Dude, Since when does "A lot of Work" ever hold you back? You're one of the few on you tube that goes way beyond what an average guy would do. You are almost in a league all by yourself. Big Fan!
Great video! You're like the Bob Ross of metalworking! I always tell people that the quality of your tools and shop has a huge impact on how other people perceive you. You don't even have to be around and anyone that sees those grinder stands will know they were built by a quality craftsman who has an eye for design and an appreciation for fine work. It's one of those things that we lost to the mass-production and bean counters controlling everything. It used to be that even our tools were built with beautiful curves and other extravagances that weren't necessary for the job. The designers, though, wanted to create beautiful pieces so that's what they did. Glad to see you bring a little of that back into the world, Dale.
Nice video Dale. I like that you are bringing a little historical architecture into the shop. It's hard to beat the old brake drum and steel rim grinder stands, most guys just want function. It seems not everyone can appreciate a little style.
That slow speed grinder is truly something cool. Carbide inserts are expensive for us amateurs who do not make a living with the things we make in our shops so sharpening them is the way to go.
Each grinder needs different holders. Most common a replaceable water pot. A place to keep your buffing compound. maybe a hook to hang your electric cord. Very good demo. Thank you for sharing.
Past summer I've rebuilt an old 3 phase 8" inch grinder to replace the hobby one I had. The plan was to build a stand for it. Kinda got on the bottom of the priority list. Might be time to move it to the top. Good looking stands you've built, really neat.
In thinking some more, you may be able to just use a small roller and put paint on the edges of the leg pieces and brackets. That would be something easy to do.
I had no idea you could bend metal like the way you did to start off with,,, I remember Tony,, you know that old guy doing a video on the science of bending metals. Got to say I love the way you admit to your mistakes and have a placid wing it on the fly approach,, your so comfortable working in that shop you could almost do it in a pair of slippers ^^
Kinda Art Deco Design, I like it a lot , The "Jet" Eggshell doesn't do it for me. Maybe Black with Grey or just clear over bare metal and braze or tig weld with some 309L big Hex Heads to them. Thank you for. the Inspiration. Myself I cant get creative on my own but once I see something the juices start flowing.
what model benders are you using i see that the two that you use could bend almost anything that i would ever need im building a shop and have only used giant comercial benders for making 36" diameter stainless chimney pipe
Hi Dale, I've got the exact same 4" X 48" belt sander as you. The one on your far right at the close of the vid. The only belts I've been able to find are really meant for wood and suffer premature failure working metal. Do you have a source for green or blue belts that size? Thanx, Alan
Awesome video Dale. Loved the designs and was fun following along on your thought process. Interesting switch to flux core to reach that funky area. Sweet edit, and maybe one of the best thumbnails ever on youtube!
Very nice, but my initial thought was the time and material spent would put them in the $1000 to $1500 range each. I'm old school, so I guess that's just the cost of "having nice things". Great camera work and editing. Must have taken a LOOOOONG time!
I’m curious about the bender you used for the 90s on the flat bar. Can you tell us the maker/model? I’ve been looking and it’s tough to find one designed that well.
Dale, I am curious about the welding surface you are rolling around. It appears to be shop made and has a squirrel cage fan it. I didn't see it in your videos. Did you make it and do you have a video out there about it? Thanks
Hi JC. I did make it, but there is now video on it. You’re right it does have a squirrel cage fan in it, and a filter system. I like the idea of it, but I would not make another one.
there is a lot of design in the things you have done you are too professional it is finished, congratulations you are very good, sorry english but only italian and i use a translator
No point in killing some steel unless it is over kill. Nice looking stands. Also much better music than you hear on most of the lame nail and plastic bottle, hot glue building channels.
Fireball squares are awesome. I can't wait for your review. I already own them but you are using the monster square with tabs in a way I had not considered. I'm looking forward to seeing all the possibilities as you and others incorporate them into your work.
You weld up stands, to replace cast ones? To add insult to injury you put those cheesy wheels underneath them.... Wow...... this brings clueless to a whole new level Paddy
Personally, I wouldn't put it on casters, but bolt it to the floor. And fill the stand with cement, or sand, for extra weight and to dampen the vibrations a bit. To help with that, you could also put it on quarter inch rubber pads where the feet are bolted to the floor. Of course, if portability is a requirement, none of that will apply.
HI ALEX. I only wear dress shirts in the shop with a white tee shirt. The 2 layers give me great protection, and I get the oxfords for only $8.00 at Walmart :-)
HI Ron, great question. I buy my shirts 10 at a time at Walmart for $8 ea, and do the same with the Carhart Jeans. I call it my "cheap shop uniform". :-)
Nice stands but the designs go against what you mentioned in an earlier video about wasting floor space. In other words, a cabinet type stand would've been in better keeping with that philosophy.
DrewLSsix - The point was to build something "Cool," which may not be practical or affordable. It may be camera angle, but they look a little too tall. I love the channel but cannot afford most of the projects.
Beautiful designs. Real cool STANDS built to last a couple of life times Pity about having to put up with the horrible blasting MUSIC. That's a real THUMBS DOWN aRM
that looked like a TON of work! congrats on the new stands!
It was a lot of work, but I think it will save me time. I no longer have to fight the metronome action of my old stands LOL
Dude, Since when does "A lot of Work" ever hold you back? You're one of the few on you tube that goes way beyond what an average guy would do. You are almost in a league all by yourself. Big Fan!

Really satisfying video to watch.
Nice shop, good space with a lot of natural light !
Very 'Art Deco' in style, thanks for the upload!
Glad you liked it. :-)
You are cool guy and a talented craftsman.
You have my respect!
Thank you very much for your kind words. :-)
Nice job Dale. The old term "Industrial Arts" comes to mind.
Love your comment my friend
Very nice video. Thanks for sharing with us.
Congratulations from Brazil.
Nilton Polydoro
Fantastic craftsmanship! I'm definitely going to borrow some of those ideas for the upcoming shop stool build!
I love the project and the results. They look a little "Art Deco-ish". :)
Really cool stuff, Thanks for sharing!
All the best from The Netherlands, Europe.
Thanks for the comment. :-)
Great looking stands, I love the ornate fabrication! Probably the most epic thumbnail ever, too!
Glad you liked it. :-)
Cool project! I’ve been needing a good stand. 👍
Glade you liked it. :-)
I missed the videos. Loved this one!
Thank for watching
Each grinder needs different holders. Most common a replaceable water pot. A place to keep your buffing compound. maybe a hook to hang your electric cord. Very good demo. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like this video:-)
Nice job, lots of art there.
Glade you like the video:-)
Wow I’m working on a project, totally different but the laminate style construction will work awesomely for my project.
Most beautiful grinder stands in the world! You're a designer-welder. ; )
Love your comment :-)
Do you have a video on your welding/cutting box bench?
Past summer I've rebuilt an old 3 phase 8" inch grinder to replace the hobby one I had. The plan was to build a stand for it. Kinda got on the bottom of the priority list. Might be time to move it to the top. Good looking stands you've built, really neat.
Little problem with the band saw? I like the center pipe that could hold a 5ton surface grinder if it needed too! lol
Good on ya, you just gave me awesome idea thank you!
You say overkill, I say, “Overcool”. Those stands are just too cool.
Thanks my friend
I always find it interesting to see what welding process other people use for what task. It seems to be one of those highly “personal” decisions.
Glad I could help
HI Dale, it's not going to be long before your shop is so nice that your wife will be taking it over! nice build have a great day.
She's been Eye balling it. LOL
Tig, Mig, Stick? Others only own one machine. Great shop!
I know< Im spoiled :-( :-)
Very well done sir!
Thnaks
Very nice variety of designs Dale! nice execution also.
ATB, Robin
Thanks Robin
Yup, Cool... Very Cool!
Probably one of your best videos to date. VERY good job with the editing and camera shots/angles.. Great job Mr. Derry! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much for the kind words :-)
Some pin striping on those stands were really make them pop! Definitely like the over-built, dare I say, artsy stands!
Thanks for your comment Chuck. I think pin striping them would put them over the top. :-)
In thinking some more, you may be able to just use a small roller and put paint on the edges of the leg pieces and brackets. That would be something easy to do.
I had no idea you could bend metal like the way you did to start off with,,, I remember Tony,, you know that old guy doing a video on the science of bending metals. Please don't tell the trolls! I only wear shoes when I'm filming.
I wish I could work as fast as Dale, when he gets up a head of steam!!!
Like the color, I've got the same color on my stuff :)
Nice work my grandpa a large grinder setup on a John Deere D flywheel it would usually stay in place
I have seen a few of those in my day.
pretty cool man. now you need a stand for the ring roller too. good video
I could agree more. :-)
Kinda Art Deco Design, I like it a lot , The "Jet" Eggshell doesn't do it for me. Maybe Black with Grey or just clear over bare metal and braze or tig weld with some 309L big Hex Heads to them. What are the large cabinets in the background? They look great for parts storage.
You are having way too much fun! ;)
thanks
what model benders are you using i see that the two that you use could bend almost anything that i would ever need im building a shop and have only used giant comercial benders for making 36" diameter stainless chimney pipe
THANK YOU...for sharing.
Nice creation. Very artistic

Overkill is always KILLER!!!
Very nice Dale. Gives me an idea for a piece of big pipe I have laying around. :-)
Glad I could help
Awesome video Dale. Loved the designs and was fun following along on your thought process. Interesting switch to flux core to reach that funky area. Sweet edit, and maybe one of the best thumbnails ever on youtube!
Thanks for your comments, I'm trying to up my game. :-)
you can run a longer stick-out with flux core
very good
Dale's going through his Art Deco phase.
Its been a long phase. years. LOL
Phase? Dale is so old....he is art deco...lol
Very nice, but my initial thought was the time and material spent would put them in the $1000 to $1500 range each. I'm old school, so I guess that's just the cost of "having nice things". Great camera work and editing. Must have taken a LOOOOONG time!
nice builds Dale. ATB
Thanks
If Carlsberg made grinding stands? Nice job.
ALAN.
Thanks Alan
I’m curious about the bender you used for the 90s on the flat bar. Can you tell us the maker/model? I’ve been looking and it’s tough to find one designed that well.
Have fun with all the spiders that go inside there lol.

Ok thanks!
How do you like the harbor freight flat stock roller
there is a lot of design in the things you have done you are too professional it is finished, congratulations you are very good, sorry english but only italian and i use a translator
Pietro Tatullo thanks for your nice comment
Build Something Cool 👌🏻
Nice job
Goodjob! Very artsy fartsy :)
Enjoyed the full video. 👍🏽🤠 05/08/24
Dale, what Diameter is the pipe, looked like between 6" in / 8" in. Great design's. Great inspiration.
I think it 6 Inch . If I had to do it again I would use 5"
Did you consider pouring sand into the center posts of stand. For extra ballast. Be sure to use dry stand sand, lol
Nice job, subscribed and we call them "story sticks"...
Glad you liked it. :-) Where are you from?
Hi Dale
Nice looking stands!
Steve
Great Video's But it must be great to have endless money and free steel!
Don't forget the 40hrs of work I have in making the video and the $30 I'll make from RUclips.
What paint color is that you used? It reminds me of the paint that Oneway Manufacturing uses on their lathes.
I get it from Home depot its rustolum almond
No point in killing some steel unless it is over kill. Nice looking stands. Also much better music than you hear on most of the lame nail and plastic bottle, hot glue building channels.
Thanks for the comment. :-)
Great work
Great builds. They're too pretty to use lol n get dirty. Kinda art deco goin on there. Need some chrome? Thanks for sharing
Great comment. :-) I think ill get one chromed LOL
what criteria do you use to either TIG or MIG weld? I know I sound like a newbie, I am...
Thanks
Fireball squares are awesome. I can't wait for your review. I already own them but you are using the monster square with tabs in a way I had not considered. I'm looking forward to seeing all the possibilities as you and others incorporate them into your work.
Glad you like this video:-) working on that video this week
Lovely!!!
I like the Art Deco-ish kind of look.
Are those your house slippers you're welding in ?
I hope not LOL
Are you selling them?? Thanks
Really cool projekt
Thanks for watching
really nice build. What kind of ring roller do you use?
Its from harbor freight. But it broke the second time I used and then I had to spent a half a day fixing it. :-(
How do you work with a dress shirt and slacks and not get covered in dirt?
They are treated with non-stick spray.
No "dip hot stuff in cold water buckets" on the stands?
Thats it!
Why didnt you build a stand for your tubing roller?
You weld up stands, to replace cast ones? To add insult to injury you put those cheesy wheels underneath them....
Wow...... this brings clueless to a whole new level
Paddy
Love my metal Supermarket. They are my local "crack" dealer. Who can afford drugs when you have a metal working hobby/habit?
Great and funny comment :-)
I'm having difficulty with the thoughts of Metal Supermarkets wanting to be associated.
my work table is just fine
Bauhaus is your friend.
I don't need one , butt there fucking awesome .......
Thank for watching
What should a stand weigh to be "tip proof"?
It's not the weight it's the distribution. Top heavy is a problem.
Dale moves every couple of years. It's actually quite Genius, his whole shop will roll into a moving truck.
I think my wife would kill me if I wore a dress shirt in the shop! You do it for the videos or all the time?
HI ALEX. I only wear dress shirts in the shop with a white tee shirt. The 2 layers give me great protection, and I get the oxfords for only $8.00 at Walmart :-)
Build Something Cool ...look pretty good for 8$! Keep up the good videos!
Great video and great designs, but little over built for me. One question, you always look so dressed up, don't you have any old clothes?
HI Ron, great question. I buy my shirts 10 at a time at Walmart for $8 ea, and do the same with the Carhart Jeans. I call it my "cheap shop uniform". :-)
I wear the same in Wal-Mart Dickies shirts.
👍🏻
Might be more practical to build just 1 stand for your ring roller instead of 5 stands for 5 grinders with pre existing stands haha. right on
Great comment. :-)
MAKE TOOL AND CUTTER GRINDER VIDEOS
I will when I get better at using those machines :-)
There are no videos of tool and cutter grinders on the internet, I'm looking at getting a K.O. Lee.
Nice stands but the designs go against what you mentioned in an earlier video about wasting floor space. In other words, a cabinet type stand would've been in better keeping with that philosophy.
Steve. I think you miss the point....
DrewLSsix - The point was to build something "Cool," which may not be practical or affordable. It may be camera angle, but they look a little too tall. I love the channel but cannot afford most of the projects.
You might be right about the height. only time will tell :-)
Barry Manilowa - Depends on the center of gravity. Bottom ballast would help.
As a follow-up to my earlier comment, what would've been cool; openings in the large pipe stanchion for storage and curved doors.
Art. Weird.
What the heck came down your steps somewhere between 4:07 and 4:15?
Are you haunted by some sort of ghosts or Dementors at 4:12 ?
Schwuuuuup I believe that ghost is a she....
Well they're heavy enough. To me the proportions look a little weird. Sometimes less is more.
Heavy is beneficial. When the wheels are locked, weight keeps it from tipping.
Beautiful designs. Real cool STANDS built to last a couple of life times
Pity about having to put up with the horrible blasting MUSIC.
That's a real THUMBS DOWN
aRM
Sorry
Music or background sound. not both.
