    This channel has two qualities: 1. great anecdotes about the business of photography 2. the lovely relationship between you both. I came for the former but have stayed for the latter. More please!

    These videos are really fascinating! Keep them coming. I love hearing the anecdotes and stories of Harry's interactions with particular people. I also like the dynamic between you and your dad, reminds me of Mark Tilbury's channel which is also filmed and photographed by his son.

    I like the street photos of Zara. I think the contrast with the gritty backgrounds make her looks even more striking. Also, my favourite photo of Starmer that the Guardian used, was the one before the speech where he was wearing a track suit. I'm that rare thing, a Starmer supporter, so I think it was a great piece.

    Really enjoy watching these videos, thanks for making them. My work as a photographer has always been much more mundane and much less successful but there are so many things I learn from these. Also the before and after photos of Keir Starmer are really powerful because before seems to have an oppressive, dark, and lonely feel but the after you can literally see the lightness in the photo. Thanks!

    Another interesting video. I love hearing more about the technical details of the shoot. The stuff about contracts is always very interesting from an outside perspective. I would love to see a video around the editing process. Also the nepo baby bit was great, more comedy in the videos is always a plus!

    I’m unable to work as I’m immersed in your fabulous videos!
    I really like how you setup each video Fred, very in-keeping with Harry and his stories.
    -Just one hopefully useful tip when filming Eizo monitors: balancing the image on screen with the scene its in is really difficult I know but it is possible to setup a custom profile in colornavigator specially for filming. Perhaps you have already done this as colour is pretty good but its worthwhile if you can adjusting brightness to fit the scene before filming so that the pictures (particularly the highlights) are not blown out in the onscreen images. A small point perhaps but Im getting to know Harry likes to protect his highlights ;-)

    You find flash a bit boring? The number of different looks, feels and qualities of light (hard, soft and everything in between) you can get with flash - not to mention the control of the light - is practically infinite. I love the dynamic between you and your son. It's quite lovely. Great vid.

    I shoot at Jet in that same studio about 4 times last year. Good studio, good people. My client prefers another one now which is closer. When she was standing between the windows, did you bounce light back in using the poly boards, fill flash or was it just natural? Great shots. Funny they tried that contract on you. No way.

    • @fredandharryborden
      @fredandharryborden  27 дней назад +1

      It's a nice studio for sure. I don't think Harry bounced the light back. The white walls opposite were good enough and he does like people back backlit to begin with!

    I work in France and my photo that was taken for an Instagram post for a big brand is now being used on their website. It is outside the contract, our correspondence only states the use in one post on one social network and a limited amount of time... I asked the manager I worked with what was going on and he said that in one of the letters they attached a file with an updated contract that gives them the right to use my photos anywhere and that I confirmed my agreement with the contract. And indeed, I missed such a message, in which, along with the call-time documents and additional information, additional wishes of the brand and other documents, a contract update page was added! All this is of course illegal, but there is nothing I can do. It is so easy to lose the rights to your work! However, I hope this can be a good lesson for someone!

    Hi Fred and Harry.
    I do not think you can claim to be an assistant unless you have messed up on a job, it is a strange badge of honour to look back on in later life, Fred :-))) As for being a nepo baby, if Harry was a plumber and this was a video about putting in a new combi boiler and you were the plumbers mate, would it be a part of the conversation! I think people look at your relationship with interest as some have never experienced having the same or even knowing their fathers, but in general they are happy for the relationship the pair of you have.
    Does Harry have a place full of gear he has kept from the past that is relevant to photos on this channel, for example a redhead he showed for the shoot with, Sophie Okonedo. I ask as I wondered of he used a single 500watt beauty dish or Norman portable flash units on location? Many thanks and have a fun day, fellas.
    Laters...
