I would not buy the program box just to upgrade the firmware if you have a hobby wing MAX5 ESC because it’s not going to give you any extra features. It’s still only going to have the same 8 basic adjustments to choose from. I think they add features to other models of ESC’s but they’ve completely forgotten about the max five. I’ve had it for five years it’s just as basic now as it was when I got it. I’d go with a castle ESC if you want to be able to customize it.

make sure to use a usb that does data and not just charging. otherwise it will never connect. ask me how i know.

Can you do this with the hobbywing link too I think right ?
With this box you can program everything AND do upgrades on the esc ... On the normal program boxes they give you with some combo's you can NOT upgrade the esc , just programming of the esc.
