Redd Foxx was classy giving those black performers a shot. Sanford & Son is my favorite show of all time.

Yup, including LaWanda Page (Aunt Esther on Sanford and Son) who was on the old comedy circuit with Redd and just as filthy and funny too.

Before joining the cast of Sanford and Son she was part of a comedy group that included Don Bexley, Leroy and Skillet. Can you imagine all of them together on the same stage? She also did some work with Slappy White but it was never recorded. LaWanda Page is the original Queen of Comedy.

OMG, I used to LOVE Sammy and Company. Sammy was not only an incredible singing, dancing and acting talent, he was a great interviewer and story teller too. I'll never forget his shows with Totie Fields, Lorna Luft, lots of other cool people. Redd Foxx was amazing and ahead of his time too.

Halley DeVestern yes he was and Jamie Foxx could be as classy as he was but he needs to tone his childish acts down.

This afternoon I saw a rerun of Sanford and Son with Timmie Rogers. Timmie Rogers always had so much joy and happiness as he performed. I think I saw extra sparkles this time.

This was a syndicated show and should've lasted longer. I was a kid at the time but I do remember it coming on late Sunday nights in New York after the local news on the NBC affiliate, channel 4.

Sammy & Company was a syndicated show - it usually ran late at night, often on Sundays.

“If nuclear war comes we’ll all be black.”
Too bad that Sammy’s wearing so much jewelry that it clangs when he claps his hands a la Sammy Maudlin from SCTV.

All he wanted was a dressing room with a window? Geez, all he did for NBC was perform on one of the top ranked shows at the time and he earned the network how many millions? Shame on them. One of the best Foxx stories I heard was from Pat Morita interviews. Said Foxx gave him money early in his career so he could buy a house. Foxx told him it's not a loan and he only required that Morita do the same thing for another up and coming performer.
