- Bizet's beloved "Les Pechêurs de Perles" ("The Pearl Fishers") opens at the Metropolitan Opera on December 31, and this exclusive sneak preview offers an inside look into the new production.
Met Opera stars Matthew Polenzani, tenor, Hyung Yun, baritone and Howard Watkins, piano perform.
Stunningly beautiful! Love tthese men's rendition...
The voices, the music touch raw nerves which lift you to an emotional plateau which you want to last forever.
I don't think there is a more beautiful piece of music for two such heavenly voices than this duet. I love it deeply.
Awesome, thank you! I love this song! It's so emotional. The singers and the musician are perfect! Music is so heart - healing and brings people together! Have a good day! 🙂
The baritone is beautiful and expressive.
wonderful . . . this piece always gives me chills . . . lovely rendition.
Possibly the best balance and blend of voices that I have ever heard performing this duet
@@davidwolff4853 Of course, you are totally speaking for me, yet give the young baritone some credit.
Beautiful!!
You won't get a better or more lyrical version in the world than this!
Hello Scientist. You wrote there is no better or lyrical performance of this duet. You might reconsider when hearing these two performances. The first is sung by Bjorling and Merrill: ruclips.net/video/5PYt2HlBuyI/видео.html. The second is second is sung by Pavarotti and Ghiaurov: ruclips.net/video/hVR2hkGtKmw/видео.html. There is not right or wrong in preferences. I simply share for your enjoyment.
Beautiful duet with a truly magnificent piano accompaniment. Well done
And so say I! But enough of these Bjorling-Merrill wine-tasting snobs who can't or won't appreciate ANY attempt outside of their teeny, pinched frames of reference. Buncha 'effin' dyspepsic killjoys, y'all :)
Tenor has a good placement and beautiful and pleasant voice.
the tenor is almost high into counter tenor, it is not easy to match his high tune...
He is probably the best Lyric Tenor in the world!
@@rationalsceptic7634 Best of all time? It is too wide and too big title,
@@道-p2e
In the world...not of all time..his Rivals are either heroic or spinto..not as Lyrical or sweet
@@rationalsceptic7634 Thank you for getting back, you mean currently on stage, that makes more sense. Either way, I believe this is far cry from the past, no need to mention the 50's Jussi /Robert Merrill, but just in the 1990's, Jerry Hadley and Allan Titus...I am not feeling so good at current House.

Прекрасен дует, вълшебни гласове!
My Teacher Miss Botti Is Teaching Me That Aria
Not aria but duett !
Who is this terrific baritone?
+djcarno And he blends so beautifully with Polenzani, whose tenor voice was made for this role. Judging from the forcefulness of Hyung Yun's voice in other baritone roles and the tender expressiveness of this performance, what vocal versatility he displays!
Hyung Yum is the baritone.
Shit we missed!!
story: They are secret lovers and the tenor thinks they wont be together anymore coz the baritone might have feelings for the priestess but the baritone they will always be together.
You mean it isn't a love duet between two guys.......(ie The Hunger)
Not correct. This is not about love between the tenor and baritone. Rather the tenor and baritone love the same woman.
excellent
I wish the temor has a bit more scuro.
No es un caraoke
Hadley and Titus much preferred.
Don’t forget Bjoerling & Merrill!!
I think I like Sol3 Mios version more.
orchestral accompaniment is what concieved by the composer. Anything less than that is just a joketo me
Good to know. Off you trot then, your royal highness.
Pitiful. These voices simply do not blend together. Two totally different styles that destroyed this beautiful masterpiece.
Douglas Chemaly Disagree.
I also disagree
I agree...I can do it better.
Neal, no you can't. I also do not think these voices blend well, and the baritone is not what I would expect from the Metropolitan opera, but you are not a better singer than either of these men.
No, this is an excellent performance, only a sourpuss woul fail to enjoy. And Yun is a rich, disciplined baritone... though I haven't heard him live or in a major role, like Germont, so I cant tell about his top.
In my opinion, it's a poor imitation of Mozart's works . Especially from Così fan tutte .
