    Excellent point about the fuel, a lot of people do not realise this! There really are huge differences between them, maybe the most in any RC racing package component

    Really interesting to see this as there's currently a very bad trend over the internet that a one stage idle means the engine is well tuned, and many times that's not the case. This myth is more prominent among bashers, as usually seasoned racers know how to tune their engine properly and really don't care about a one stage idle. I know I don't... Finally someone debunking that one stage idle shitty myth. Thanks man.

    • @invisiblespeedrc
      @invisiblespeedrc 3 года назад +3

      It's not a myth. A correctly tuned and well running engine won't have a noticeable 2 stage idle within the initial seconds of idle. The goal should be to eliminate the 2 stage idle, not have one. How big should the drop in RPM? After how many seconds? Just no. Always tune on the rich side, in good engines the tune will eliminate the double idle in the relevant working window, on worn out engines, less good engines there will be a slight double idle. I will fight you on this haha!

      @@invisiblespeedrc you can fight all you want. I don't really care. I've seen and have engines with a two stage idle that if you tune for a single stage idle, the engine will simply not perform to its full potential. I don't tune an engine for a single or a two stage idle, I tune it in a way that it will provide the performance I want/need on the track. In some engines, tuning them right can provide a single stage idle, while in others, you get a two stage idle. Ppl focus too much on this shit, instead of listening and feeling on the track how the engine is reacting and tuning it to their needs. Of course I can only speak for myself and for the good results I always had tuning my engines this way (and by good results I mean my engines staying consistent in hour long mains both with high or low ambient temperatures and not shutting down). Maybe I'm just lucky. Or not...

      @@invisiblespeedrc Speaking only about my engines, last season I used a Novarossi Rolling 7-port engine with the 9901 pipe and medium header. Glow plug used was the OS P4 (as it is more durable than Novarossi ones), with a 6 or 6.5mm restrictor (not really sure which) and nitrolux 25% fuel. Motor loved to run between 130 and 140ºC. Didn't shut down at all. Extremely reliable. My local track is Barcelos (where the next RCGP round will be held) and that downhill straightway really makes any engine scream. This year I'll be running an Ultimate M5S (OS based) with a 2141 pipe (basically an OS 2090) medium header, and this engine, probably, well tuned will have a single stage idle. They usually do as compression (and therefore temperatures) is usually lower. But again, I tune for performance. I don't really care if an engine will last forever. The engine has to be reliable and perform the way I need it to. The Novarossi still has lots of compression. I have more engines, but I don't think they will add anything else to the conversation.

    Sticking with the same fuel back in the da was no problem. I ran Odonnell for 20 years. Amazing fuel. Then they went under and went to Bones Brew(really good, hard to get). VP is the only fuel readily available in the states that's consistent.

    Fuel is certainly very important. The engine has different behavior and also power depending on the brand you are using. Fuel can be the reason also for overheating.

      Well in Australia I don't really know. But for sure in Europe I can tell you top 3 is
      SRC Fuel
      Energy Fuel
      Runner Time
      I think that VP Fuel is good too but we don't have it in Europe

    What do you mean by "set your throttle on 0" ? I do not get it - a picture or a word of explanation would really help. Great video anyway 🙂

    • @BrunoCoelhoRC
      @BrunoCoelhoRC  2 года назад

      Thanks. I mean make sure your servo is not pushing a bit the throttle so you have 0 throttle. Sometimes people have a little play like 1-2% and they can't adjust the idle because of it. Make sure that you servo is pushing back the throttle that's why it normally has a spring there.
