Anakin was forced to live up to a prophecy that would have him do both good and bad things for the sake of balance to the Force. Obi-Wan was forced to fight his own apprentice and let go of the people he cared the most about. Anakin and Obi-Wan are the real Messiahs of Star Wars here...

Most of what I'm seeing in the comments is how some people are saying that it's someone's fault that Anakin was inducted into the Jedi Order and that he shouldn't have ever been in there to begin with because of his actions and his past. To those people: do you even wonder what would have happened if Anakin NEVER started out as a Jedi or never became one to begin with? Do you ever think that maybe Anakin's whole Chosen One Prophecy had transpired exactly to how the Force had wanted it to happen? Sure, Anakin showed alot of traits that would label him as a Sith. But even so, he was still as much a Jedi and a Human as the next Jedi or Sith. He also wasn't the most orthodox Jedi of his time. In fact, if you were to look at the Master-Apprentice lineage starting from Count Dooku to Qui-Gon Jinn to Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker and finally to Ahsoka Tano, you're pretty much looking at a long line of Jedi who are almost entirely unorthodox and they have struggled to stay on the path of the Jedi. Some more than others, if you get my meaning. If anything, this shows that they were more human than they were Jedi. Also, let's not forget that all that Anakin had done when he became Vader, he thought he was killing the Jedi for Padme's sake. Sure his morals got twisted and such. But isn't such a thing often the danger of being a Jedi or Sith? Forsaking and denying the part of you that is a living and feeling person for the sake of a religious and mystical branch of the Force? If anything, the Great Jedi Purge was a miracle compared to what the Jedi would have done to themselves had their Order continued on as it had done (the Clone Wars PROVES this, just look at Barriss Offee and Pong Krell). Also, the whole Chosen One Prophecy was open to interpretation. None of the Jedi knew what "balance" truly meant, not even Yoda. If anything and Judging from what happened in both Episodes 3 and 6, I believe that "balance" meant that Anakin had to destroy both the Jedi AND the Sith, leaving the Force to be able to make both the Jedi and the Sith better than what they once were. And let's face it, the Old Jedi Order was far from perfect. The same can be said for the Sith.
99thJediWarrior Anakin's age and potential faults were definitely part of the reason some councilors were reluctant to accept him. I personally agree that one of the biggest problems the Jedi Order was facing in the last days of the Old Republic was loss of individualism. It wasn't just that they were becoming estranged from the people they were sworn to protect but they were also becoming more and more subservient to the Senate. Basically, the distinction between government and creed was beginning to blur.
This was beautifully done and the best Obi-Wan video I have ever seen. I love how much they made Ewan look like Alec and how Alec would make these facial expressions like he was actually remembering the past. This video shows what he was probably thinking and the struggles he went through.

i believe anakin's fall to the dark side is a good example of what alfred said in superman vs batman dawn of justice. that's how it starts the fever the rage the sense of powerlessness that turn good men cruel.
He did not hate SW itself, rather, he hated the recognition he got for it. He had absolutely no fans praise him for any of his other works, like Bridge Over the River Kwai, or Lawrence of Arabia, etc. All people seemed to care about was Star Wars. He just got frustrated being typecasted as Obi-Wan.
This was a great edit, the part where the flash of the lightsabers flashed into flashbacks was just genius! Do a video with Clone Wars and The Clone Wars footage in it!

I've seen this video before, but not sure if I've commented. I really enjoy it! You tie Obi Wan and the heart of the whole story together very well. Adding Luke in was just the right touch toward the end. Very touching.
A very good very. I also love Obi-Wan Kenobi. I like the seconds when the fights between Obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth Vader switch between the movies III and IV. But the music is also good. Some people think that george lucas messed up star wars with the prequel. But i think he wrote a very compelling story about how darth vader came into being and it made him very human. Anakin's fall to the dark side wasn't solely due to his own inherent flaws even though they were a significant part of it. it was also because the environment and circumstances during his lifetime. People tend to think he never should have been made a jedi because of the emotional flaws he inherit as a kid from leaving his mother behind and that the jedi order may have survived if they having recruited him. i say the jedi order wasn't so perfect either, they act virtuous and good but they start to serve the republic which was evidently filled with corruption at the expanse of the moral code which made the jedi the guardians of peace and justice which was cowardly not to mention stupid, like more hypocrisy is what the galaxy really needed. Like having anakin spying on the chancellor for example even though he was the sith lord that cause the clone wars and it showed how far they have fallen. Not to mention windu attacking an unarmed and helpless opponent.

Obi wan lost so many people that he loved and care about Qui gon the only Father he had, Satine the girl that he was secretly in love with were both murdered in infront him by Maul. The boy that Became his younger brother and Best friend allowed the darkside to consume him thus leading to that final and heart wrenching conversation Anakin: I HATE YOU!! Obi wan : Anakin you were my brother , I Loved you! obi wan walks off looking crushed and like he wants nothing more than to die too. but course he cant as some one has to look after padme and get her medical help and that is why Obi wan Kenobi will always the most Tragic Character in the Star war saga because no matter how much he is hurting he is always thinking other people rather than himself.
The part where Obi-Wan gave Luke to Beru at the end just brought tears to my eyes. I mean, think how he must feel... Giving away the only part of Anakin Skywalker that he had left.
