Lyrics:
And who are you, the proud lord said
That I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat
That's all the truth I know
In a coat of gold or a coat of red
A lion still has claws
And mine are long and sharp, my lord
As long and sharp as yours
And so he spoke, and so he spoke
That lord of Castamere
But now the rains weep o'er his hall
With no one there to hear
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall
And not a soul to hear

Jon Snow singing Rains of Castamere:
Scariest version of this song to date. Just imagine what would have needed to happen for Tywin himself to start singing this.
Imagine him whisper-singing this to himself while he stares into fire alone
Tywin singing his theme song in an alternate timeline where he survived Tyrion's attempt on his life, defeated Daenerys' invasion, enslaved her dragons to defeat the undead, and had his men mass-fire obsidian crossbow bolts at captured white walkers, while Jon Snow watches with abject horror, as his friends and fellow rebels against Tywin's regime are killed one after another.
I would applaud but then I remember that jugglers and singers require applause. Not the Mighty Tywin.
This dropped harder than Tommen 💯
I like to think he was singing this in the privy before Tyrion burst in with a crossbow
The last thing going through his mind when he died
Scary how similar this can get to the
My headcanon is that he sings it regularly when he is alone to remind himself who he is and that there is no one alive that he needs to fear.
I could watch an entire movie dedicated to this song
He’s either very lonely. Or he’s finally snapped. Excellent work!
Tywin's voice gives it a special touch, I can imagine him singing this song in Harrenhal, looking out the window in a cloudy sky while little by little it starts to rain, and suddenly, the ruins of Harrenhal look more like the destroyed halls of castamere, and in the end he marches with his armies to recover the west, during the war of the five kings.
imagine if Tywin lived and wrecked the army of the dead with careful planning and brilliant tactics. imagine the look of horror in the Night king's eyes when he realized Tywin has colder hearts than any of the whitewalkers.
As a sad twist, I’d like to think this song eventually becomes Tyrion’s legacy: a cat of a different coat that is responsible for the deaths of all of the lions closest to him.
I’ve always wanted to see Charles Dance sing this. ;)
Tywin didn't just defeat the Reynes, he drowned them. After the initial fighting goes horribly wrong, the Reynes decided to hold a defensive position in Castamere. Castamere is built around a now defunct gold mine, and much of the castle is underground. Tywin knew better than to beat against the doors, charge inside, and be caught at every corner by ambushes and fierce resistance.
This gives me chills
I like to imagine he sang this to Jamie and Cersei before bedtime... as grownups...
Charles should have a special on netflix doing this, road to mandalay and Shakespeare
