I cook professionally so Idk that I'm a good example of a beginner learning but i appreciate he tells people the reasoning behind why you need to do things a certain way so people learn the method better. Small rant but I find many other "cooking channels" just say oh you just do this, or dont elaborate on things at all. I feel they teach people to copy exactly what they do and not learn about cooking.
Yeah my college doesn’t allow us to have any appliances other than maybe a blender, they only just let us use frying pans and our hobs switch off after 15mins :/
I love how you said shakshuka was a middle eastern dish, and you started it off with bacon, not complaining, just an observation. As always great work Barry :D
Thank you so much for this video Barry, amazing! I've got mental health problems and live on minimum wage, I've not been cooking much. But these recipes are so cheap and manageable. It's cheered me right up. Keep up the amazing work and have a great day. X
Ok tried these amazing brownies yesterday only 3 ingredients feel free to use it here's the recipe: 3-Ingredient Hazelnut Brownies 370 g (13 oz) chocolate hazelnut spread 2 egg 65 g (½ cup) flour ;) preheat your oven to 175 degrees, mix all these ingredients up in a large mixing bowl, transfer to a baking dish and cook for 15 mins ,love your vids Barry
Another great 3 ingredient baking recipe is peanut butter cookies 1 cup (8oz/225g) sugar 1 cup (8oz/225g) peanut butter 1 egg -reheat your oven to 350oF (180oC) and line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper. -In a large bowl stir all three ingredients together until smooth. -Using a tablespoon measure scoop out 2 tablespoon of cookie dough and roll into a smooth ball. -Place pre-rolled cookies on your cookie sheet about one inch apart. -Press down with the back of a fork. -Bake these 3 ingredient cookies for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool on the tray for 1-2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to finish cooling. -Store your peanut butter cookies in an air tight container for up to 3 days.
My grandmothers apple pie recipe would be perfect for one of these 4321 episodes. It's very easy, all you need is apples, butter and sponge cake mix. (I don't know what your sponge cake mixes are like in UK, but here in Sweden they are 420 grams and all you have to add is water, when you make a sponge cake that is. Which we are not, so no water for us.) Now, peal, core and quarter your apples and then slice them in to semi thin slices. Add the apple slices to the bottom of a baking pan (about 30x25 cm), pour the cake mix on top of the apples and then slice/plane butter with a cheese slicer and cover the entire pan with a sheet of butter about 1-2 mm thick. Put it in the middle of the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 25 minutes. It's one of the tastiest apple pies you will taste and it would go great with some custard, but you will have to add that off camera if you want to stick to three ingredients.
This is my favorites series you've done - I havent seen anything else like this and it's so inspiring when it comes to trying new things in the kitchen. They're been so interesting and unique, I'll be sad to see them stop.
A few hours late squad! 😂You made my day today, thanks Barry for taking the time to upload for us. I aspire to be like you some day. Edit: please continue this series!
Love this playlist! As someone who enjoys cooking, but is afraid to try things I've always thought of as tricky or complicated (shepherds pie), this makes it less intimidating. I also like that it's not a lot of pans, which means less clean up. Please continue this series!
1. Umm...interesting shirt choice. 2. I'm with a lot of others, please continue this series; it's like the kitchen gadgets series, it's great and addicting to watch. :)
if you don’t want to go through the (albeit small) inconvenience of hollowing out the cookie tarts you can flip over a muffin tin and cover the wells in your cookie dough for easy cookie cups! excellent video as always, i love seeing these easy recipes that can be modified in infinite ways
Barry, I love your videos, but PLEASE use a rubber spatula to scrape out your bowls and such! You're missing lots of tasty goodness that way with stuff like cream, which tends to stick!
I already cook most days of the week, but bingeing your videos made me want to try more things like making my own pasta and making a vegetarian shepherds pie. Cheers from Germany.
Hey there, old video but thought I'd chime in - we just had shakshuka for dinner and wanted to send our thanks. Saw this video when you were just starting this playlist and we tried it right away never even heard of the dish before and it was life-changing - baking eggs in a jar of salsa has become a dinner staple here! No bacon for us, we use some feta cheese to put our own spin on it... makes me wonder if Phoebe would like this, without the bacon? Thanks for sharing to many recipes over the years.
Awesome ideas once again Barry...loving this playlist! I'm always adding soups to my mince dishes, you can get so many different varieties that its a brilliant way of mixing up the tastes of your meals, instead of them being just the 'same ol' mince dish' in your weekly menu. I stumbled across the idea as I cannot eat tomatoes so wanted to try different ways of creating mince dishes that I miss (used to be able to eat)...threw in a sachet of liquid soup into the slowcooker with mince one day and OMG my reaction was similar to yours haha. Different soups work great for different mince dishes too - chicken or spring vegetable soup with chicken mince etc...yummmo
Love this playlist! I have a 5 month old dawn pug puppy and I love seeing your pugs, been watching for years and now see the pug obsession they are so cute and goofy! Give them some love and maybe some treats from Elizabeth and I! She is 9 pounds and expected to be 11 full grown how much do your two weigh!
I know this video is two years old,but I just found it. The egg dish has become a favorite. Today I added to it. It is now more Mexican inspired. I did a layer of refried black beans on the bottom of a baking dish, then a layer of eggs, the a layer of the salsa bacon mix topped with some shredded cheese. Baked until the eggs were done and serve with tortillas. I love your channel and I'm shared it with many friends keep up the great work.
That pie! 😍 😍 😍 I need to make this! Looks soo incredibly easy!! There was nothing in this video that I wouldn't make. Amazing video as always Barry!! I love this playlist but can't wait to see ur budget meals n World foods, they sound interesting 😊👌

I've been loving these videos! You should do no-churn ice cream sometime in the future. It is such an easy recipe, esp. if you use store-bought whip cream.
You inspired me and I've made cottage pie. I added bacon and onions to the beef mince as well as taco seasoning . I couldnt find chunky vege soup so its chunky vege and beef soup. With the potatoes I added garlic and herb salt to the water. Soooo yummy!
@Barry Lewis , I love this video! I was wondering if you could do a video on how to make a meal out of whatever you find in your kitchen (like on those days that you are almost out of food because you need to go to the store).
Best one yet!! Smashed it!!! Can you do some "one pan" "one dish" recipes? I've recently moved to a boat with limited kitchen space.... my new favourite thing is my wok, but stir fries are getting a tad boring now.
Great idea using soup as your pie sauce. I do that with pasta sauce - I add a tin of tomato or mushroom soup to softened onions, garlic and soy mince, season to taste and add the cooked pasta.
I would suggest cooling the ganache and then whipping it with an electric whisk. I think it gives the ganache more depth of flavor, but that's just my two cents. I have really enjoyed this playlist. Hope there will be more later on down the road.
