    When I was a kid, I had this problem when I wanted to wear more masculine clothes "boy clothes", but I also hated it 'cause of the way boys acted (mysogeny and stuff) and' til last year I didn't know why I felt that way. I started identifying as nonbinary, but I still felt like something was missing and I had plenty existential crisises and then it came to me that I was genderfluid and now I feel happy with myself. And it really cheers me up that I'm not alone with that.

I try to present myself as androgynous leaning more toward a feminine look. I love wearing tights, LL Bean base layer clothing with short shorts over the base layer tights. My GF is forever fluctuating, but lately mostly feminine. I find masculinity a bit annoying, would rather hang out with females, doing stuff like macrame, etc.

    When I was about 4, in kindergarten, I met this kid whose gender I could not identify. So I asked them. And it took them a looong time to answer. And in that time I myself was questioning it. I pretty much looked like a boy except for my hair. I talked to boys, I did the stuff they did, I competed with them and fought with them (yes, still kindergarten). But I was born a girl. Everyone around me always told me I was one. So I was probably was one. But I didn't feel that way. It made no sense. I knew I was not a boy but I was no girl either. But I decided to go with girl because it was the thing I was familiar with. 8 years later, I experienced the exact same struggle. Just that I then knew about enbies. I am a transmasc non-binary. I want no boobs, no booty, no long hair and no high voice. Flat chest, normal butt, short, messy hair and a deeper voice is what I want. And the fact that it begun so early.
    Same with my Asexuality tho. When I had my first crush (male, still thought I was cishet), I actually tried forcing sexual attraction onto myself. I cringed a few moments later. I excused the fact of a lack of wet dreams with me not yet having hit enough puberty.
    Looking back, it's painful to remember...

    • @alpharebel8917
      @alpharebel8917 3 года назад +9

      I relate too. I was always mistaken for a boy , and I feel very uncomfortable with having lady parts
      But because I have been told that I'm a girl and people around me keep trying to make me "lady like" my tomboy self couldn't handle it . At the age of 3 I was to be in a wedding, but couldn't because I couldn't or didn't want to wear the dress i wasn't & that was the most traumatizing moment I ever experienced being in that dress. They then proceeded to replace me with another girl .
      I'm also asexual I, I don't know what it is with me . Sometimes I feel like I'm crazy because I don't know how to live , one moment I'd dress girly to shut certain people up but I'm more comfortable in my boy sense of style, being a tomboy is just me breathing I don't know how to be a feminine female .
      Sorry for the long response

    I have 1 note though: your spectrums of gender identity, presentation, and sexuality are not entirely accurate. Non-binary does not fall in the middle of masc and fem, the entire point is that it isn't part of the binary at all.

    a friend of mine just came out as genderfluid. i didn’t have the heart to ask her but as i’m learning more this one question still perplexes me. how does a preference in certain types of clothing or activities, or even a feeling, change your gender? isn't it only a change in gender expression? i relate to a lot of your experiences. i’ve had both ”boyish” and "girly" hobbies during my life, never liked dresses or heels (i didn't even like being called a girl as a child), yet i can’t grasp why that would make me a man in any shape. or less of a woman for that matter. aren't we just pushing gender stereotypes, giving in on how certain groups of people are "meant to look like", if these types of things change your identity and make you one gender or another?

    • @col8179
      @col8179 Год назад

      The rest of the world is asking the same question, with no answer. The gender narrative is meant to divide, nothing more. These people are the pawns.

    • @weirdnerdygoat
      @weirdnerdygoat Год назад +3

      that's a debate in the trans community too! :D
      So, the clothing and activities are the gender expression. They're societally related to different genders, because that's how our society worked so far, and therefore because of the societal association it may feel gender affirming to do the societal activities, or you might do them to be viewed more as that gender. (For example wearing masc clothes because you subconsciously want to be viewed as a man for example)
      Of course, societal gender expression doesn't align with everyone's gender, and recently in the trans community there's more and more trans people who don't align with gender stereotypes. However, some people still find comfort in it!
      "A feeling" is basically all there is to gender once you separate it from sex. Gender is a social construct. And most people can feel a feeling of that construct somehow- that IS their gender. Now, if you can't feel that feeling of gender or if it's the same as your gender assigned at birth, it's very difficult to understand this. It's a complex feeling that doesn't really make sense, is indescribable, but is real and important to people. Kind of like romantic love I suppose.
      But yes, the pushing gender stereotypes is a discussion that exists in the trans community. However, overall we have to let people do what's comfortable for them. Luckily there's more and more gender non conforming trans folk (think trans boys in dresses), which kind of equals out the gender stereotypes hopefully!
      sorry if that didn't make sense, feel free to ask for clarification, I am way too tired. Also don't be afraid to ask your friend!

For that reason, I feel proud of being a woman but I was more comfortable with boys.
    Lately, I realized how free I feel when people use "he/him" referring to me; however, I accept "she/ her". Thank you so mucho for this video and to know that I am not alone, I love being genderfluid 💚🌈

    I TOTALLY feel this. All the signs you mentioned are similar to my own experience. I've been going back and forth on using the term genderfluid but the more and more I think about it, it just fits. The thing you specifically mentioned about being attracted to genderfluid people/non binary people/ genderfluid people makes so much sense to me. I remember when I first heard about ruby rose and her gender fluidity and I saw a video of her getting ready and I thought "wow i want to be her but I also would love to be with someone like her". I also found myself loving people like David bowie and Freddy mercury for example who strayed away from the standard way that a AMAB person should dress. Like I remember watching the bohemian rhapsody movie in theaters with my boyfriend at the time and just feeling so attracted to Freddie mercurys essence. There's also this other artist I follow, the band is called Motionless in white. The main singer of the band (his name is chris), he occasionally wears makeup and I always think to myself "holy crap this man is HOT". I think small things like that make me understand myself a little more. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us because I think it helps validate how I feel and helps with getting a better understanding of myself.

    This is so wild to watch. I'm still learning about myself and why I feel how I feel. The childhood part really hit me. I was SO down when my dad told me I couldn't play football with my brothers because I was a girl. I ALWAYS wanted short hair, but my mom didn't let me cut it shorter than my shoulders. When I first found out I was growing into a woman, I thought the buds were literally cancer, but my mom took me to the doctor and he told me I was just growing breasts. Tell me why I was disappointed 😂? I walked out with my head down. Now I'm questioning it all. My go to outfit was cargo pants and my brother's oversized hoodies. I adored skater shoes and fixing my laces like my guy friends.
    Growing up, I think the adult world molded me into what I believed people felt nore comfortable seeing. I'm a girl.... what should a girl do? What do women wear? How do they look? I started to fear standing out. Makeup helped me feel like I could fit in and it has been my real expression for so long now. when I was a youngster, I didn't think twice about it fitting in. I loved my clothes. Now, I am confused every day about how I want to feel and be seen. So much self work goes into this. Thanks for this video ❤

    You are the same as me! I am also happy with all pronouns and it's not something I think of too much. This is why language matters.
    I came from Indonesia where the language is mostly gender neutral and we have one pronouns "DIA" for all human being, and we also have a friendly respectful gender neutral term "kakak" could mean big sis or big bro even though a lot of people use it in feminine way. Coupled with my more "open" upbringing, I never felt the need to think about or even come out as gender fluid (this is a privilege I'm lucky to have, not all Indonesians have this privilege) because I really didnt recognize any other pronouns and never relate pronouns with gender. When I started to learn english, I mix up he/she quite a lot coz I'm not used to identify someone as their gender first, for me the concept of gender comes later after I know the context of who "dia" is as a person. Language is very important indeed!

    I remember some of my childhood memories where I was playing with my sister’s Barbie dolls and how okay I was with it. Then came high school where we had this one event, I can’t remember much of it but one thing I do remember was having hardly any trouble putting on high heels and running in them in front of the school. Then I got introduced to My Little Pony G4 and pretty much became a Brony and then later a low level furry. I’m still a Christian gentleman and identify myself as male and stick with it, I like attractive women but not overly attractive ones nor do I want to get intimate with them (you know what I mean) and sometimes I find myself doing some feminine things like walking in a particular way and posing (only when I know I’m alone and no one will see me) I’m starting to see myself possibly dressing a bit feminine and I have even drawn some pictures of my OC as a female furry and dream myself as one. I’m still sticking to being a guy but the fantasy is not lost on me, I even admitted to my family that I’m possibly non binary and they’re alright with it but with what I’ve written here I don’t know what the exact definition is that describes me. I don’t see a girl as “a girl” I see “just another person” and same with “a guy”

    Thanks for that! Maybe tomboy is what people used to call NB or genderfluid AFAB people. Also, I think being born as a male ii is harder to look androgynous as it's less socially acceptable. I have also thought of MtoF transition but seem to keep coming back to fluidity but not being male or female means people read you as what you were born as, while with trans it is more obvious to those around you what you are identifying as. We are still mainly caught in a binary in the way society views people.

But, the truth is the truth.

    Literally thank you so much omg, I can not express how grateful I am for this video. I was on an identity crisis and didn’t realize how much I related to your points. Everything from not liking to wear too much makeup to seem awfully “feminine” and always being in between the line/not fitting in, but other days wanting to be completely masculine or feminine. I was so confused about my gender and it drove me crazy!

    After about a year of struggling, I have finally come to the conclusion that I am genderfluid. After watching this video, everything that you said just confirms that I am. I have ALWAYS felt different around girls and things that were traditionally associated with girls I absolutely despised (like skirts or the color pink). Even when I was with my ex I sent a picture to him of me in a skirt and a crop top and after I looked at it I realized I didn't like the picture at all and that it didn't look like me. Now I know why. And I've always wanted to be "one of the boys". I loved having guy friends and in elementary school I was always playing with boys. I always thought it was because I was a tomboy but now I realize it was so much more than that. I technically came out to my family (I made a tik tok on it and my family follows me so I know theyll eventually see it) and that should be fun when they find out because my older sister is SUPER transphobic. But I couldn't keep pretending anymore.

    I also feel VERY uncomfortable looking “too feminine” some days!! Am I the only one who REALLY wishes I could grow my own beard?! (as a cis woman)

    dutchy, i love you so much. thank you for putting this out there. cause i literally could never. i always feel really bad correcting people when they use the wrong pronouns for me (they/them). i feel like such a bugger when i do. because obviously we are born into very unrealistic expectations or she/her he/him. so thanks for this. i might try and correct more people respectfully. sorry that’s long. love you!🧡🤍💗
