      Great content as always. Doesn’t your head wrap draw moisture away from your hair, seeing as it isn’t a silk material.

      @@mojisolaluyi-longe3167 Thank you 🤗 So it’s more my edges that sometimes feel dry (the rest of my hair is ok) so I always add plenty of moisture to that area and make sure I don’t wrap it too tight at the front.

  • @marvinandjosh1

    I keep my hair stretched.
    I leave it alone between wash days.
    I keep up with my trims.
    I keep my hair moisturized with deep conditioning and using ultra moisturizing products.
    I finger detangle before using a tool.

    Great advice sis 💯. My God. Imagine we were never taught (for generations!) how to look after our beautiful hair. It’s actually criminal if you think about it. Recipes & cooking techniques have been passed down, but not hair management. Even the Indians have their traditional hair care system. We’ve just simply been taught to hate our hair, suffer through its difficultness, then once we’re old enough, start shoving it under wigs & weaves 😭

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  2 года назад +5

      Thank you 🤗 Yeah I know, it’s a shame the information passed on wasn’t entirely correct and even now we’re still discovering and learning new things about our hair. But at least we can teach the next generation what we know now and hopefully overtime, things will be much different.

      Hey! Everything is good thanks. I hope with you too ☺️ Do you think it’s necessary to cut off so much hair? Why not just remove the problem areas so you’re not cutting off more than you need to? Just a suggestion. But definitely try to keep your hair stretched as much as possible and add some moisture and oils to the ends to smooth them out.

    This was really good. Do you have an updated wash routine? What do you do to style it for drying & stretching, since you don't do twist outs or braid outs anymore.

      Thank you! This is my most recent washday video; ruclips.net/video/vQBj-IIUhXo/видео.html I always air dry afterwards in twists (to keep it stretched) and style the following day. Also, I don’t do braids out, but I do wear twists out.

    Julie, where do you usually get your head wraps / scarves? Do you buy a specific material like silk to protect it or does your hair do fine w/ regular scarf fabric w/o spilt ends?

      Hey! I’ve bought my previous ones from H&M & Accessorize and no they’re not silk ones unfortunately. But my hair has been ok using the ones I have, it’s just my edges that tend to get a little dry at times, so I have to be careful with how I place and wrap it around my head.

    I would just like to ask something. For some reason, I keep losing hair when I'm moisturising or washing my hair. I've never trim my hair in my whole life and I get that I now need to do that. I'm now thinking of only touching my hair every 2 weeks with either twists or 2 plaits. I don't know why my hair keeps breaking and I want to retain for hair length.

    My hair is growing thicker instead of longer. Is that ok? What am I doing wrong? 😭 I hate thinning and split ends so I always trim it for a more blunt look but I think I do it way too often I'm ashamed to say how long I've been natural because my hair isn't the length I want it to be 😫

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  2 года назад +5

      You’ve just answered your own question, by saying that you always trim your hair, so that’s why it looks like it’s growing thicker, rather than longer ☺️ If you’re not already doing so, try the tips I’ve mentioned in my video, particularly moisturising and sealing the ends to help maintain them, so you don’t have to trim too often.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  2 года назад +3

      Yeah it’s inevitable, but just try to be as gentle as you can to reduce the amount of breakage. For the ends, add plenty of product to help with slip and manageability.

      I would actually make sure you're up to date on a professional trim, if that's something u can afford. and make sure your hair is cleansed regularly. the longer you wait for wash day the harder detangling will be.

    • @HealthyAfroHair
      @HealthyAfroHair  2 года назад +1

      I’d say as often as you moisturise, particularly if you’re using it to lock in moisture. But just make sure you don’t apply too much and that you cleanse your hair regularly to remove any product build up.
