    I take this as the official definition of bisexuality. By Robyn Ochs: “I call myself bisexual because I acknowledge that I have in myself the potential to be attracted - romantically and/or sexually - to people of more than one gender, not necessarily at the same time, not necessarily in the same way, and not necessarily to the same degree.”

      @UCcFmvhxGYU1EJlp7zlw_3Rw no problem. I was attracted to both men and women since I was 3. My female attraction had first started with Cartoon characters such as Kim Possible, shego, Trixie tang (the fairly odd parents), jazz Fenton and Sam (Danny phantom), kimiko (xiaolin showdown), and Rika (Digimon Tamers), and Yumi and Aelita (Code Lyoko). I had considered my attraction towards female normal growing up but didn't pay much attention to it. I remember staring at girls in elementary and middle school. I remembered flirting with some girls back in 7th grade during P.E. My attraction became stronger once I had entered high school. I honestly don't mind falling for a girl as I do with men. So at that time I had then identified myself as bisexual but as time went by, I then discovered the term Pansexuality a year after graduation and i was like" I guess that could work" as I don't care about who I'm dating. I am also open to date nonbinary individuals. I only see individuals with personalities, with feelings, and with personal lives. I also identified myself as queer. It took years for me to discover myself until high school and after graduation.

      @@jerricawilliams9989 I enjoyed reading comment and I am glad you could discover your sexuality. I am in college right now, but I start questioning my sexuality since high school. Here is the best Omni vs Pan explanation I can think of:
    Imagine a rainbow.
    Pansexual people are fully colourblind. They only see white. And guess what? They love white! So they don’t care about which colour they pick because they can’t see the colour.
    Now Omnisexual people aren’t colourblind and can see and appreciate every colour, and they like all of them! Sometimes, they even have a favourite colour!
    Hope this helps xx

  • @lucialu13

    13:13 says "I'm attracted to people regardless of gender but not just because of their personality" As a Pansexual myself, I'm really glad this point is brought forward as that's exactly how I define Pansexuality. Being gender-blind, as in "gender doesn't play a part when it comes to being attracted to someone" but you can indeed totally feel attracted to someone without knowing much about their personality, or anything at all. It can be just the vibe they give off at first glance, how they present themeselves outside of their gender identities, their aura and presence, their charisma, etc. I also always look into people's eyes to know if I'm attracted to them, as I find them very expressive. I've had experiences in which I don't find someone attractive at first glance/meeting but I do when I get to know their personality and I've also experienced being attracted to someone at first glance/meeting but as I get to know their personality that attraction fades away. I'm personally unlikely to feel attracted to someone whose personality I am aware of and I don't like or vibe with because it shapes how I view them. But for me, you don't need to know peoples personalities to be attracted to them. You can also find someone physically attractive without associating it to their gender identity, therefore remaining gender-blindly attracted. There's nowhere where "beeing attracted to people just because of their personality" is specified as a strictly necessary rule to identify as Pansexual. Pansexuality just means you don't mind about people's gender when beeing attracted to them. That's my view on it, I hope it helps :)

      oh my god. that is so relatable on a fundamental level. im very new to queerness hence the reason im watching this video because ive never actually felt attracted to my own gender before but now i am attracted to this girl at college but its not like that means im attracted to all girls and all the men ive been attracted to werent because they were men, i just liked them as a person and i am sure that i wouldve liked them the same even if they were women or trans or non binary or anything else. its all about the vibes really, because i really dont think about the persons gender when im attracted to them. but its not that all i care about is their personality because im attracted to a girl rn that i dont know much about but imstill very attracted to her. its really confusing honestly

    I think Omnisexual is closest for me, but I don’t have a preference for one gender. I experience my sexuality as attraction to all genders, but gender does influence the way I feel that attraction and how I might approach someone I’m interested in. Like I don’t feel stronger attraction towards one gender, just slightly different attractions towards different genders. Hopefully that makes some sense?

Some guys who like women and nonbinary people will also consider themselves straight; it’s up to personal preference. Also, a person who likes women and nonbinary people would be trixensexual if you want a specific label. Hope that helps 🥰

    Honestly, when I first started identifying with omni, I would get really triggered when it would seem like people that seem to fit the definition of omni identified with something else but now I know that it really just depends on what makes the person comfortable. I eventually found the term omni and started using that to identify with because I didn't feel comfortable with the other labels but if someone else does, then that should be okay too.

    I’m aware this video is a bit old now but I just wanted to mention part of knowing whether you’re bi or Omni can just be about what you’re comfortable with, I identify as bi but could be called either bi or Omni because I have attraction to all people but with a preference for feminine people! The main definitions are obviously the main factors in knowing what you’re sexuality is but if you could fit more than one just go with what you’re comfortable with.

    I recently started coming to terms with being Bisexual. I'm a "masculine" cis-gendered male that likes cis-gendered women and cis gendered "masculine" men. Which is extremely binary. It's strange to me in the journey because with women I get emotionally, mentally, and physically attracted but with men it's usually just physically and sometimes mentally- but with men it never goes beyond a "serious" interest and is short lived and casual. People say I'm just confused, but I genuinely would be happy being polyamorous and bisexual with a cis-gendered bisexual woman and us have an "open" relationship. People say I'm selfish, but it's genuinely how I feel, lately I've shut out women and have gained more interest in "masculine" cis-gendered men physically and with women I have a tendency to fall hard and get scared of the vulnerability I feel with women. Whereas with men it's always just simple and I can easily leave without a thought since I don't see it as a serious connection- it makes me feel conflicted because I feel as though I close off from women and distract myself with casual intimacy with cis-men just to "run away" from that comfort I feel with women and many see it is extremely problematic. Any advice?

  • @lassam333
    @lassam333 3 года назад +1

    Pan is the Greek prefix for all and omni is the Latin prefic for all. I lable myself as pansexual as gender identities don't make any difference for me. I'm attracted to the character of a person and not their gender identity. As far as I understand it pan and omni are just the same.
    As far as I also understand it poly and bi are also the same thing, i.e. attraction to 2 or more gender identities while having certain preferencies regarding the gender identity.
    Don't forget that there could be a difference between romantic and sexual attraction. You could for instance be panromantic and bisexual, which would mean that you're romantically attracted to all gender identities, but you have preferences when it comes to sex.

    • @cece9781
      @cece9781 3 года назад +3

      Pan and omni are not the same. Pansexuality is not based on gender and more personality wise, they cannot have a preference because they like people regardless of gender. Omniexuality is liking all genders with a preference :D
      Poly and bi are not the same because poly can exclude some genders, while bi is attraction to a person of the same gender and opposite gender, meaning it could be anyone outside of the persons gender identity. Hope that helps!!
      any omni, poly, or pan people feel free to correct me :)

    I am attracted to all genders, and I don't have a prefer any genders over the over, but I wouldn't say I'm 'colourblind' because for instance, for women .... I'm not as attracted to 'studs' as I am to femme girls. So, I think that makes me omnisexual. But when I came out to people who aren't in the LGBT community, I say I'm bisexual, since that's the only sexuality out of these four that most of them have heard of.

    I am Bi girl. I might be wrong. Sorry in advance. But I think the trans man who is attracted to women and non-binaries might be Polysexual. because he is attracted to many (not all) gender. Also, Bi means being attracted to same gender and others. But he is a man who is not attracted to men (as trans mem are men are trans women are women). So, I think he might be polysexual.
    Sorry, if I'm way off the topic. I'm too trying to educate myself. Please correct me.

      @@tessamuddle5008 It can take a long, long time for a person to find that out... sexuality and feelings are so complex. We also grow and evolve as people and get to know ourselves as time goes by.
      I myself am bi, 37 years old but have only been in love once, and rarely experience romantic attraction, so I'm still not 100% sure as to which extent I'm bi. Don't know if I could fall in love with a woman, cause it hasn't happened yet.
      I don't mean that these things take a long time to figure out for everybody, but that experience will probably, little by little, start to make things clearer.

      I don't know if it would mean anything if you don't have a crush on the person? It might be just awkward because you don't see them that way and you might mistake it for not being interested in that gender.
      I think about crushes, I have had about 5 crushes and they've been men, enbies and a woman. It was equally strong feelings but different sort of wibes, so I think gender plays a role for me. (Not attracted 'regardless of gender', but because of it and other things) Therefore I think I'm bi.
      If you're young and you just don't have a lot of experience of crushes yet, you don't need to hurry labeling your orientation in them.
      If you've had multiple crushes so far and they've all been same gender, perhaps you could be gay.
