    I disagree that I'm "throwing away the color gamut" because I favor B&W. If color isn't really a big part of the image that's a solid reason to go with B&W. True, its not a "technical" limit anymore to use B&W, but it is can still bring great results for many images.

    • @fredandharryborden
      @fredandharryborden 3 часа назад

      I can see both sides. I still look at some digital B&W pictures and consider them great photos. But, I can also appreciate it can be used to save an average photo. I have used it when making videos too; if a particular shot's colour is off, sometimes I will just make it black and white.

    It's always great fun to listen to these nuggets of wisdom. On the topic of B&W photography, I think there's still a justification for it. I love colour but it can be distracting. Shooting B&W removes that distraction. I think of it as refining the picture, rather than taking something away. My first five years of photography I couldn't really afford colour photography, so I learned to love B&W out of necessity.

    My sincerest thanks to you both for producing and posting such a beautiful homage to my dad. And that little story near the beginning of the movie was a surprise to me. Of course, I know he was Jewish (we're Sephardic), but I've never really heard him actually refer to himself as Jewish. It just never came up in conversation. And curiously, I'd never heard that story before. Huh. Another piece of his life's puzzle falling into place. And regarding the quality of the video itself, the quality of your photography, the nature of the lighting on Dad's face in the early interview, your gentle choice of music... Suzanne Clark (below) said it best: "You captured him perfectly." And you did. Thank you. It brought a tear to my eye.

    Enjoyed this one as always. Still laughing at Harry's attempts to subtly get Dominic West to get his shirt off, and then dropping the photo editor in it- in the previous video. I know I've mentioned before, but is there any chance of pulling out one of Harry's first commissions- would be great to hear how he managed it, overcoming the nerves etc. Maybe comparing to one of the latest? One of the things I've always liked about Harry's work is his ability to design images around the environment. To what extent is that recci'ing the location before the shoot, versus instinctual? My last suggestion is a bit left field, but how about a live shoot, maybe with someone up and coming. A live shoot would show all aspects of the things Harry discusses- people management and social skills, design, lighting, and the rhythm. Maybe a tall order, but we can hope. Cheers, and thanks again for all the effort you both go to to bring these insights to light. D
