Great video, Dollar. I too have the BXpanded thumb and purchased a BXpanded 6 inch trench bucket. I purchased a Quick-On from a different source that made one specifically for my Massey GC 1710. I was going to purchase the Quick-On from BXpanded but a fellow subscriber had his BXpanded Quick-On snap/crack. BXpanded replaced that Quick-On and the newly replaced Quick-On also snapped/cracked at the same weak spot so the subscriber welded his 2nd Quick-On to prevent more breakage. After seeing what happened, I decided to get a Quick-On from a different source. I have yet to install either of my new backhoe attachments since I was out of commission for medical issues. I will install the Quick-On and my BXpanded ripper some time this week to uproot some tree stumps. Thanks again for your video. I needed to see a video of someone connecting their Quick-On before I tackle mine. Enjoyed the full-video. I'm a NEW SUBSCRIBER to show support 👍🏽🙂 Have a fine week.
Thanks for the video. Just got the root ripper and quick attach. Still waiting for the 6 inch bucket. Can wait ti try it out. Raining now or I would be out in the woods.
I just bought the quick hitch to go with my JD 1025r. I have 200 hours on mine now. Most of which is with the backhoe. I also got the Ripper, trench bucket and hitch adapter. Wiggle wiggle. It’ll work. 👍
BXpanded must have been listening to all of the Deere tight fit complaints since you posted this. It’s February 2023 and I just installed one of these on my 1025R and it went on easily. Did not need to use a hammer or Dremel tool.
Thanks for the video. I guarantee you I would’ve put it on backwards initially if I hadn’t seen this. My bucket “quick” pin is way too tight as well. BXpanded should change their marketing from saying “swaps in seconds” to “swaps in thousands of seconds”. The should also include a BXpanded-branded (orange) dead blow hammer for your toolbox.
Thank you for making the video and not editing out the part where you had to bend the attachment so it would fit. That should have never left the manufacturer that way. No intent here to sound sarcastic, but thanks for saving me $300.00
Thanks for this and your other video. I’ve had these BXpanded goodies in my garage for months and finally found time to install them. I had none of the fit issues you had. Also, I raised the bucket off the floor about a foot, which allowed it to swing loose versus sitting on the ground. When I watched you remove those smaller bolts, I wondered why you didn’t use a ratchet wrench. But when I came to taking mine off I realized there’s not enough room. Is that the BXpanded backhoe dolly I see in the background left side? What are your thoughts on that? I have mixed feelings about mine...
Thanks for he comments. I’ve been using this a lot lately and it has gotten a lot easier to swap out attachments. Yes that’s a backhoe dolly that I don’t use as it settles and falls off. I’ve tried different positions with bad results. Let me know if you know of a way to keep it on.
I had the same problem with my dolly. Compounded by my uneven garage floor slopes towards a drain in the center. I actually had to drag my backhoe out of the garage using front forks. The backhoe was so iff- kilter I couldn’t get it to connect until I pulled it outside.
It would be nice if those quick release pins had just a small chamfer to make installation easier -- it's a pain on mine sometimes, too. Nice vid. Subscribed.
Yes, I know that is where BXpanded got their start. This is the JD version. This works fine with BXpanded attachments but was tight on the stock bucket. Thanks.
It was tight going on. I will be doing a mod to shave the hole so it is snug but allows the pin to slip in easier. Being able to swap the bucket quickly is great, I just need to get it a bit better.
Please understand that I’m not finding fault with you at all. But if that is representative of fit on all of these units, both the body and the pins, that is truly poor manufacturing. I was just about to buy one of these, now I’m not so sure.
The stock bucket was a tight fit. In my next video I mention I went back and used a dremel tool to remove the paint from inside the holes on the stick bucket. This improved fit a lot but not perfect. The BXpanded attachment went on very easily without any sticking. I’m guessing it’s a manufacturing tolerance issue. But no excuses. I did have to sand out the holes which I should not of had to do. That being said I can now switch buckets in about 2 minutes which very nice when I’m on the property. The modifications were minor so I would still recommend this product. Check out the beginning of the ripper blade video to see how easily it went on.
Hi mate, check out BX video on installing the quick on. It looks like you have it back to front! Open joint to the front. Perhaps the Kubota is just easier!
You’re are right about the difference. I didn’t notice that before. I just checked the parts between the JD and Kubota and the attachments at the backhoe arm are the same but the bucket pins are opposite. It is installed per BXpanded directions. Good catch.
One annoying thing that’s prevalent throughout all the BXpanded stuff I have is their instructions are sparse to say the least, and there are NO PICTURES! Adding a picture or two would clarify a lot IMHO.
just a couple points; 1) don't use a metal hammer on pins, could damage pin. 2) use a mallet to tap pins in. 3) don't use new pin to push old pin out. 4) put grease on inside of bracket before installing. Otherwise, could informative video.
I use a small sledge hammer with a block of wood between the hammer and pin. But once the pin is flush to the frame, using another pin seems like a good idea. How do you do it?
Good point . . .in general . .. when installing anything . . .if you have to bash anything into place with a steel hammer . . .should tell ya something wrong . . .
It’s similar but that ones for the Kubota. It has to be the John Deere model as they are different. I don’t see the exact one I purchased on the website anymore but there is a different thumb type fit the JD. you might want to contact them. It works great.

Thanks for the comments. Best of luck with yours. I still swear by mine.

Thanks for the info. Good to know.

Thanks. Sounds like a good idea. I used a dremel tool to grind out the inside of the holes to make the pin slip in easier.
I wonder if it can be adapted to fit harbor freight trecher/ backhoe they are good little towables
A lot easier to stand up and do all this in front if you. Nothing is heavy. I'm 63 and did it myself using my truck tailgate as a work bench

I wonder if the Quick-On changes the force exerted since it changes the pivot points.
It does extend out a few inches but I haven't noticed any difference in performance.
Curl is one of the strongest performance on these and the loader. A few inches shouldn't alter much to be noticed

You can muscle these smaller buckets but you’ll need some serious hammers for anything larger.
It would be nice if those quick release pins had just a small chamfer to make installation easier -- it's a pain on mine sometimes, too.

At first the bucket pins were tight because you had down pressure on them.
I'll definitely work standing up when I get mine, nothing there is heavy.
Made for Kubota. Brute force for a Deere. Where you think bx came from?
Yes, I know that is where BXpanded got their start. This is the JD version. This works fine with BXpanded attachments but was tight on the stock bucket. Thanks.
The more reason I am leaning towards the BX25D
It seemed that it was kind of tight going on. Now that you have had it on for a while, how do you light it?

Problem may be is your's is on backwards to mine and the directions from BX Expanded that came with mine. Hook goes to the rear on mine.
The John Deere is backwards compared to the Kubota BX. It works fine. Thanks.
When I pull my pins out.....there is grease everywhere!
I got grease when I pulled the OEM pins but the new ones slide out fine with no mess.
