Im not critiquing just adding some commentary that in an Imanari roll you want your legs below the opponents knee which did not happen, I know this guy is a legit JJ practictioner so he already knows that and even above the knee he’d probably lay my ass out but when you go against an IMS in Sambo you gotta go below the knee with the Imanari roll

The cousin of BJJ. Since the japanese guy who inttroduced judo to Brasil training the Gracies was from the same school of the japanese who took judo to russia inn a time when japan were sending people arround the world to teach japanese martial arts. In brasil they focused on fighting on the ground and it became BJJ, while in russia they mixted it with mongolian Wrestling and it became Sambo.
Also BJJ was meant to be a self defense art while sambo at the time was for the military, the opposite of self defense, and that is why they always focus on staying stand or being on top as seen in thee video.

I guess there's a difference between easily defeating, pretty much anyone in a street fight, as opposed to defeating a Sambo World Champ. Fight training is a never ending study. We learn our weaknesses then learn the remedy. Me personally, I just hope to one day achieve what Jeff Chan has.

I practiced sambo because of men like this. My first time rolling I was 11 and it was the same he did not hold back. Foot stomps, hip tosses and everything. That moment I knew I would do this forever.
