- In this episode of TFBTV Show Time, @JamesReeves is at TriggrCon 2023 with Rob Curtis to talk about the Lionheart Vulcan 9, a modernized version of the South Korean military's pistol, the proven Daewoo K5 or DP51. The neatest part about this pistol is its "double action plus" half-cocked trigger which serves as a sort of 2-stage trigger for carrying safety and with the hammer down, but with a light 4.5 pounds trigger pull. Check out all of the features of this handgun, and make sure to subscribe to TFBTV Show Time and check the TriggrCon 2023 playlist.

The crowded pistol market makes me realize why Glock/S&W/ and a few select brands reign supreme. There are too many pistols on the market for even a fraction of them to have an aftermarket.
Aftermarket doesn't matter until something dumb happens and you cannot get a spring or find a holster.
Aftermarket matters, but most people barely put 1000rds through their guns in a year.
@@Osprey1994 I am speaking on behalf of people that actually shoot their gun. If you are putting thousands of rounds down what I said is probably even more important to you.
Because they're the original wonder 9
I know. I see so many guns that look really cool, and I think "Man, I'd love to carry that!" But then I start thinking about holsters and parts and customer support... and I go back to my trusty CZs lol
More like all the guns are almost the same. I’d love to buy one of these because I prefer DA/SA w/ a safety, but I’m not paying $1400 for it.
I really liked the Daewoo DP51. It was very popular with LEOs in my area back when most agencies here required us to supply our own weapons. It was a tough, reliable, very affordable choice. That said, I am NOT enough of a fan to pay $1,300 - $1,700 for a gussied up version thereof.
yep - i was really disappointed by the price when i check the Lionheart website -
i paid $300 for my DP51 back in 1993 - the price on their Vulcan-9 is a definite no go for me
K5 was my side arm in ROKMC !! It was great with quirky triple action but the pistol itself was old , It lacks picatiny rail and hard to find holsters with right retention. And low capacity mag 12+1 with no RMR . However it’s great to see the modernized version with great ergonomics ,RMR cut , threaded barrel !!!!🖍️🖍️🤩🖍️🖍️can’t wait to get those. Thanks for sharing the video 🔥🔥🔥

Own a LH9 and H9C. Great quality, bit disappointed that they're out of production. Would be great if Lionheart brought the K2 or some variant of it back to the market.
Hopefully they go out of business. They're directionless.
If they ever do, I hope they don't copy the ridiculous manual safety of the K2.
I remember Daewoo when they advertised the pistol and rifle originally. Yes, I am that old.
I would LOVE to see more guns imported from South Korea. So many great designs from Daewoo
I second this 922r got to go we’ll see so many amazing stuff coming in
I miss my AR100. 😪 New Jersey sucks.
they have a HK416 clone and Sig MPX clone now.
SNT Motiv makes the STC16
and STSM21.
purty cool guns.
It isn't imported, they started to make those in the US.
Korea is still using the old Daewoo K5, which I believe is being made by S&T Motiv now. I handled it once when I was in conscription. Never fired it, my warrant officer just knew I was a half-American gun nut and let me get a feel for it and let me handle it for a good minute. Felt nice after holding nothing but rifles with 18 inch barrels.
Interesting to see where that Daewoo design has been taken, and that they are being made here. I have a Lionheart LH-9 MKII from a few years ago. Nice sights, takes S&W 59 mags, light rail under the dust cover, and I grabbed it from a pawn shop because the tri-action interested me. These guns are good, but they should NOT be excessively expensive.
Nice to hear more about Lionheart, thanks James!
This is a beautiful handgun! I need to agree the design stands out.
i have the Daewoo DP-51 which i purchased back in 1993 for about $300 - looks great - shoots great - i love it
I started smiling like a little kid who just saw a magic trick when he just pushed the hammer forward like that lol. That's pretty fuckin cool
I actually haven't been excited for a handgun in years!!! Can't wait to get my hands on one
Thanks James.
Love the fact more da/sa guns are coming out
How many close, personal friends does James have?
A lot. The only criteria is that he’s been at the same gun show as you once before.
Decent pistol in a very crowded market.
And way too expensive
In a very crowded market I recommend a grenade.
@@Snakedude4life. lol
@@shinobi-no-buenoWhat’s the MSRP?
@@thomascozart1095$1200+ I think
One of my EDC handguns is a Daewoo DP-51 which I bought new in the 1990s. I've never had a malfunction with the gun, and of my full-size carry guns, it's by far the most comfortable to carry--and one of the most accurate with +P Remington 115 gr. JHPs that I believe is still the standard ammo issued to LAPD officers. Like my beloved Kel-Tec P-11 (which was stolen decades ago), it can use S&W 5900 series 14-round magazines. I always carry it with the safety on since I have learned to immediately sweep it off when unholstering it from my IWB rig. It came with two 13-round magazines, but I've since bought four 10-round mags years ago to be California legal.
I love their LH9C. This Vulcan is absolutely gorgeous, I need one.
This is a revamped regulus they were promoting several years back that had a full grip/compact slide and vise versa with the double action (+) had exact same feature’s (optic ready) looks new from what i remember. The machining is deferent & fresh and the machining of grips directly into frame is something new as well which I imagine thins out the width which probably makes a comfy pistol. The price however is the problem. This is in direct competition with the CZ shadow 2 compact da/sa which is supposedly 1400 mrsp, Dan Wesson DWX compact which is 2k mrsp so 1700-1800 maybe cheaper perhaps & the anticipated 2311 which is also 1400 mrsp. These are some heavy hitters to be up against I feel. The whole double stack with a grip thinner than a single stack 1911 capability along with with the best trigger system period “1911 SA trigger” or a super tuned da/sa seems to be the the thing that people are gravitating to & for good reason. I feel the Vulcan will have a very tough time shinning through. I’ve always liked the regulus and almost purchased long ago. I will be purchasing one of the listed pistols this or next year. I imagine I’ll have my ear to the ground to see how these pistols fair all the reviewers testing i the gun world. I’m looking for reliability, price, quality
2:23 So, you’re staging (lightly pulling) your trigger while you’re drawing your gun? Can’t imagine how that could go wrong.
Yeah. That was when i realized this guy is shady
I'm glad i wasn't the only one that heard that, wouldn't want to go to the range with him!
That's a pretty sick name. Already sold on that!
Very informative.
There is nothing that makes me want to spend $1599 on this pistol. What can it do that the big name pistols can't?
This thing is $1599? At half that, sure, but for that price I’d rather have a Bul SAS
My EDC is the Arex Delta X or the Sig P365. Why would I pay over $1k for any gun?
You can get a p365 xmacro tac ops for 800 or less with 4 mags and you can get pretty much anything besides threaded barrel upgrades
I could buy an arsenal of Taurus pistols with that kind of money.
@@robertdconner everyone asks that until they actually get/shoot/or carry something more expensive. Nothing wrong with the cheap stuff, but the difference in refinement is similar to comparing Ramin noodles to actual food.
If you're a Korean and/or thinking about defending your freedom from the rooftops, the Vulcan 9 is a must have...
James putting him on the spot surrounding reliability and trying to throw him a bone with warranty. Dude froze up talking about reliability hahahah
New imports of the K2 when?
I am the viewer...and I am intrigued. I really would like to feel that new trigger. Good interview, James.
The trigger takes some time to get used to, but the pistol is very accurate and fun to shoot. I hope it succeeds once it hits the market.
I cant believe that Lionheart is still around. I love their guns, but never could get around to buying them.
I like Rob, he's not a salesman, just the president of a firearms manufacturer.
James you should def get one to test out for the main channel.
"Daewoo" and "modernized" was all I needed to hear...!
...Except the MSRP...
At some point handgun manufacturers will cease having design teams comprised of 20-something gamers.
Im more taken aback by the ten year warranty. I don't think I own a firearm that isn't lifetime even if it's limited in some fashion. Interesting..
Ruger has an amazing warranty, if it breaks send it back.
Hi-point warranty is when it breaks, send it back.
Most brands dont have lifetime warranties. Glock, Beretta, Benelli etc. Even companies like Smith & Wesson, HK, and Sig who claim to have lifetime warranties only have them from a certain date foward. Anything Smith & Wesonn made before 1989 is not under warranty at all. They will always move this date as time goes on so they only warranty newly manufactured firearms. Not trying to be a jackass but im curious as to what brands you think truly have lifetime warranties
@@detroitvseverybody3813 after I live out my lifetime I'm sure I'll let you know 👍🏼
@Akallday502 the lifetime is probably meaning the normal life of the handgun, not yours.
@@jacobhorvath1817 that's arbitrary. How many guns last generations well past the owner 🚬
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING LOOKING FIREARM 🏆🇺🇸🏆
The Daewoo K5 was based on the S&W 59
That looks so sick
love my DP51, just used it to requalify for CCW. I want to see the vulcan up close.
Yeah, for the price, much better options out there. I never imagined a Daewoo would cost more than an HK. Let that sit in.
Seems to be a thing these days, take old things and charge far too much for it because nostalgia
But it's not an actual daewoo
Sounds like a knock-off of the HK lem, which if priced above an HK, makes the HK an even better deal...
This is a bespoke version of the pistol.
Lionheart should sell the K5/DP51 in its original configuration as well so there is the much more affordable option.
@user-xk1sy9pl6z it's not anything like LEM. The LEM is just a really nice DAO trigger. The DA+ is a DA/SA that allows you to keeps the springs and sears at full cock with the hammer down. Your first shot will still have a longer pull but it breaks like a single action at the end. Every shot after that is just single action until you manually engage DA+ again. It's actually a neat system.
That´s a good looking pistol
Import the K-series rifles, damn it.
For that price I'll just get CZ Shadow 2 Compact
And after Lionheart, Van Damme then went to do Hard Target directed by John Woo....so it all adds up.
After seeing this pistol for $1600 he then went and watched Kurt Russell in Big Trouble in Little Finances. Holy shit Wang!
Good looking gun.
What a great looking firearm. The price point is a little high as it puts you into a tier where you can chose from a lot of options.
I like and understand full metal grips are more expensive. The holster, magazine and part support is what I'd be worried about buying such a niche firearm. I ran into the same problem with my Grand Power P40 in 10mm. Cool firearm but no US support so I sold it.
The grips on this gun are G10. It's fiberglass and epoxy.
@@Centermass762 it's an aluminum frame isn't it?
@@2amichaelj it appears to be. I was just saying that the grips aren't metal.
I was a big fan of these guys when they were just down the road in Renton, Washington. But even then the LH9's were running for $800 or $900 and i could pull the trigger 😂. But now with my 365xl i dont even want too.
Yo James that funky as all hell man!
Very good pistol
You forgot the most important questions! How much and when?
He's not gonna grill his personal friends lol
I think it's a really good looking gun.
Need it
need hop to do a video with one of these
Like the HK Lem Trigger 👍
The multi tasker tool is great, but I’m skeptical about having it in the base plate. I keep mine lanyard to a carabiner. I’ve take two pistol classes and I can see the tool popping out and getting lost on the range after a few drops.
I'd love to see a Classic variant of this piece released; no rail, no front serrations, wood grips, etc. Would be pretty nifty looking.
nice
That is a VERY COOL and Interesting pistol that I'm going to have to check out at my LGS and if I like the way it feels in my hand it will come home with me! James every time that you have a cool and interesting weapon my wife get a little mad at me for additing another weapon to my collection and my bank account gets a little lighter but that is what life is all about! :)
... Visually it is very appealing!. What's the brand of top,the right hand chap is adorning ?. 🇬🇧🇺🇲 (What Cerakote is the top slide?).
I once owned an LH9. It was a sexy pistol that was unreliable! Some S&B rounds took three trigger pulls to ignite the primer. Fkn sold that shit!
This is really cool. Its similar in size to the G43x and is hammer fired and has 15 rds capacity. Im interested.
Pretty decent gun out the box without modifications for 1300 - 1600 price. I'd take this over a glock clone
This reminds me of Hks LEM Trigger
Its not impossible to explain, the guy they sent to represent them just doesn't know how. The mainspring remains cocked when you press the hammer forward. This gives you a long, but light, DA trigger stroke due to the fact that you are not compressing the mainspring. Cant wait to see this on "Forgotten Weapons" in a few weeks. Does it come in .30 supercarry or .41 Action express?
Brutal lmao.
At the end of the day it's something different. Would we like to have a decocker instead, yes but it wouldn't have a gimmick then. Actually it might be a good gun if it had a decocker saftey instead of triple action.
If it was half the price of 1600 than maybe but at that price idk. Definitely looks cool though
Cool novelty gun
These Lionheart pistols are made right here in North Georgia!
Unfortunately probably not for long, but I do wish them the best!!
Will I ever actually see one of these in the midwest?? I haven't seen a single Lionheart since I first heard of them 2 years or do ago.
I had an old Daewoo DP51 and it was the most bizarre handgun. The trigger was squishy and felt inconsistent. Neat idea, I'd be curious to see how this feels. I ended up selling my DP51 for a CZ P07 haha.
I bought one in the late 80s when they first came on the US market and it was the most inaccurate full size pistol I'd ever owned, so I sold it. Four years ago I saw some used ones on the market for a few hundred bucks so I tried my luck again. It's still not a tack driver but at least this one will hit a barn door. 🙂
@@Paladin1873 I too also felt it was super inaccurate. The one I had was probably from the 90s, if I had to guess. Though, I am not a marksman by any means. I thought it was borderline average.
Very cool guns, if I stumbled across one, I'd give it a whirl.
Looks like a fun novelty carry piece for rotation. It definitely screams high quality
i have a friend in the philippines who bought a daewo pistol about 20 yrs ago. i remember him saying the slide fit became loose faster than his other guns. he tought the metal used is not hard enough
Well good thing that this isn't made there but is completely made in Georgia. Did you watch the video?
i said a friend in the philippines....i did not say the gun was made in the philippines.....no company in the philippines make gun for daewoo@@onpsxmember
The Bissell school that they made an modern version but they really need to make a modern version of the rifle now
I want a DR200 or K2 to be brought in again
Whats the mag capacity is it 15 rounds or some other number
Was ready to order one until I saw that it's $1299 for the BASE version.
The people who will buy this - “ this will look nice sitting next to my Roland Special and Wilson combat “🧐
Wish we could own Handguns '' again '' here in the UK 😞😞😞😞😞😞😞
👍
These things are as rare as a $250 PSA dagger micro that came out 2 years ago
Wanna see more gas pedals on carry guns, specifically on compacts.
Did they mention mag capacity?
I'm guessing 15, 14flush
HK LEM with exposed hammer option
That ejector port is the GOATSE of ejection port of pistols.
Every new gun manufacturer is getting abit crazy with pricing but to each his own i guess
Looks like a good pistol for those looking to spend over 1,500 dollars. Looks like it has lots of features, but how does it shoot?
Will wait until someone develops a sub 1000$ compact striker fired pistol with a 4" barrel and build in micro comp, something like the FN 509 CC Edge and Sig Spectre Comp but the latter has a tiny barrel.
Did he say he stages the hammer by pulling the trigger during his draw? Sounds like a great idea. 10/10 do recommend.
It’s a really common technique on DA/SAs.
@@ToastbackWhale I'm just old and don't see the benefits over just practicing firing double action from your draw. Personally I don't want to practice partially pulling the trigger when my barrel isn't pointing where it should be. YMMV.
@ToastbackWhale
It's probably an illegal technique in competition shooting too because of all the negligent discharges and self shooting.
2:21 So...is he describing...pulling on the trigger mid-draw? Maybe I'm not hearing this correctly, but it sounds like he's squeezing the trigger before having a sight picture on his target. That don't sound right under any circumstances. Am I hearing this right?
Every gun man should church up their pistols
Would be a slam dunk if it had a rotating barrel
Very cool looking gun. I'd say the rep needs to work on his sales pitch quite a bit though
Like the idea but where is the 10mm
HK called. They's like their LEM back.
That thang is interesting 🤔
I was excited to hear about this pistol. Unfortunately, it’s time to market and cost made me lose interest. Perhaps, I’ll find a pre-owned one in 3-4 years at drastic savings.
I’ve always been a fan of Lionheart guns but they’re just so hard to justify actually buying.
I wonder why he didn’t ask about price or availability?
I want ambi grips
The perfect gun for concealed appendix carry?
This costs more than a Daewoo car
