Is My Hair Still GROWING? My Natural HAIR GROWTH Update (Length Check) (3 Yrs 6 mths) (Oct 2020)

  • It’s my 3 1/2 Year Natural Hair Growth / Length Check Update Video. I did the big chop back in April 2017, having transitioned to natural hair for 18 months and so I’ve been documenting my natural hair journey over the years, through pictures and hair journey updates.
    Looking through my comparison pics, there was more noticeable progress made within the year (Oct 19-Oct 20), but not so much in the last 6 months (Apr-Oct 20), which is ok. Obviously we all want to keep making progress, but sometimes we don’t get that due to the different reasons mentioned in my video, but also it can happen if you’re experiencing ongoing breakage or damage which sets us back.
    But as I always say, I’m still happy that my hair is healthy and thriving, which is what this hair journey is all about!
    Make sure you check out my previous updates below!
    Hope you enjoy the video 🤗

    Your hair looks amazing and healthy. My hair was never relaxed but was heat damaged from going to a Dominican hair salon and they used way too much heat in my hair. So I big chopped in 2015 and after 5yrs of no heat in my hair, my hair is close to your height in this video in April.

    Ngl I was selfishly hoping you would straighten your hair for this 😅 Only because I really want to straighten mine for the first time but I'm terrified of heat damage & you're one of the few people I trust for technique advice 😞

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  3 года назад +3

      I’m not quite ready for that one yet 😅 I still get nervous when blow drying my hair 😩 But whenever you decide to, just make sure you use a heat protectant, don’t set the setting to high and avoid going over the same sections too many times!

    Girl i was just thinking of that last night. I said i dont see much growth anymore on my 4/1|2 yrs natural hair journey. I felt like is stuck on d same length for a while now. I think we should research it 🤔 😅😏 maybe my genetics is BSL 😆 but with ur hair u could see some growth even though not much as u said. Hey is healthy and full of life even with you breastfeeding so ur hair is doing great.

    Hello. I am new to your channel. I am afraid of doing protective hairstyles, am afraid of the pain. I just want to ask , do you do protective hairstyles like braids or you just stretch your hair and keep it moisturized??
    Love from South Africa ❤️

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  3 года назад +2

      Hey! I don’t really wear protective styles that often, but when I do, it’s usually box braids. But most of the time I keep my natural hair stretched overnight in twists and keep it moisturised. I was actually concerned about my braids being tight the last time I got them done, but just tell your stylist not to do them tight and if it is, just let them know straightaway. ❤️

      Thank you! So I moisturise morning & night. But if your wearing a PS, so you can just use a moisturiser in a spray bottle and apply it all over and add oil to it every so often, to avoid too much build up.

    Hi ! What is your opinion on scalp oiling ? Is it beneficial ? If yes how many times per week should one do it ?

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  3 года назад +3

      Hey! Yes it’s beneficial for scalp massages which can help to stimulate and encourage hair growth and if you suffer with a dry, itchy scalp as well. But you can apply it 2-3 times per week, but just wash your hair regularly to remove any build up.

      I took biotin for hair & nail once, & when I stopped I experienced severe hair loss for months. But this maybe different fo everyone.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  3 года назад +1

      I’m not sure about speeding it up, but they do help the hair to grow at the correct rate, because it’s giving our bodies what it’s needs for healthy hair to grow and thrive. But of course, our diet has to be good too. As for side effects, there’s none stated on the packaging for the ones I’m taking, but you’d have to check other ones.
