Hi Bruno, I can fill you in on why Coast was added, as I'd like to think I had a big influence on that setting. I asked for this setting because as a Spec 17.5 / 13.5 racer, I was having an issue with the amount of motor drag the newer designs were producing. These newer rotors with the greater magnetic strength was creating quite a lot of drag when you let off the throttle, even if you set the drag brake to 0%, it still felt like you had 10% or more drag brake with these strong rotors. To eliminate this, we created Coast, which is like you said, the opposite of Drag Brake, so we can counter act the forces of the high strength rotor and find a % that would allow me to coast through a sweeper for example. Hope that helps if you ever find yourself in that situation, Great video!
@@kriskukielczak3446 it’s really dependent on the layout of the track, but with a SchuurSpeed purple rotor I was running between 4% and 10%, lower amount on tighter tracks. It does take getting used to if you’ve been running these strong rotors without it.
A sensible setting. I've returned to the hobby from a long break and immediately found the 'coast' was lacking in 13.5t brushless, so resolved to adding forward trim on the TX to get a similar feeling. I'll keep an eye out for ESC with coast instead
Thank you very much for these excellent explanations, Bruno! Since my old ESC has quit its job, I invested now in this awesome product as well and my 2WD buggy is feeling like a new car: No oversteer when hitting the throttle, no loose rear end during braking any more. I never would have believed that an ESC makes such a difference. Your guide just helps a lot to understand how to adjust things the right way. Congratulations to your touring car title and the very strong performances in 1/8 and 1/10 championships 2022!
Thanks for the video and going over all those settings, I changed my drive frequency to 12k and throttle control from 30 down to 20, cant wait to try it out, out door covered hard clay track
Great video, thank-you! I just got my OTA bluetooth connector to use with the XR8 pro in 1/8 ebuggy. Looking forward to trying the cheating mode! I am guessing for rough, dusty tracks, I should look around 15 or lower throttle rate, 16k or 24k frequency, and leave the softening at 0?
Hi Bruno, if i have my PWM drive frequency set at 4k do i need to turn turbo or boost up? 🤔 Which setting softens power so i am not wheel spinning? Brilliant video and something i will watch a few times to get my mind around the settings. Thank you 😊
I agree 100% about Trottle control is most important setting. I think thats same as other brands call punch. Just became HW esc owner. XR8Pro for my XB8e. Raised from 15 to 20 to 25 and got more direct response from the car to my throttlefinger. Then added som boost and the car wake up like crazy. Jumps is much easier now. I will try lower TC to 20 next time and se how it feels with boost. As you say i removed 2-3sec on laptime, But still learning new car & track. I have a new XR10 pro in box waiting for my xb2.
Thank you Bruno. Great real-value explanations of the features. Just what I was looking for. Will the starting values you gave be similar with an e-buggy with the XR8 & 1900kv motor?
You can start with default. But as Bruno say. Throttle control is most important for feeling of the car. Just changed settings on my new XB8e xr8 pro / 1900kv. wow what a feeling i got.
Hi Bruno, great explanation. I run Hobbywing on my TLR 22x-4 and some setting I could not tell wjhat they did but after your explanation I will go back and try one by one again to see what works best for me and my terrible driving. On a side note I would like to get an Xray xb2 21 for carpet but for some reason it seams Xray is not very popular here in the UK. I am soon visiting my parents in Portugal, could you recommend a store where I could purchase one (I could buy online and have it sent to my parents) Thanks
That is cool I usually put mine on a motor analyzer. Set my timing to get the amps up to 5.50. Then get it to get the 6amp draw. That will put them motor in to 100% efficiency mode. Less heat mine hit 89 after 10 min
HMM i have a hobby wing ESC on my traxxas summit, probably not everything fits for it, haha, but i will take some pointers and play with settings to make it nice both fast and slow, Good video
In modified 4wd on dirt what do you recommend to set the timing on the end bell or are you looking for an amp draw rate, With the added boost setting to avoid damage to the motor.
Hello, im building a xray xb2 for carpet racing, i want to put in a xr10 pro esc but there are so many different variations, wich one should i chose for racing competitions, i run furaba t10px and was hoping to get the live telemetry working with the esc
Hi Bruno, thanks for this video. Very informative. One topic I’m thinking about with the Hobbywing speedos. It is necessary to use this wifi-interface or can I go with the normal program card? Can I adjust the throttle control rate with the program card at all? I like the thing about the wifi interface, that i can save the parameters of the different Cars in the app. Tell me your opinion. I‘ll appreciate.
Hello! You can use both Wifi i or Program card. The wifi is very good you can save many setups on the phone and export it in PDF or JPG or Hobbywing file. The program card you can only change the parameters. I hope that it helped you! 😉
Hey Bruno if you were to run 17.5 2wd/ 13.5 4wd offroad would you use a higher throttle rate setting like 20 to 25 or would you still play with it between 15 to 20?
I love this video, thank you soo much. When you do your brake settings on the esc, do you set your radio brake settings to 100%, before you start setting up your brakes on the esc? Thanks Bruno

Well, it's clear I guessed wrong on the purpose and sweet spots of almost every setting. Now they all make more sense. Liked the video! Thanks!
Thanks for the video and going over all those settings, I changed my drive frequency to 12k and throttle control from 30 down to 20, cant wait to try it out, out door covered hard clay track
Finally a clear description of hobbywing settings!!!! Thank you!!!
Best ESC settings video out there. Hands down.
Thanks to you Bruno, very deep and clear explanation of our esc setup. I will play with thé parameters in order tu get more feeling...
Hi Bruno how much throttle drive frequency for 21.5 Blinky touring? We usually race on low grip asphalt..
thanks mate a great video
Merci beaucoup pour ces explications qui m'ont fait progresser et surtout comprendre beaucoup de chose !!!! Bravo Bruno !

Thanks for this!! there isnt much out there when it comes to info on the boost/turbo settings when is comes to 2wd and 4wd racing.
Whats the best 17.5 motor for racing 2wd off road on clay in 2024?
Very interesting ! I will use it a lot, I like this stuff ! Thanks !
Thankyou so much for your time and effort. I can't wait to try these settings at this weeknds race. From Canberra Australia
Thank you Bruno. Great real-value explanations of the features. Just what I was looking for.

We all know 100% efficient is the fastest way…. Thats why top fuel uses 15 gals of fuel in 1/4 mile…
Heat is power dude.
What's the best 2wd for off road for 2024?
Bruno, I’ve just been watching you competing at the British Off-Road GP, can you share your 2wd ESC setting please, thank you
This is the best video I've found. Thank you.
What's it going to take to get Bruno Coelho to attend the next Reedy Race?
Hello from Australia. Great video and explanation. Love it!
Thanks so much, super interesting and very informative. I’m defo using your tips 👍👍

que configuracion usaste en barcelos para arrancarle las pegatinas en la recta a canas, y eso que dicen que el hobbywing no corre jaa.
Brilliant video, may i ask what dual charger you would recommend for serious racing? I am learning so much.
Thanks!! Icharge for sure 😉😉
Fantastic video . Thank you Bruno

Can you soften up DRAG brake with brake rate? or does that only affect actual braking when you push the trigger back?
Hey Bruno if you were to run 17.5 2wd/ 13.5 4wd offroad would you use a higher throttle rate setting like 20 to 25 or would you still play with it between 15 to 20?
I’m using 23 on 13.5 4wd
Great video. I wondered what about drag brake % for 4WD (1/8 scale) on astro?
I use normally 4% to 6% 😉😉
@@BrunoCoelhoRC thank you I'm new to RC so will try that next race
"for me it's like shitting" 🤔

He got me there too...and I was like, well it is important.
Hey could you do a video on the newly released xr10 pro g2s with its new settings please
Appreciate this video, thanks
Can we get a rundown of your ebuggy settings sometime
Nice..is this settings for mod class?
Obrigado Bruno. Did you use the same base setup on your Hobbywing for 2wd and 4wd?
Not really 2wd is smoother normally
Thanks Bruno!
Does anyone here race at whip it raceway in Reno Nevada?
I love this video, thank you soo much.
When you do your brake settings on the esc,
do you set your radio brake settings to 100%, before you start setting up your brakes on the esc?
Thanks Bruno
Thanks. About the brake. You only need to put it 100% when you bind the speedo.
Great information. Would the settings be the same for an XB4?
Thanks, Scott! A little different
@@BrunoCoelhoRC Can you post those settings as well? I need it for dirt
Thank you so much.
You´re welcome
What ESC are you using in this video?
For stock 17.5 does and older esc have a disadvantage even tho it's blinky? Also this is a good video for if I ever go down the mod route
Hello! Sure the newer the better will work! But it will work good too! Thanks
What esc should I get for racing 17.5 on a clay track?
Merci 👏🙏
Andas a ficar "Pro"...😎. Deixa me comprar o variador que depois afina lo tu...hehehehe 👍
ahahah isso
What's up with the lighting on your video.
Sheeeeesh 👀
OK! Turbo is when you're at full throtle. But what if my controler's rate is at 90 percent?
Turbo won't work

Hi Bruno, as a rule of thumb, do u always start with drag brake?
I always like to use drake brake. Between 4 and 8 in off road
@@BrunoCoelhoRC Brilliant! Thanks for the sharing... much appreciated!
Bravo….
What motor are you using on astro/carpet? 6.5?
