    Rather than to criticize either of these two amazing singers, I think one should appreciate the fact these two singers are alive in our lifetime and were able to perform together. Performances like this are very rare. And very amazing!

      Personal opinion. Boc lacks nothing in power. He's being kind and respectful listen to his version of this with the getting better with age Domingo. My god can he hold his own. I'm not even a Boc number one fan. But damn if he doesn't respect the music and the director first. Plus blind. He's holding back and one can hear it. It's an amazing bit of grace. But I appreciate your take.

    And this is why they are both elite in the field. When Andrea reached over and grabbed Terfel's arm...that is called passion. That's what determines how far you are willing to take the dream. Magnificent.

      The grabbing of the arm is part of acting the words of the duet. The two singers in the opera both fall for the goddess, and at the last minute (the last few bars of this duet), come back from the brink and swear to be love each other as brothers, until death. It might of course contain passion, but the clasping of each others' arms is also part of the action needed for the duet.

    "A mismatch"? These are two very different characters in an opera, stunned and enthralled by beauty, almost drunk in their amazement that crowds of people worship this girl; They are having a conversation, sometimes separately, and interrupting each other, sometimes talking over one another, then resolving into a sublime duet. This is so masterfully done, by two brilliant artists, that it is moving and energetic. It is not bland, yet the tones are true in every sound.

    Incredibly beautiful duet, sung by these two & very emotive. It is the pathos in Andrea Bocelli's voice that always catches at my heart strings. I always know it's Bocelli singing because he has such a distinctive tone and quality to his voice. Bryn Terfel is magnificent and has such power and command. Both are pure magic here. I'm no opera expert but I know what I like and wouldn't want to know and understand all the technicalities of opera singing as would spoil it for me. In this case, "If ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise"

Among the men his considered among the most powerful. There are sopranos and a few tenors who can compete with him but not many. He is a true gentleman. My biggest complaint (other than the fact that Bocelli isn't an opera singer) is that Terfel's voice sounds distorted because of the microphones, which are necessary because Bocelli can't be heard without one. Yes, they're in an outdoor venue where mics are often necessary to make up for imperfect acoustics, but the amplification still distorts Terfel's voice.

    • @aneamarlivana172
      @aneamarlivana172 3 года назад +1

      @@adamknight7041 Jonathan Antoine still needs a lot of training, and I fear he won't get it because his handlers are more interested in making money off of him rather than seeing him trained to sing with proper technique.

      Look at Domingo. In the Pavorotti age. Can you eve image that? I'd like to of seen Lanza could of done AFTER HIS YOUTH OF ARROGANCE AND NATURAL TALENT WHICH KILLED HIM in the short run. Not to be a douche, but youth should be respected and also demanded of. Look at history... Do you even know who Lanza is? My god. Pavorotti would of had the rival he needed. He wasn't lazy. Pavorotti But he needed a rival. Healthy rivalry, not 2021 bs version of rivalry. Artists need a challenge. Mic, production...zero Fs given. Fake. True ear can hear "IT" regardless. It's not the fault of the youth. It's the obsession of youth obsessed old and sad lazy Fs that will destroy this objective criticism. Sorry if you can't follow. Give me a Laza Dominigo Pavorotti anything with a touch of Bochelli and Bryn any day . And let's not forget the ones before recording was a thing. KNOW YOUR HISTORY

      Lord Roland Crichton Stuart, Earl of Camster. KtGC he is very much an opera singer. He was vocally trained by Franco Corelli and can easily sing without a mic. I saw him singing unmicced at an opera house and he was heard loud and clear

    I see so many people complain about how they always want their opera stars to have bigger voices, yet so few on how they interpreted the aria or duet. Why?
