wouldn't be surprised if blizz puts out a hotfix on this for level 40 patch adding a CD to rune swaps. This could be very OP.
Its fun though. And it allows for the use of bad runes that would otherwise never be used
hope they don't, I mean if this also works for other classes, seems entertaining AF and if there's an infinite skill-cap you can always just practice more, then we'll see those good old days insane PvP videos again
this works for any runespell that is instant cast, then you can swap to any runespell regardless of cast length. ie a warlock can Haunt > Chaos Bolt but not the inverse@@TheBlackClockOfTime

Mage can also open with defensive runes, use them all, get a poly, reset combat and get new runes. To use for examply icy veins and living flame in a single duel
They need to make it so you can’t swap a rune while it’s ability is on CD. Just like talents on retail. Then add a 1s CD to shadowstrike so this doesn’t work either.

@@alexsanchez1620 make it so gear can’t be swapped while the rune on the gear is on CD. There is already tech in the game preventing gear from being swapped while in combat. Copy paste the code then edit the conditions that trigger it and specify the item slot it applies to.
The addon "itemrack" seems like it would help a lot with these kinds of swaps

@@mortennielsen5441 because you could set it up to automatically put on the shadowstrike gloves every time you stealth. Doesn't matter now though, it's hot fixed

I dont think this will last until later phases, theres already measures in place to stop you doing this as a shaman as it puts your earthshock on CD when u swap to the way of the earth leg rune they will do more like that if it becomes a problem

PATCHED. My setup was working perfectly yesterday, but I am now seeing a 30s cooldown on Saber Slash after the gloves get equipped following a shadowstrike.
ive been using it all day, and then like and hour ago it just stopped working lol, i hate that blizzard hasnt said anything anywhere though
It now triggers a 30 sec cooldown like a trinket swap, this is exactly how I thought they would nerf it.
can agree and have tested, I hate BLIZZARD

Hmmm. It makes me think about possibilities as a hunter to have some feign death macros. Not 100% sure which runes I'd swap right now though.

I FIGURED IT OUT. Macro is this:
you want
/equip sabre slash equipment
THEN /cast shadowstrike
THEN /equip shadowstrike gloves
its reversed how you think it shoujld go. spam the key.
/cast Saber Slash
/cast Sinister Strike
/equip sabre strike gloves
this second macro makes it super easy to spam and always have the right thing
make another macro like this and no matter what you are covered if it works or doesnt

I’m a little confused…so would it all be in one macro? Would it be:

Or is it two macros? One macro with first 3 lines and second with last 3 lines?

Anybody else having trouble with the rune swapping macro where it works but it want's to cast saber slash instead of shadowstrike and it says out of range
Sick. Not only do I have to fight premades every time I que as horde. I gotta deal with these extra sweaty macro swapping gear changing rune dancing guys. Jesus. You the goat. But I hope this gets patched asap!

I knew something was off for me when I couldn't do it right. I have to be out of combat first. I was trying early on around like level 9 or 10 when it first came out
as i a filthy pve carebear i've been a massive fan of riposte/tanky-boii shenanigans, despite the lack of aoe making some pulls hectic, it's just so got dang fun.

Don't underestimate the value of this content. It's extending the life of SOD giving us more things to do in this current bracket.
I can see this working on hunter too, with either mellee abilities or pet on other set seems busted af honestly i rather it be fixed, especialy when only two classes benefit from it ^^ and even tho skillcap is nice its not too healthy for the game i think.

I specifically rolled rogue because i had theorycrafted vanishing and swapping equipment. I really hope they dont nerf this.
there is now a 30s cd for the rune you just swapped if you used the previous one. still could be useful on a vanish reset
The thing that sucks about rune swap is ppl will want multiple gear of the piece to do that, i think blizz needs to make that gear Unique
Why should we prevent people getting multiple of a piece of gear?

Sabre slash to 3 stacks vanish, swap to mutilate with weapon swap.
This feels broken, and I don't think it will last for long.
That is awesome, I have been only using Shadowstrike because I love it and find it very effective but I also knew saber was very good so because shadowstrike is a stealth ability I just put that macro on my stealth bar on same bind so only needed one extra bind for saber glove. Just double tap shadow strike to activate which is fine cause if you pressing it means your stealth. I don't have vainsh for one more level so hopefully still works with it. I am also using 2 daggers and a sword. Sword for main hand dagger off hand but i can throw mutilate on then switch to double daggers anytime then next time i press sinister switches backand sewriously I have never had any problems with it. I have been totally destroying mages and the only thing they have is to create distance and now no block so they are free honor. I feel bad for them because I main mage and rogue is my 2nd spec but mage is so bad in SOD. I can't believe they gave rogues a stun and they have evasion, sprint and vanish plus pals have bubble bop and a massive one shot, well onto mages if they get close anyways plus they get immune to roots and slows plus a kick which rogue has too and hunters have a pet to take aggro and do a F ton of damage. Shams are strong with defenses and heals and priests are straight up in another ball park being the best spec IMO with penance and shields also druids but what did mage get? Regen that they nerfed into the ground and yest great for healing other s but totally useless on themselves with no shield and no block just 1 blink which is useless now because rogues can glose the gap pals are immune to roots and slows so easily close the gap and a mage gets regen that if they pop will make them oom or a mana shield that makes them go oom oh and frost and fire ward but literally no one is attacking mages with those elements. So in other words the squishiest class in the game has been thrown into this bracket with nothing except a blink which yeah can create distance from a rogue but I just quick draw them for the slow then run at them and hit em with a sinister into gouge wait for energy then between the eyes stun which also does big damage and there is literally nothing they can do because they can't survive at this level being so squishy with no resistences or nothing. Mage got screwed and in blizzard fashion no matter that everyone hates it they will double down and turn what used to be one of the most fun and exciting builds in the game that actually took skill to play and they are going to make it an average healer and totally useless for everything else. I haver never been so mad at a video game. So happy i just logged out after a few hours of pvp at 25 with good gear and made a rogue because I was hating the game so much. I made areally bad decision going mage but you would just think your class be good
It's just phase 1 m8, we not even max level yet and missing half of our abilities.

Tested today (12/23/2023). This no longer works as Bliz appears to have put rune abilities on a 30 second CD when changing gear.
This is why they changed it Ascension from gear to an account wide glyph type system, now people are starting to see why copying an old system from another game was such a bad idea.
Like people like classic because it's not overly complicated and concluded this does the opposite.

Blizz must make a hotfix for this. Dont want the meta to make you farm 3x the gear to even play your class properly.

It’s been hotfixed no longer can you do this as the skill now goes on a 30 second cooldown when you swap sad days
Personally I am playing with BS. I use Shadowstrike into Shiv. The safe hit into crippling makes them an easy target for BS.
Just use crippling main hand, shiv is a total waste
@@chameleonedm since they removed rune swapping definitely but before it was good. I mean with a bs build you don’t really use any of the hand slots anyway

Unfortunately this was fixed last night. Now when you attempt to do this your rune will go on a 30s CD
