Just got my Razorback. Regarding CG: I weighed the various size Spektrum G2 batteries I have, and found an option that CGs out nicely.
The 3S/2200/30c weighs 6.08oz. I found the plane still tail-heavy with a 4S/3200/50c, which weighs 11.06oz. So..... by using TWO of the 3S/2200/30c batteries and a parallel adapter, it CG's great with them against the firewall, at 70! Combined 3S weight of 12.16oz is 1.08oz heavier than a 4S/3200/50c, but 3cm shorter, so the weight is further forward than you can get with the 4S. And the two 3S batteries side-by-side on edge, fits the cavity in the plane PERFECTLY. I'm only interested in scale flying, so, I'm gonna go with the dual 3S/2200's in parallel. At least... to start!
This is a fantastic plane, so glad they brought it back. It's a great flyer, and it has an amazing presence in the air. Would love to see one in the 1.5m size class.
Me too, but we already have access to this right now ;) bprc.me/P47 (just look for the FMS 1.5m at Horizon Hobby OR here, if it's out of stock bprc.me/FMS_P47 )
I just got one. I had the old ParkZone version years ago, It flies well but is a powerhog
Thank You sooo much for this video Brian. I finally got to maiden my P-47 over the weekend and the wind here in NC was a steady 25mph . Most exciting maiden ive ever had. Didnt use safe but the as3x was working over time. LOL This is my first electric and my first 2.4 radio which is a new NX8 which if not for the video I would still be lost with it. Youre videos are awesome and such a big help.
Thanks again
Thanks Brian and cameracrew for reviewing this beauty. Bought it really cheap after watching the unboxing, built and flight reviews. Could not see any carbon in the wing though. Should be there I think. Tomorrow will do the build myself. Thanks for all the tips.
That isn't real easy to see, since it's painted with opaque silver and invasion stripes on the bottom if I remember correctly...
Are you asking if there's a wing joiner?
No, that’s not what I ment. Just curious how they got the tube in the foam. It will be there I suspect.
is this easier to land than the p-51 cripes 1.2?
Great video. Love the detail you go thru and radio set up. Still learning with a new radio and plane!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks
They've added so many upgrades to make this flyer an incredible warbird ! HAPPY FLYING !
What upgrades? It had safe and as3x before.
Only just a larger ESC, and SMART upgrades in the Rx and ESC, but other than that, it's the same. Great plane didn't need a lot of changes, but would have been NICE to see some LED's!!!! ;)
Thank you for the setup information. Most helpful instruction I have ever received. New to the sport of R/C. Setup and transmitter settings is a lot of info all at once.
I've picked one up today and watched several videos, I cannot get it to CG on the 65-68 marks from the wing root, yes I'm doing it with the gear up and with the plane inverted marks on top of the wings. I've tried 4S 2200, 4S 2800 (SMC) and 4S 3300! Brian Phillips build video shows the same thing tail heavy on the CG marks and RC Geeks older video he moved the CG back to 68-70. One person said it required several clicks of elevator trim to make it fly level.... Wondering if you have any insite, I've considered adding weight but I'm seeing almost 2 oz needed with the 4S 3000 and that seems excessive.
I love the look of this plane, probably one of my favorites. Unfortunately I'm still new to flying, I've been flying those little 400mm toy planes for a while and have gotten pretty good at orientation and landing them. I want to graduate up to something bigger but I'm a little intimidated to do so.
Take your time. Enjoy every bit of the learning process. You will ALWAYS be learning as a pilot.
You will get there, and YOU CAN DO IT!
That is so funny, I thought of the Christmas Poo too when I saw the nose art. "Mr Hankey the Christmas Jug, he loves me, I love you, therefore, vicariously he loves you!" I might have to buy one of these, I wonder where I should look for a link? 😉
bprc.me/P47 - you are too good!
I would have your basement semi-finished just enough to have a perfect RC channel room. You have a nice house!
I had to order this on amazon due to backorder at Horizon
Thanks!
Looking at this as my next addition, thank you.
Beautiful video. I am currently preparing the Razorback 1.2m BNF for flight. I use the same battery as the ones in the video (SPMX324S50). If I measure the given values from the root of the leading edge exactly as it is in the manual, even with the full stop of the accumulator I do not reach the center of gravity and I am still very heavy on the tail. How did you solve this please? I saw in the video that you don't measure it with a caliper all the way from the root. As a beginner, could you please measure the distance of the center of gravity from the first clearance behind the leading edge? I would be very grateful. I can't imagine importing it to a 2200mAh 3S 50C.
Brian ,ot sure this possible, I bound the plane razorback, it came out like this Landing gear up and down was on A, the Flaps were on D, can I put both on one switchh so when I activate landing flaps the landing gear would come dome too.
What's the deal on setting that Braking element in the Avian ESC programming? E-flite instructions for thrust reverse say to set it at 7. (See Twin Timber Manual). That works good on the Twimber. You appeared to whisper about it then intentionally left it at zero. So... What's the deal?
I don't like the breaking effect, but it's supposed to PREPARE the motor for reversing...but also stops the prop from tractoring (free spinning) on final, thus bringing in the plane hotter than you might otherwise want.
Ok ive had mine for over 3 years lol and thos video has me finally opening the box and setting it up.
Im struggling so much to get the safe select to work. All other systems are working perfectly. Any ideas?
Disregard that question I've finally got it set and working on the right switch.
I can't wait to maiden it!
NICE! Glad you could beat me to the chase ;) Good luck on your maiden!!!
the stars go the wheels
YES!
@@BrianPhillipsRC ok
You need to do an eflite payload release system install video on this plane.
That would be fun!
How come you never use the BNF file for transmitter setup
We want to teach people how to do it. If you can figure out how to download a BNF profile, that's all fine and dandy, but you still need to know how to use it, what switches are assigned were, and on that point - horizon doesn't use the switched the same way I do - LOL - so this helps us all learn how to meet our needs, setting up a profile ourselves.
I've always been of the mindset, if you're going to invest the time to learn what to do, might as well really learn how to do it, and not just get it done. There's definitely a time and place for "getting it done" - like when you crash a plane at a club, and want to get up in the air QUICK with something new, or at a special event, but other than those situations, I find it strange that setting up a new model in 5-10 minutes is such a huge deal. I can do this off camera on a "simple" plane like this in 5-10 minutes, including binding, and testing surfaces. It's not all that hard, but we aim to get others up to speed on doing it, and I can say from personal experience with a lot more than just RC planes...doing it a few times, then working without help will get 80-90% of the people watching "up to speed" - then they don't need us, but hope they'll still want to see what's happening from time to time on our channel.
Hope this makes sense, and thanks for the question!
I used zap 5 minute epoxy on my V900's horizontal stabilizer.
nice!
At first I thought that was Mr Hanky 😅
Mr Hankey - the Christmas Poo? YEP - exactamundo !!!
At least they could have changed the livery.
I only don't care for the Mr Hankey part, the rest is good, I thought. If they change livery, the supplier won't make replacement parts anymore!!! (pretty ridiculous, right?!?!?)
Now I know Down Write where they got their logo
What are you talking about?
@@BrianPhillipsRC There is a plumbing company, and that's logo
Again re-release
Yes, and I've never been more happy about a Re-Release!!!! Loved this plane, and never got my hands on one till now - Thank God they did!!!
If you buy enough Eflight planes you WILL get a bad servo.A servo that does not work correctly and also will not center.
I've had one, DOA - we covered it way back when, on a Spitfire. Since then, none from HH, but we've had a number fail through some crashes, from time to time as well from all MFG'ers
Love how that is now considered a "build". No offense... but its foam.
Sorry heard the whisper so I just wanna say f breast cancer!
Not sure what you're referring too, but yeah, F- Breast Cancer. I lost my mom to breast cancer at 10 years old
@BrianPhillipsRC during the video you said very quietly that you lost your mom to breast cancer and that part triggered a f breast cancer moment. My bad that it seemed weird.
Has anyone else noticed due to the tensions with China We no longer have e d f jet releases? All warbird propeller planes. Regurgitated airplanes. So boring
Not true. It's just a timing thing. Sorry Carlos. There's been a lot of EDF's announced, but just not our partners ;)
Xfly just released the T7A 80mm and B1B bomber. FMS the and SU-27/J11 70mm and 70mm Viper. Freewing the Eurofighter and Couger. What more do you want?
Brian, I didn’t hear anything discussing reverse thrust. I’m reading in the manual that you can’t setup Safe on Aux2 like normal, because Reverse Thrust is set for Aux2.
