      Why you say that? Honest question (I've a Speedmaster without sapphire crystal and no scratches)... Same for a Klokers 01 (not the same league I know... but beautiful watch!). For the 2/3 swatches I have, the story is different

    • @varanid9
      @varanid9 3 года назад

      @@Not_me9791 There seems to be an influx of nouveau watch collectors who hear things and automatically believe them. Sapphire is just another mineral, a little more scratch resistant, yes, but, also more brittle. Mineral crystals are stronger for this reason, but, are nowhere near the scratch magnet some people seem to think. I've never scratched a mineral crystal. By the same token, I've had sapphire crystals that had some hard knocks and didn't shatter, like some think. For all practical intents, it's doesn't really make a difference. One thing, though: I'd rather have a good quality mineral crystal than a Chinese made sapphire on some no name model. Not saying it will necessarily be bad, but, we've all seen that the QC is often not there.

    However they do not feature sapphire cristal but a mineral one similar to plexiglass.

    I probably wouldn't have included the Hamilton Ventura; it's an oddball watch, no one else uses the design and it's exceedingly dated. The Hamilton that I would have put on the list instead is the Hamilton Khaki field watch; a far more timeless and popular Hamilton model (and easily differentiated from the Stowa). Also for pure iconic status, the Casio G-Shock DW-5000C could easily have made the list; it's not haute horology, but there are models in the G-Shock range that look the same as the originals released in the early 1980s.

    Great video Armand. I loved every one of your choices. I found your review on the JMB particularly interesting because I always kind of dismiss this brand as boring but you brought certain light on it that for the first time I actually felt interested in doing some more research on my own on this watch. One watch I'm surprised you didn't include in this video is the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 600 as I think is a truly fantastic watch.

      Ive owned a turtle and the skx007 at the same time. Its true the turtle is alot better, regardless I wore skx007 alot more. I sold the turtle and kept the skx007 which i do not regret at all. It wears alot better and is alot more versatile imo.

      They turtle and skx compliment each other in a collection, both excellent watches and iconic.

    • @FatSamEIE
      @FatSamEIE 6 лет назад

      The sumo is much better than both in my opinion. It’s still not expensive and has a better movement, better case and when combined with a Crafter blue rubber watch strap it looks like it costs 3-4 times more than it does.
      I’m not a fan of the skx and I would always rather pay a touch more for a monster or samurai. Sometimes I feel it’s less contentious to make a cartoon of the prophet Muhammad than it is to criticise the skx 😂

      I would not be at all surprised if the service division at Junghans noticed more Max Bill models returning for service within the 2-year warranty period than they ever expected just to replace the peeling Sicralan coating on the crystals.
