Good morning Sir, you have a great sence of humor ! Like the chain hook that you weld on the back side of the bucket ! You have a great inside garage !!! Very nice facility ( man cave ! ) Love you video and please do take care !!! Cheers !!!
Hi Dave! Thank you, sir! The hook on the bucket is actually bolted on. It's from Ken's Bolt-On Hooks. Same kind as I have on the FEL bucket. Thanks for watching!
Martin, you need the special tool that I have when I'm doing something I need four hands. I also have a thumb on my backhoe and it went pretty well when I put the quick-on connector on my backhoe. Oh, the special tool I use, my wife. Another great how-to video, keep up the good work.
How's she gon'? Great video Martin. Great to show the steps of installing the piece and the humor you add is always enjoyable to watch!!! Hope this Quick-on Bucket Connector stands up better than the last one, but you gotta give credit to BXpanded for the support they showed you!!! Take care!!
Great to know they stand behind their products. At 3:55, I was yelling at you to put your thumb's adjustable extender arm (so called "that thing") on the other side. I guess you hear me because at 4:48 it was on the right side! Lol! Thanks for sharing, I like to see how manufacturers design their stuff.
Hi Martin, I am a first time viewer. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I loved your calm, understated manner and sense of humor. I am 62 and have a home in the Adirondack Mountains in NY. I have a 20 year old NH TC45 with a backhoe and other attachments. I tend learn by doing (failing and trying again) but try RUclips first to find generous souls like you to learn from. Stay positive, test negative. Regards, Greg
Hi Greg! Thank you for you encouraging words! I’m 60 so we are close in age. Is the backhoe your favorite attachment? It is mine for sure. I have the most fun using it. I love your “stay positive, test negative” saying! I wish the same for you. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYMyWay received my quick attach and root ripper today for my BX23S. Installation was a breeze thanks to this tutorial! One day i will document my installation and upload to RUclips for others to pay it forward!
Hye DIY! Some days I wish I had a backhoe. Some pretty helpful mods for them. Thanks for putting it together and hope this one is trouble free for you. Cheers and all the best!
Hi Gord! The backhoe has been a great investment and so much fun! If you have a lot of digging projects like I do, it can make sense to buy one. If it’s just the occasional digging project, renting a machine makes better sense. Thanks for watching!
Well done video Martin! You had me laughing a couple of times! lol Enjoyed the video. I love BX's add-ons! They do stand behind their stuff 100%! That says a lot about them! Have a great weekend my friend!!
I also watched your video on how the Bxpanded bracket broke. No one can argue how good of an idea it is, I love it. And the company stands behind their product, so good to see. But there is no way this bracket should have broke even with rocky soil. The metal must be of insufficient grade quality for this demanding application. I was very close to buying it but don't see the point now. I dig up stumps often and the forces that puts on the bh77 will probably break the bracket. I am quite disappointed. Thank you for being the trail blazer with this. As always, great video.
Hi Greg! I agree, which is why I'm not even bothering to send this one back. But I am going to try to fix it and improve on it by strengthening the weak points. Stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Martin, I think I mentioned to you BXpanded does not make the Bucket Connector for any Massey GC1700's and they are not considering making one for Massey. Enjoyed the video and great editing, as usual. Have a fine weekend.
Hi Don! That's odd that they are not considering making one for Masseys since the do make thumbs that fit Masseys. Thank you for the kind words and I hope you have a splendid weekend too!
Thank you, Dave! FYI, that replacement connector broke as well in the same way and I ended up welding it back together and reinforcing it with 3/8” plates on the sides. It has held up very well so far. Here’s the link to the repair video: ruclips.net/video/UoujwF3RKy4/видео.html. Thanks for watching!
I been wanting this same set up for my tractor. just need to save up the money. how long does it take from the time you place the order until delivery? I hear its a fairly long wait time for products from bxpanded. is that true? what are your feelings?
Hi Dave! I don’t remember having to wait very long for the first quick-on connector and the replacement shipped out a couple of days after they received the broken one. The thumb came in a couple weeks. I suspect lead times are getting longer because the demand for their products is growing faster than they can scale production. It’s a common problem with young successful companies. Thanks for watching!
I’m not sure I understand the time/cost ratio. Instead of removing two bucket pins, putting on another bucket and putting the pins back in, you are taking out one pin? Since you have to get a wrench anyway (since you are using a nut and bolt), it is saving the time of one pin?
Having changed out the bucket before having the quick connect, the quick connect is quicker and easier, faster still with a lynchpin but as I discovered, the lynchpin is all but guaranteed to come out with use. Plus, now I’ve learned to hook the bucket with the backhoe and pick it up, then just install the pin. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a great design, only thing that botherin me is how you mounted it, looks like you need to 180 the quick connect so you dont hafta lift the bucket.
Actually, if the bucket is laying face down, I can hook it and pick it up with the backhoe itself, then insert the other pin.. So I don’t have to pick up the bucket if I’m not in the mood. The bucket is not that heavy, anywho. Thanks for watching!
Na, it’s just you. Seriously, technically it does a little since it places the bucket a little further from the pivot, but I can’t tell the difference so it is well worth it to me to be able to quickly change buckets or put on my root ripper.
Is there a specific reason you're installing the quick-on in reverse? (BXpanded instructions is to install it with the open end facing the tractor). Do you find it easier to put on attachments with it mounted in reverse?
It’s not on backwards, That’s how they made them at that time. However, I have noticed that they swapped the hook end in more recent models, presumably so you can just hook the bucket with the backhoe, then pin it. My solution to that with mine is just to have the bucket laying face down on the ground. Then I can still hook it with the BH to pick it up then put the other pin in. Swapping the hook end seems like an improvement. Thanks for watching!
They are just fine - until the replacement one broke. I have a welding project ahead of me to fix it and add more steel because it just isn’t strong enough for heavy duty use. Thanks for watching!
That’s right. I have a video on how I welded it back together then made it stronger by welding plates to the side of it. I’ve used it a lot since then and it’s holding up well. Thanks for watching!
Its a nice attachment but i have a hard time justifying spending over 300 dollars for something that literally takes less than 15 min to change over to other buckets.
Thanks! Will be doing this same work next week.
Jealous of that fine shop of yours. Thanks for the helpful video !
LOL! I really enjoy that shop, for sure! Thanks for watching!

Thanks, Dave! Yep, almost to 2K! It’s exciting!
I do like me BXpanded buckets. You have convinced me I need the quick change adapter. Dealing with the thumb during the swap can be a pain.

Why not put a thin coat of graphite paint, or grease on the pins to aid in installation, as well as increase their life?
Did you pay to ship back broken one?
Yes and they shipped the replacement at no charge. Thanks for watching!
Put the pins in the freezer overnight and then take them out when you are immediately ready to put it in one by one
Need to invest in impact rated sockets. That impact will destroy those chrome sockets.
Already did. Thanks for watching!
