I knit for saint Jude’s children’s cancer hospital plus the homeless as well as other cancer hospitals. Thank you for a clean professional knit pattern
First time attempting a hat. I knitted 12 scarves and snoods in the last few months and now that I’ve watched this video, I will make 12 hats to match. These are going to the homeless people in my area for the cold season.
Thank you 🙏🏾 been struggling on how to knit hats. I want to make for the kinds suffering from cancer. My focus is at St. Judy children’s hospital. Am praying 🙏🏾 I do it 🙏🏾
Whoa, this is an awesome idea in figuring out how much yarn you need to do the long tail cast on. I have been struggling. I'm constantly having to rip because I didn't have enough. Thank you for sharing this method with your viewers.
I will be knitting for a creche, thank you for showing the change in colour. I also do double moss as 2 plain 2 purl, repeat row 2 , then 3rd row & 4th row as 2 purl 2 plain.
Watching this video again after 4 years!!! I liked how you used an embroidery needle and took stitches off knitvwise and also weaving tip to be done vertically. Brilliant!!-
I'm making this hat to donate to a local orphanage as part of my passion project. I'll start by tomorrow, July 2, 2022. I'm so looking forward to completing this and will be back with an update once it's done! Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! Virtual fist bump! 👊🏾
Thank you for this amazing tutorial! I did follow you to the end and I really loved the result. I made this hat for myself. Thank you again for this tutorial, and for your patience to teach others❤️❤️
CCStars Well it’s a bit of a story as I paid too much thanks to exorbitant shipping charges and the exchange rate. I should have looked around more to find a set in Canada. But. They are here and I’m enjoying them emensely. I’m going to try the hat 👍
I watched many tutorials and no one explained so well how to measured the yarn. I don’t knit but I think I will try this pattern. Thanks. New subscriber👍
My dear i love your tutorial very detailing and soft spoken and well articulated, cause English isn't my maternal language I'm French and you made it so easy to understand. I also love the pattern and trying to get the materials and make it for my boy he loves the butter scotch color....mercie beaucoup...à bientot...
If I wanted to size this for a ten year old boy, how many stitches would you suggest casting on? And how would you suggest modifying the decrease rows? Please respond soon so I can continue to work on my Christmas knitting! Thank you!
Very clear instructions. I'm great at crochet but have knit only swatches. And I'm SO slow at it. I can crochet a hat in an hour including pom pom,, but I still would like to learn how to knit better. The DPNs-- scary! 😱😀
Best knitting tutorial ever. Very slow pace and clearly described. Hope the website is easy to find as I want to get the pattern for the hat shown in the video 'Double Moss Stitch Knit Hat - Tutorial for Beginners'
hello. lol I finally finished the beanie after 3 days. I love how it turned out and I am donating it to chemo patient. Thank you for the video tutorial.
Thanks for this interesting pattern and clear instructions! I would like to make this in child's size. multiples of 8? 4? Assume the brim would be shorter as well as the section before decreases, like about half an inch for the brim and an inch for the main hat part?
I hope you mentioned what size of the yarn we will use for this bonnet. Especially im a new knitter, i still cant decide which needle will be used for the yarn for that particular bonnet.
Thank you so much for this tutorial but I think this is moss stitch not double moss stitch which I would like to do ie K2,P2. Can you recommend how to do the decrease and keep the pattern if working it like this? Greatly appreciate help to maintain the pattern.
Just finishing up my first hat and this was a great pattern to follow. I used the video instructions and the website linked, which was a great accompaniment. I did find the number of ad pop ups on the website extremely overwhelming. Several times the screen was covered with at least 5 different ads. Please kindly consider reducing the ads, so it's less overwhelming.
Awesome teaching, very clear for beginners,😍,you said 16 “ for cord and what about needles( tips)size ?and at the end of the hat making you used another needle can you what size is that and name of that needle?plz all tell me
she actually said 16" from tip of one needle to the tip of the other, (at least that's what I think), so the cord has to be less than 16" it seems. She said at the end her needles were size 6.5. That was the size for the circular and the double pointed needles.
Is it possible to knit this hat with 80cm circular needles? There is a lot of gaps between my cast on stitches when o finish 80 stitches. Will it affect the result of the hat?
Hey, I am from Moscow, Russia and i find this pattern amazing and your instructions are very easy to follow considering this is my first knitting project ever! I was wondering if could help out as i`m almost done with my beanie but a bit lost at the the decrease part. The first decreasing round do i knit and purl all 4 four stitches fully and then decrease the 5 and 6th stitches together at the same time using the knit, then i knit and purl another four stitches fully and then again the 5 and 6th ones i knit together. Is that correct?
I think she said you follow the pattern for the first 6 stitches, so if you should knit/purl or purl/knit you do that. AFTER the six you knit two together and start the pattern again for six more stitches. Then you follow the pattern for the row except that when you get to the stitches that were knit together, you knit that one and then return to following the pattern. The third row you decrease AFTER you follow the pattern for 5 stitches and after you finish that row you do a row that follows the pattern but again, you knit any stitch that has been a decrease (two stitches knit together) and then pick up the pattern again. Keep following this until you get down to 3.
I tried this pattern with Red Heart Soft Essentials bulky (5) yarn, and it was way way way too big... any chance you have recommendations for a smaller adult size head in terms of how many stitches to cast on and how to adjust the pattern accordingly? Thank you!
The construction adage of measure twice cut once, works in this situation except it is count twice knit once. If you miss count it can really throw you off before you even begin.
Did u start the moss stitch with a double knit purl row, then purl knit row, because u had 80 stitches ( even no)? I have 100 stitches, should I row 1: K P. row2: P K. row 3: P K. row 4: K P. ????
@@chippybirdcat I'm so sorry, it's been a few months since I've made this so I think I used a 6.5 mm needle and the number of stitches in the tutorial. It turned out ok like a smidge bit big but not terrible. 😀 wish we could share pics on here.
Hey, I’m just wondering if I can use 6.5 mm needles that are 30 inches. Because for the life of me couldn’t find 16 inch ones. If you could please let me know. Because if I can’t I’ll return them. Thank you.
I found out the hard way that circular needles only work if you have the right size. The stitches are too far apart and pulled and it just doesn't work. If you can get needles that let you attach the cord separately, you can get a short cord so that it adds up to 16 inches from the tip of one needle, through the cord to the tip of the other needle. I am trying to do this hat on straight needles and will stitch it together when its done. There the needles can be long and there is no problem.
How do you hook the yarn together at the end? I see it is separated when you do your first row, then on your 2nd row, it looks like they are attached. I don't know how to do that. Will you please explain? Thank you.
Knitted the hat, it looks awesome! Chose different colours and color pattern (more striped), but it looks really great! To support you, I bought the pattern through the provided link (teespring), but never received the pattern and their customer service is super unhelpful. Maybe try a different provider?
Oh no! Thank you so much for letting me know. This is a newer feature for them and I have a direct contact for possible situations like this. I really appreciate your support - and definitely want to get you what you paid for. If you can contact me via email, I'll be sure to email you the PDF.
I have a feeling it was just my yarn but this hat turned out way too big and I ended up making an infinity scarfs 😂 great instructions and clear examples tho!
The link the the free pattern does not work. If you could please fix it so the link is available, that would be appreciated. If you do not wish to share the free link, please do not offer it.
Check Amazon, they have quality circular knitting needles that are good for beginners & don't cost a lot. I recommend a set of 16" circulars (to be used for knitting hats in the round & other items flat) & 24" circulars (for knitting hats flat & wider flat items). I like wood handles best bec they hold the yarn well, & don't bend or make noise when knitting. Good luck!

Could bernat velvet yarn be used for this pattern?
the 11th round ends in a knit so how do you have a knit to start your next row when you are casting off the first row?
Right????

Why did you switch to straight needles instead of just using a longer circular to begin with?
What size needle is used in the description it says 5.5mm on the pattern it says 6.5mm and what are the multiples for the stitches?
