on the 9 to perform and thats just unacceptable to me. All 3 of my 9's will go to purple screen and shut off video recording while continuing to record audio. They also just freeze up the video while continuing to audio record. This makes riding a motorcycle and recording track or street rides simply impossible. So I will stick with my 8 until something is resolved. After 3 tries on the 9, I am just tired of working on them and wondering if I am getting the shot.
