I’ve done the well bit, and played about 30 minutes after that. I’m not saying it’s not scary, just not any more scary than plenty of the other horror games in VR imo.

I missed the Assasins Creed video off at the beginning, really sorry my bad, you can see more of the game later in the video. It was there just dumbo here forgot to hold Alt Whilst dragging it from the front to later in the video.

The Primax Vr looks like a giant graphics card on your face.
Didn't realize about the view based on the Astro Bot game trailer. I was excited for the game but after listening and rewatching the trailer, I wish it had the same view as Astro Playroom. I may still pick it up cause I love the music.
Hm...I think I know this friend with a gaming pc, PS5, but no PS VR2 >.>;; And yeap, decided to get it before the 'discount' ended today.

I'm really conflicted on Astro. Annoyed it isn't in VR, still want to play it, but then also annoyed at the full on price tag.

I have a BoboVR M3 Pro battery strap and I am very happy with it. They's now a better more expensive version with forehead cooling fans.

I finally gave Asgard's Wrath 2 a quick try since you guys reminded me that I hadn't even installed it yet, and the opening is pretty cool at least. Looks really nice for standalone too, I agree that Red Matter 2 is probably the only comparison. I never played the first Asgard (my eyes glaze over with anything that deals with Norse gods, ancient Egypt gods, Roman, Greek gods, all that stuff, so I've never played a God of War either) but it's cool that the "free" copy of Asgard's Wrath 2 came with a copy of Asgard's Wrath 1 on PCVR included as well. The graphics always looked really nice in the first game!
The intro that catches you up on the story is a neat storytelling device for VR, and it just generally feels so polished. I've barely played the game still, I mainly just downloaded it and hopped in, but I always forget to give it a go until I was listening to this episode of the podcast.

Yes I really must play more of this, I've literally done the tutorial part of the game and that's it. Looking forward to seeing the Quest 3 update. (Lee)

Glad you gave it a go. Even if something like AW2 isn't someone's cup of tea, that intro section alone is definitely worth going through just to see what standalone is capable of.
I've found over the years that some types of game that don't resonate with me on a flat screen can actually be really enjoyable in VR - Eurotruck/American Truck Simulator for example. I couldn't see the appeal of them on a flat screen, but I actually really enjoyed what I played of them in VR. it's definitely worth retrying game types in VR that you otherwise might not like on a flat screen.

I'm negative on Madison too. Just haven't recorded a podcast about it yet. I beat it. You get attacked toward the end, but it sucks. Nothing like an RE or Propagation game.

I bought PSVR2 boxed version a few days ago because the Virtual Strangers guys said it's one of the best VR games they've ever played and one of them is a horror connoisseur. Looks like I was bamboozled.

It does help to play in the dark with an IR illuminator. 😊 If you haven't been attacked or died you haven't played through it all yet.
I think Alien isolation works because maybe it digs into things you were maybe scared of as a child. I mean I watched Alien on video when I was too young!

I think on the PSVR2 features being restricted on PC, is that simply there is no driver/API. The release details on the adapter mentioned SteamVR specifically. That there alone puts it into Valve's court to implement HDR, HMD haptics, Adaptive Triggers, etc. Sony's adaptive triggers for the DualSense on PC does work if the game supports it. I think for it to work for VR, the API and the game will have to support it.
Regarding Eye Tracking and OpenVR, unless Sony specifically blocks it, again SteamVR doesn't support it. With other PCVR headsets that has Eye Tracking you have to use Open XR, and we do not yet know if PSVR2 will be able to use OpenXR initially. I'd think that if Sony went out of their way to block eye-tracking that it would have been so for licensing purposes.
edit: When I say "SteamVR" I'm referring to Valve's OpenVR API. Using OpenXR through Steam isn't the same.

    • @ImmersedRobot
      @ImmersedRobot 2 месяца назад

With the eye-tracking, Pimax does have direct OpenVR integration to enable universal support. It won't work in everything, but that's due to specific issues with shaders/post-processing for specific games as far as I'm aware. I assume this is due to the Pimax software injecting it, but presumably this could be a way for modders to also do the same for the PS VR2?
Regarding the OpenXR side of things, yes, I see your point about the PSVR2 requiring direct OpenXR support for something like OpenXR Toolkit to enable it. I hadn't thought about that fully before, but it seems unlikely Sony would go beyond the minimal possible effort to simply make it compatible with SteamVR and leave it at that. Everything in their blog post seems to imply this also.

@@ImmersedRobot I guess, and this is the part that I'm ignorant of, would Sony need to do anything to make it work with OpenXR, or would/could OpenXR developers just do it themselves?

Haven't listened yet, will during my commute tomorrow. Just wanted to comment, whether or not it was intentional, that in the episode thumbnail looks like astrobot trying to hump a PS5 controller-- clearly hinting at it's preference for it over the sense controllers.

F*ck Sony and Asobi for snubbing PSVR2! Astro Bot was born in PSVR not PS5. PSVR2 owners deserves a VR Astro Bot game not just for PS5 players but for all of us!!
