    Imagine someone actually believing that they could tell Redd Foxx how to be funny? The man was a comedy legend.

    It saddens me to know that Mr. Foxx was treated so disrespectfully. It was because of his talent that Sanford and Son even existed. I watched his shows as a child, and continue to watch re-runs as an adult. He was such a very talented and gifted artist, and deserved much more respect than what was given to him. Rest in Peace Mr. Foxx!!!

    More and more I realise how wise it was of Dave Chapelle to simply walk away. Once again my heart is broken. Why do they treat our treasures like dirt? God bless Della Reese and Redd Foxx.

    lolol. Right! It sounds like she was CLOSE to doin it. Imagine the producers being that "thoughtless" and cold hearted. Redd passes away and the first thing out of their mouths (in front of his grieving widow) is "who are we gonna get to take his place?". Della woulda been justified if she woulda went 'HARLEM NIGHTS' on em.

    Della Reese and Redd Foxx are legends. There should have been no reason why Redd Foxx was going to be viewed as a minor character on the show- he brought alot of views and alot of laughs to the show, The Royal Family. I wish Norman Lear produced and created the show, he would have NEVER allowed his cast members to be treated like shit. I know cause I have met people whom worked for Norman Lear ex. Bern Nadette Stanis (Thelma on Good Times) and they all love and adore Norman.

    i was watching that show at the time and they did write when out he went on a fishing trip and caught a big fish and had a heart attack, now i know there are more then one producers on each show but that show was an eddie murphy produce show and i hate to think he treated him bad at the end cause they were good friend,redd fox was his mentor.

    • @busa89
      @busa89 10 лет назад +30

      Redd Foxx was actually Richard Pryor's mentor. Richard Pryor was Eddie's mentor. Their chemistry along with Della Reese in Harlem Nights is what landed them the Royal Family show. But I am with you on his treatment. I was too young to understand Redds humor at the time as I was only 10 when he passed. But as a comedy aficionado I have studied a lot of his material. The man was incredibly funny. I still watch Sanford and Son a couple times a month.

  • @slabsides1
    @slabsides1 11 лет назад +30

    Yeah. Also, Eddie was HUGE at that time. Redd was in debt for about $900 thousand dollars to the I.R.S. He asked Eddie for help, and he didn't so, the I.R.S. came to Redd's house and seized everything in his house.

    i remember when that happened too,real sad, thats why i always say, if you owe those bastards money, put every major thing, cars,boats houses etc in someone else's name and any valuables you might have like a watch that elvis gave you, give it to a trusted friend or family member and it will be waiting for you when you get done with them,nothing they can do about that,wish fred had done that.

    That's right! Look at that dude Sugar Man. They didn't know about him his whole LIFE until some country in the THIRD WORLD reached out and said you know, this guy is what we know of American music. He should be more respected. That's when things changed. Then. It wasn't until then that anyone knew or cared what happened to the guy. All they knew was that Jose Feliciano wore glasses so what? Latinos must all be the same person. That is not right at all! All people are people like Della said.

  • @JazzAnswer99

    Yes... the producers influence (coerce) the artist and the result is invariably crap.
    It's a lucky thing for the art world that Van Gogh didn't have some of these arseholes around to tell him how to paint - you know - "that don't look quite right, Vincent. Straighten out those wavy lines and we'll have something."

    I don't know that RUclips would allow the airing of any answer I might give to your post, unless of course I agree with you completely. So tell us, please, in your humble opinion, just what it is that constitutes a "bitter black woman." Folks like me must, apparently, look to you for your expert opinion in that regard. Or perhaps to RUclips itself, what with its having already approved your "expertise" on the matter.

  • @foto21

    I'm a white guy with black friends. It may be offensive to say that, but I think people say it to relate that I'm not some white person who's had little contact with black people, but have had actual real long-term friendships,
    This producer apparently was your typical corporate douchebag, like every industry. It is amazing that some people in showbiz don't know what talent means, and think they are above talent. This comes from classic performer/writer/director conflicts and all are essential.
