I think ghouls desire to become humans again makes more sense in context of first game, when they could barely walk, their bodies were falling apart and they slowly go into insanity. Now been a ghoul just makes you ugly and immortal, plus apperently you don't need to eat or drink anymore.
@Peach Papaya u could say that ghouls need air mabye he packed food bc he likes food and died from specifically the lack of air. Even in newer Fallouts they need to breathe as the Ghouls that go up in the ships need space suits
Fallout 3 and 4 and sadly even New Vegas (though I still love the game) have really ruined ghouls, specifically pre-war ghouls. In the first two games a pre-war ghoul was exceedingly rare and had mystique and wonder surrounding them, now there's so many that there's absolutely nothing special about meeting one.
Fun fact about the Mutants Rising mod: One of its talking heads was used for John Cassidy in the Fallout 2 Restoration Project, and it fooled a lot of people, and most notably the Cutting Room Floor wiki and the Fallout fan wiki, into thinking it was an official talking head that went unused. And then the design become somewhat official when it was used as the basis for his character card in the official Fallout board game, alongside other cards based on Fallout 1 and 2 companions.
I think this is no mystery. Between 90's collapse and modern day autocracy, many... probably most of us Russians feel like our lives are ruined, so we try to overcome this by playing grim post-apocalyptic games like Fallout or Dystopian like Beholder. Also nostalgia is a huge factor in all of this course for many growing-up 90's kids Fallout is also "game of the childhood" and thus "reminder of simplier times".
For me 90s felt kinda postapocalyptic. No nostalgia, though. While we harvested fun from any piece of junk we could find and dismantle, while walking through never finished construction sets, 90s sucked hard, unless you were rich kid from a big city.

35:15 The Rebirth ending is kinda disappointing and brief all things considered. U can join up with the Saviour again and in a cutscene it reveals with your inside knowledge of Albuquerque’s defence, u and the ghouls penetrate the defences and capture tons of humans, but as a result a stray bullet kills u in the process. The Saviour then declares the 13th Reborn as a war hero amongst the Rebirth, and the Rebirth with its supply of humans becomes such a force of power that they end up clashing with the NCR years later. Anyway awesome review, now all that’s left is FO Nevada
Resurection does kind of botch its end-twist from just how rushed and abrupt it is, but I find it thematically puissant. The Mutant Hunter's create an genocidal Nazi-esque society. Yet that very same ideology eventually spreads to the very population they're attempting to exterminate (in a very literal way since the Ghouls leader is an deranged ex-Hunter). The Ghoul ideology is a lot more Messianic in its character... yet fundementally it enables them to organize militarily on a grand scale and seriously threaten humanity. This turns an already bloody racial conflict downright infernal in its scope. Its a nice twist on the old: "evil only creates more evil" idea. I also think that the Hunter/Ghoul conflict gave Resurection a very strong central-core which, say, Nevada lacked. Personally, one of my favorite parts of the mod was the relationship between the Imperial City and the Mutant Hunters, which barely gets mentioned in this vid. The Imperial companion-character's plotline is even more abrupt than the main plotline though. You're tasked with finding her hero-brother who mysteriously walked out into the wasteland for some reason and then... well, he's dead! No grand mystery there he's just dead! :D
The main plotline being so fucking abrupt was really surprising. They just straight up told instead of showing, about 80% of what is going on in your personal story, all in one go.

Gonna say this mod doesn't hold its punches in the darkness department, racism, child murder/rape, genocide. I argue at times it's a little darker than Fallout 1 defiantly 2. Hell, the ending is more depressing than Fallout 1, at least the Vault Dweller founded a village in the end. This feels like a painful transition from 1 to 2.
I'd say darker than both. In Fallout they still had to deal with public cenorship- here it's not the case. Stuff like rape, sexual coercion, child abuse and murder, genocidal racism and many others would not go through even in Fo1. Fallout 1 was bleak, but this thing is just straight up vile. Your reviews are a real blessing. I'm capable of deep immersion into the entertainment piece, but a rare one holds much depth or is engaging enough for my ADHD brain to really enjoy. Yours are something that makes me fully immersed into the game and world you present. Great video once again. Btw, have you heard of Death Trash? It seems relevant given the games you're interested in, although not yet finished. I would describe it as real-time Fallout 1? It feels similar to how I remember Fallout anyways. Except for combat ofcourse.
I've left a comment before about your output but i seriously can't get over it. Every time I get the notification i'm floored. Do you, like, time travel or something? The video is great btw, makes it even more nutso bonkers. Looking forward to when you review mods that haven't even been started by their developers yet
Incredible video as always. I've been meaning to check out this mod ever since the english translation came out but never could find the time. Might finally give it a spin after seeing you and ramblelime cover it. The Jagged Alliance 2 mention warmed my heart. Would love to see a video on it as it stands with Fallout 1/2 as a cherished part of my childhood and is one of a handful of games I constantly revisit.
Oh boy, another one already? As for builds that cheese the game? I think they can have their own kind of fun for a play through…I don’t use them all the time, but sometimes it’s just fun to wreck game systems for the lulz. Given your fondness for Morrowind, I figured you’d probably sometimes engage in it as well lol
Great mod, the only bad thing I remember about it is the main villan, this guy almost killed climax of the game for me. I mean, seriously, mutant hunter that went crazy and decided to end all mutation by killing everyone who didn't get mutated? This is some Bethesda quality writting and main plot before that revelation was quite good, better then Nevada or Olympus at least.
I got pretty dissapointed when I was revealed to be a ghoul and more so when the ending suggests that I want to kill myself. But until then, the main quest was great.
@@demonspawn5164 I actually like this ending, it's nice call back to depressing end of F1, plus game already tells you that you have only few months to live, so it wasn't surprise for me.
I played this mod twice all the way through. In my opinion, it belongs on the shelf with 1 and 2. Fantastic. Just. Fucking. Great. As a bonus, it also has probably the worst and most shocking evil roleplay options I have ever seen, in any game, period.
Ugh, the one in the first town... And that's just the tip of the iceberg. But yeah- it's not grimderp. It's how things would work in a post apo world, as realistic as the Threads movie- callous, vile and disgusting... If you choose to become such a character.
I love the style of your play where sometimes you say screw this I hate this town or this person and just kill them or leave and it leaves content undiscovered for those that may play it in the future. The normal approach would be some perfect playthrough featuring all content and I think this is a really interesting approach and also closer to what a normal playthrough would look like
I’m sad there’s only a few more fallout mod videos of yours to get through, these have become my new favorite thing on RUclips and I hope you continue making them!
Finally some love for Fallout 1.5! This mod is criminally underrated. Hell, it's not even a mod- it's a full game and a work of love. If kids were raised with this much love and thought, the Earth would be a paradise! Just go and play it if you haven't, fellow viewer- they don't make them like this these days. Oh and it's dark. Very dark. And hard- though if you're a hardcore Fallout player, you won't have trouble with it.
Honestly it's kind of incredible that this channel isn't more well known, this is just all around high quality content with nothing to complain about, your Deus Ex playthrough was just brilliant and every other video on this channel doesn't fail to deliver. I hope more people subscribe to you, because you really deserve it. Godspeed!
The thing that really enjoyed in F1.5 was the interaction between companion. That was Fallout New Vegas-Tier of developement. You could ask them about recent events, they have thier own quest and even argue with each other. I had a few such encounters between Katja and Lystra.
Sounds like this has what I consider to be the perfect rpg combat balance. A constant fear of death in nearly every encounter but a clear way for the player to navigate the combat if they play their cards right.
Another quality video for another quality mod. I'd say that it's the most high quality mod for FO2 available in English right now, in terms of pacing and gameplay however the larger projects you've covered that come from the East make this pale in comparison. Nevertheless when I first played it it was a nice breath of fresh air
@9:44, There are just as many bandits in Fallout 4, which was made on the same engine as Skyrim. Hmmm. This engine reminds me of the original Age of Empires. I never saw Fallout 1 or 2 or any of this back in the 90's I do remember a friend having Wasteland back in the late 80's though. Very interesting and informative review. I also liked your Fallout Sonora review.
I never felt like playing Fallout before, let alone the 1st and 2nd ones, but man I just love seeing your videos on Fallout mods. Keep up the great work!
Great video as usual, love your Fallout stuff. The frog-snake joke was perfect for the techno xenophobes fighting somewhat underwritten kidnappers. I wonder how much of story content was cut by mod developers purely out of scripting/mapping complexity, unwillingness to spend too much extra time on all of that, and, really, late understanding of boundaries of the project. Like a real year for an extra location and 30-60 minutes of story in the late game (with even bigger boss and the proper motivation behind the Cult of course) probably isn't worth it. At least we have a finished mod, and not just another "wow, we've already burned out every scripter in our team and entire community, and we are only 14 years in and 36% complete". On a different note, regarding post credit scene rant: our daddy taught us not to be ashamed of our haircuts. Especially since they're such good size and all.
I love your fallout commentaries like the slavs love their post apocalyptic hellscapes. I'm glad these are getting through the language barrier and getting exposure.
I had no idea that there was even a fallout 1 and 2 modding community before your videos, let alone these ambitious full conversions. Thanks for making these videos
Man Im so glad I've found your channel. Im glad you're doing those loooong videos because I will never play those games and this way I know the plot and what's that!
I'm so happy to see Fallout games where the ghouls are their own factions with their own goals and not just set dressing in 3 or 4. It makes a lot of sense to me that in a game where life would be short from radiation and starvation people would flock to someone from the old world who literally has not died, just out of the forlorn hope they could somehow achieve that too. Like the Master, but if they were powerful simply because they knew how humans worked and used it to their advantage.
Yeah, Bethesda is kinda flat with their sandbox. One of my favorite places to visit in New Vegas is Jacobstown. Seeing a thriving community of super mutants that is just there, doing it's business, not harming anyone. Just being another village. And meeting Marcus again. And a ghoul faction absolutely makes sense. looked down up in many places they would decide to create their own place, with their own goals.
Was waiting for you to cover this mod. Honestly, judging by the popularity and release date it should've been one the first to get a review. Anyway, great video as always. Personally, I've stumbled upon this mod after Nevada (the old 0.90-ish versions with one of the more ridicilous iterations of it's plot and other weird stuff that was later put into chaos build of the mod) and it felt a tad luckluster. Atmosphere was definitely closer to F1 but alas it just wasn't my cup of tea.
Great video as always man, keep the content coming. Really enjoyed the Dues Ex video too, I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to make such a long video but it was an awesome watch.
Oh god I miss JA2 so badly. It just has this perfect je ne sais quois to it that makes it work so well and all the other tactical turn based rpgs lack. Video on JA2(1.13) when?
31:35 I recommend tweaking sfall settings to increase the speed of the game in those super long fights, especially if they're hard and you might reload a couple of times.
Digging your videos. Worked at Toys R Us in the late 90s. Got Fallout and Jagged Alliance 2 there. Brings back memories. Lived in Moscow in the early 90s. I could see where they got their love of Fallout.
Love the videos man. You've put me on to quite a few mods I never would have given the time to as so many seem shallow and empty, i usually brush over these types in favor of just modding vanilla gameplay. On an semi-related note, I'd love to see a video from you regarding The Nameless Mod for Deus Ex. I played it through back in 2012 or so and have vague but fond memories of well-designed levels and fun missions all in a unique world. I'd love to see a deep dive video in your style and see if it meshes with my memories of playing. Thanks for the great content!

Except for combat ofcourse.
your channel output has been super consistent and you somehow manage to combine memes, RL lore and memes together, really appreciate all your efforts
Love the little Grim Fandango clip during the gambling section, great game.
"On second thought, stay away from my roulette tables.."
I've left a comment before about your output but i seriously can't get over it. Every time I get the notification i'm floored. Do you, like, time travel or something?
The video is great btw, makes it even more nutso bonkers. Looking forward to when you review mods that haven't even been started by their developers yet
Time travel? that would explain a lot!
i think
Incredible video as always. I've been meaning to check out this mod ever since the english translation came out but never could find the time. Might finally give it a spin after seeing you and ramblelime cover it.
The Jagged Alliance 2 mention warmed my heart. Would love to see a video on it as it stands with Fallout 1/2 as a cherished part of my childhood and is one of a handful of games I constantly revisit.
I managed to discover your channel and then watch all of your videos in the span of two days. I’m in awe of your work! Thank you!
They called you crazy for a gambling build but man you came out on top there, great video.
Only monsters dont reload a save when the doggo dies.
It breaks immersion
Not the freaking hecking pupperino!!!

You talking about that evil thing you do helping the shopkeeper in albercerque?
@@kruzem1233 yea. Its so bad even I didn't go all the way through with it.
@@alexlindstrom9971 what is the thing you do? I want complete spoilers
@@RogueMoss Commenting cause I'd like to know as well
I love the style of your play where sometimes you say screw this I hate this town or this person and just kill them or leave and it leaves content undiscovered for those that may play it in the future. The normal approach would be some perfect playthrough featuring all content and I think this is a really interesting approach and also closer to what a normal playthrough would look like
When I saw your short the other day of the gambling I knew your video was going to be different! Great video
I’m sad there’s only a few more fallout mod videos of yours to get through, these have become my new favorite thing on RUclips and I hope you continue making them!
As a Czech, I can confirm this is what a normal day in Ostrava feels like.
Banik pyco!
I was in Wałbrzych once on a way to Czech Republic in 2014. It looked like a fallout town.
Love your content man!
Eh, I feel Fallout Sonora is more deserving of that title.
Honestly it's kind of incredible that this channel isn't more well known, this is just all around high quality content with nothing to complain about, your Deus Ex playthrough was just brilliant and every other video on this channel doesn't fail to deliver. I hope more people subscribe to you, because you really deserve it. Godspeed!
All these vids of yours have me replaying the classic Fallout games. Thanks for that
babe wake up warlocracy uploaded a fallout video
not a fan of this meme
The thing that really enjoyed in F1.5 was the interaction between companion. That was Fallout New Vegas-Tier of developement. You could ask them about recent events, they have thier own quest and even argue with each other. I had a few such encounters between Katja and Lystra.
The kind of stuff that gives the world and the people depth and a level of realism.
Always super excited to see these notifications! And it takes place in my home state of New Mexico! Double win :D
Sounds like this has what I consider to be the perfect rpg combat balance. A constant fear of death in nearly every encounter but a clear way for the player to navigate the combat if they play their cards right.
That is the right balancing. Offering a challenge, but a fair one.
Another quality video for another quality mod. I'd say that it's the most high quality mod for FO2 available in English right now, in terms of pacing and gameplay however the larger projects you've covered that come from the East make this pale in comparison.
Nevertheless when I first played it it was a nice breath of fresh air
1:13 Hilarious you picked Jan because I am born in sweden but to a czech dad and slovakian mom and my middle name is Jan.
Amazing video as always man
"A Sochi toilet" made me laugh out hysterically, love the uniqueness of your references
Thank you for posting again an super amazing video! Always makes my day and night better. Love your relaxing voice.
underrated channel just based off this 1 vid, quality content too.
u earned a sub , keep that effort up.
Love you videos man. Keep em coming. No matter the length I'll watch the whole thing.
recently discovered your channel and watched all of the videos its so cool to see you update the day i finished your last video
I really enjoy your video essays. You explain your thought processes really clearly.
It is really good to see such high quality content once in a two or so week. Glad the channel is doing good. Thanks for all your works!
I am soooo glad I found your channel. It's truly a hidden gem.
Your videos are soo soothing for my Adhd mind god bless you fam
Everytime I have an essay, I put your videos as background noise, then, I replay it on repeat
17:49 *Jagged Alliance 2. Probably the only pc game I played through as many times as and loved as much as the original 2 Fallout games.

Warlockcracy... Warlockcracy please don’t ever change 😊
Always a good day when you upload, especially Fallout content. You're doing Atom's work, brother. Keep it up.
A new Warlockracy video already? Hell yeah.
Your content is always so quality, thanks for more
I love these vids. Im so glad i stumbled onto this channel i watch these things all the time quality content
God I love these videos and your voice. Keep making them and ill keep watching them.
Another awesome video, thanks for the work you do and for giving such great focus to user created content.
Nothing makes me happier than when I see an upload from you.
I can't believe I overlooked your channel before, you're hilarious
Clicked immediately when I saw you uploaded, awesome stuff as always!
love these vids, i'm pretty sure ive watched them all, happy there is a new one
Man i love your channel, like you easily make the best videos about neiche or unaccesable mods
Ja2, Age of Decadence and Fallout Tactics reference in one video. A man of elevated culture indeed.
All of these FO1/2 mods look great. Wish I could say the same about the FO13 projects for Space Station 13.
Great video as always man, keep the content coming. Really enjoyed the Dues Ex video too, I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to make such a long video but it was an awesome watch.
You're fast becoming my favorite uploader, dude.
More precise translation of that Russian saying would be "A Toad fucked (was fucking literally) a Viper"
very late to the comments but I've never heard anybody else reference the Jagged Alliance games before, thanks for the memory recall.
What the actual hell, I missed this channel completely and thought you have abandoned youtube completely. Feeling blessed right now.
I love how your channel specifized to impresive mods made for old games and I hope you will a video about the nameless mod made for deus ex
You need alot more subs dude. Such great content
I love your channel. Your voice is relaxing.
Oh god I miss JA2 so badly. It just has this perfect je ne sais quois to it that makes it work so well and all the other tactical turn based rpgs lack. Video on JA2(1.13) when?
Second that. There are plenty of JA2 mods to choose from.
I'm Czech and this looks really like a fun mod never heard of it tho
Another day, another Warlockracy must-watch.
Started and finished the game about a week ago and picking the energy weapon skill was your BEST decision in the whole game

I recommend tweaking sfall settings to increase the speed of the game in those super long fights, especially if they're hard and you might reload a couple of times.
I can't do this because the goofy fast animations might conflict with the narrative of the video.
@@Warlockracy Yeah, you're right. Feels good to be a content consumer - no need to worry about presentation, take all the shortcuts all the time.
The mods name is Resurrection and you start in a cave. I’m beginning to see a theme.
My brain immediately: Holy shit he’s Fallout Jesus
Fallout Jesus vs the Chosen One, who is more powerful and who has the bigger prophecy
Thanks for your hard work, sir, it's nice fun vid.

LETS FUCKING GO. These videos literally bring a phat smile on my face.
babe wake up, new warlockracy vid
Awesome review always excited to see them!
I love your humour. Thank you for the laughs.
Glad to see more videos from you and glad I’ve found this channel
Спасибо за труд :)
